Got my coolant spill issue rectified. It was due to mis aligned coolant seal. Now she is fine and no coolant spills.

I have covered 160odd kms now and I had a few queries. Hope I can get some light on these.

1. There is a loud thud kind of sound and jerk when I release the throttle, especially in low gears say 2nd and 3rd on low speeds for the gear. ( I am not lugging the engine. I downshift depending on the speed and gear) . Is this normal? Seems more like a fuel cutoff and subsequent jerk.

2. May be due to the engine is new, 3rd and 4th gears are little snatchy. Hope these smoothen out wih time.

3. Pulling in 4th gear is too less. She struggles to do 5000 rpm and sounds strained at 5000 rpm ( in 4th and 6th) where as all other gears are absolutely fine. Should I be bothered or is this the new engine bedding in. Bike vibrates a lot too in both these gears.

4. Bar end weights are rotating on turning with hand! Is that how it is? Was not the case with my pulsar.

5. Wanted to get the visor smoked and rims taped. Any suggestions on good places here in Bangalore? I cant buy rim tapes and install myself as I dont have a paddock stand.

Sorry for bothering with so many questions.. but nee bike excitement keeps jumping up n down..

Regards
Jeevan

Hi ravisdeva

Congrats on the bike buddy. Black looks hot.

As it is from overflow pipe I guess it is normal. In previous page siddharthsure mentioned that it is normal as the bike is new. So nothing to worry I guess.

1. Check the chain slack. It was a similar case on mine and a loose chain was the cause.

2. Yes, the gears are stiff when new, after clocking a few kms, you will wonder if you even changed gears

3. The bike doesnt behave like a typical commuter bike, you need to rev it up before you shift.

4. Yes the bar-end weights rotate.

5. Any "sticker-shop" would be fine.

Congrats bro. But I hope you don't ride the bike with RVMs folded any time.

1. chain is not loose, just back from SC yesterday and he tightened the chain. It is more like abrupt fuel cutoff and a forward jerk due to that and I hear a loud click from tank region when this happens.
3. I am shifting at 5k rpm. The bike struggles to reach 5k rpm in 4th and vibrates a lot in 4th only. Any ideas why
5. Will they have paddock stands? And di stickering shops smoke the visor? I dont want to paste tinted sheets I want a light smoked look.

Dude shift at higher rpm for higher gears. Honda didnt mention any rpm limit while running-in. So you can take to any rpm gradually.
And when you shift at 5k rpm while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear, rpm further decreases and bike will struggle to pull. Infact you are lugging, if you do the same for 5th and 6th. So for first 3,shifting at 5k Rpm is ok. For further gears increase 1k rpm for each gear.
Eg: From 3rd to 4th gear shift at 6k rpm and 4th to 5th shift at 7k rpm and so on. And vibes will be there initialy. Nothing to worry. Just dont baby sit the cbr ay shifting at 5k.

Thanks for the suggestions siddarthsure . I will bump up the shifting RPMs as per your suggestions. Actually it is pretty hard to do in this mad Bangalore traffic. She picks up lot of pace in those RPMs. I wanted to baby sit her till first 200kms and then increase the (self imposed) RPMs.

Any suggestions on the fuel cut off kind of jerk I mentioned? I saw that @argee wanted to add it to the CBR FAQ, but its not there.

Found a place for rim tapes in CMH road. Other places either they have rim tapes and dont install it or dont have a paddock stand which makes it impossible for installation. Will get her taped in the evening and post couple of pics.

I am looking for a place to smoke the visor lightly and not sticker her up. Any places in Bangalore which do that?

Short ride to Western Ghats during the last weekend has got me addicted to her. Especially when I noted the mileage.

First 260 kms - highways + bumpy country roads - averaged 70 kmph, max 110 - 41 kmpl
Next 100 kms - Ghats, ghats and ghats - 37 kmpl
Last 280 kms - Winding roads + highway - averaged 90 kmph, max 131 kmph - 38 kmpl

Insane!

Oh and the MRFs were tested on every terrain - smooth, dry, potholes, gravel, leaves, paddy, wet, sludge, loose cement (except snow perhaps) and it was just awesome

Wallpaper for you folks :

Hi All

I had an issue with coolant drip due to mis aligned coolant seal, that was fixed, but now I see coolant dripping near side stand region whereas earlier it was all over the engine oil inspection window. So I am thinking of taking her to SC tomorrow. Any suggestions on this would be helpful.

Hi jeevan, firstly congratulations on the new ride. Sorry for jumping in About the smoked visor, I would suggest that you refrain from it as long as you are running stock light setup.

You have options of smoking either reflector or the visor but both will effect your visibility. However down the line if you opt for projectors then you could get your reflector tinted/smoked, this will not effect visibility also you will be able to revert back to stock setup without any trouble
