Ok, so guys new update, one and half month since the delivery, hit 5k today

So, a few hundrer kms back started noticing a problem with the rear tyre,
the center patches where the main thread are there seem to be having a lump, now since last few days of running, the outer part(chicken strips area) seems to have lowered in level and now the whoel shape of tyre seems lumps and raised in the center and dropped down in the sides,
visited the showroom people today , the technician said the tyre is not wearing off properly , like i thought and he said he will take pics and send to honda/contigo
i asked him if i can get the mrf as replacement to which he said the mrf batches haven't been dispatched to them yet.

Will post a few pics of the tyre in a few minutes.

P.S: Going in for 2nd service in a few days time.

    Cheers

Many have reported the same problem with the Conti's.

My experience on the same here.

I have only 663 pages in my viewing pattern, i have changed the setting to more number of posts in a single page.

None the less, just wanted to know if you had applied for warrenty and they rejected it or did you just live with it ? Did it effect the rideability ? I find the rear bouncing a lot on a level surface.

Edit : Found the post using search option. But mine seems to be a bit different from the pics, here are the pics

Mine too had the same wear pattern, but it was not as bad even at 18000 km as it is in your case at 5000 kms.

Just lived with it. Even I went for Conti Go second time as well(!!) as most of my rides are on the highways. Talked to Honda technicians too, they said all Conti's wear in the same pattern. Even checked a few CBRs which came for service and found the wear pattern to be same. But in your case it seems to be a tad too much. Shoot a mail to Honda Customer Care at least and see what happens.

Yes, rideability is affected. Cornering and braking confidence goes down.

I see that you have non ABS or STD version. I would advise to you gamble on DUKE's MRF tyres, both F & R, if you decide to get a replacement. They are radials and CBRs rims can handle them.

The technicians too seemed a bit surprised, they kept asking me how much i ran , and how long since you took the bike and stuff like that. Will be going through proper channel first time, if it doesn't work will be going through customer care. I am trying to talk to my mrf dealers here to get the new cbr stock size mrf tyres, if i get that i'll go for it, or the only option for nice sticky tyres are duke tyres i guess. Will decide in a few weeks time.

I'm trying to land a replacement of the mrf directly instead of the contigos from the showroom guys itself, or i'll get the fresh contigos and exchange for the new mrf at the mrf dealership.

However, it is still not to my satisfaction, I feel it is not on par with what I expect on a Honda. It does seem to smoothen up a bit once I get past 60-70, but unfortunately, I rarely have an opportunity to go there during my commute and most of my riding is at 20-40 in 1st to 3rd gear (damn you Bangalore traffic). I had a doubt whether the service station has forgotten to fill in oil but I checked on the window and it seems to be at the full mark. Plus I assume if there was a lack of oil, the engine would overheat, it is always at 3 bars or below.

Is this roughness normal at city speeds or something I should worry about?
This is subjective. The roughness could very well be vibes too (fairing joints and bolts).
In first/second gear, when you move above 4.5K, it appears as if it is bit rough. But, just ignore and start shifting at about 5K +.
Over a period of time it reduced for me.
I feel different vibe/roughness patterns depending upon the tank fuel load and fuel quality?.
Different place/same place, different time, different quality and never consistent. Somehow, front is less buzzy with less load contrary to general belief.
With full load, I get more stability but comparatively more concentrated buzziness below the seat and tank, or it could be due to fuel quality. Who knows?.
By the way, it is a single cylinder and we can excuse it for that and lot of plastic parts with joints and somewhat poor workmanship w.r.t fairing/joint fittings doesn't help either. It is definitely more buzzy compared to 150cc machines. It does seem to resonate at some points in taco and I just don't use those points. Anyway at 5K in 6th gear, it is smooth, doing 80kmph. Find your spot!.

Hi all, a couple of queries I need help with:

1). I mainly use my ceeber in heavy traffic in Delhi for about 36 Kms round trip (18 kms up and down from office). 30% of it is literally switching between first to second gear, another 30% between first and third gear, and occasionally get a chance to drive in fourth. Do you think this kind of driving can have any adverse affect on the engine considering the nature of the machine.

2). I gave a home wash to my ceeber with shampoo and water and it resulted in moisture in the headlight glass. I thought it would go away after a couple of days with the headlight bulb heat at night, but even after eight days of driving it daily at night the moisture is still present. I went to the ASC and they say it would go away in a few days.....do you think it normally takes that much time

                    THX in advance!!

                      Hai Rocky,

The CBR is not per-se a city friendly bike, riding it in the city can be a bother, like you mentioned its the 1-2-3-2-1 gear dance that must be done very often, well that comes with its fair share of problem in accelerated wear and tear to the clutch plates, with constant and more and more gear shifts. Then it is a LC engine so it gets heated up pretty fast when operated in low gears for longer intervals of time when a slow speed is maintained, so the engine temp will shoot up, but then the fan will kick in and take care of that, but more and more heating might lead to drop in the coolant level, so do keep a eye on the coolant level in the reserve tank, low coolant level can cause damage to the engine because of in-efficient cooling of the engine.

Regarding the night riding , the moisture will go away in a few days, nothing to worry about.

                      Cheers

Sleepy is back after her first service (Somehow I cant think of any other name and I feel the baby Ceeber is a sleeping beast so Sleepy ) . The bill ran to 1440 which was mainly 2l of engine oil, 500ml returned back and oil filter.
The bike feels a lot smoother now and has gone silent and the gear shifta are super smooth. The FE I got in the city was 28, and on my recent ride to Sakleshpur, I got 34 where I varied the RPMs upto 7K. The milage got oters in the group worried that his P180 returned 30 and a bullet 350 got 32 kmpl . Overall very happy with Sleepy only grouse being the fuel tank capacity where I have to find a petrol bunk every 280 odd kms

Got the gear lever adjusted a bit. The service is excellent at Druvdesh Honda Mathikere (Veeresh is the guy). Very friendly and honest chap.

I tried my hand at polishing the bike. Man took 1 n half hour to finish her up :banghead: . Can I use Formula 1 wax on the headlamp glass and the visor? I have waxpol dashboard polish for black parts but confused on the transparent parts on what to use.

                        Regards

Sharing my experience, My ride to office (wearing formal shirt/trouser) was a lot more painful than weekend rides (wearing jeans and t-shirt), I typically end up with a stiff neck. Then I realized that my shirt is to blame, your average formal shirt restricts the movement of your neck and that causes stiffness. So, i started wearing a t-shirt on the ride to work and carrying the shirt in my backpack. The difference is really great, it is much more comfortable and best of all, I have a clean and wrinkle free shirt to wear all day long

Theoretically, There can be many issues as many more qualified riders would tell you.
But Practically, its HONDA. Apart from your FE going down, nothing else would go bad. Provided you keep check of the coolant levels and take care of your blade. The nature of the machine is "Sport-Tourer" and not "Pure Sports". So there won't be any significant adverse effect on your blade. And you can breath out your tension for 3-4 years easily.

1 good tips to take care of engine:
Start the blade and wait till 2nd temperature bar appears [takes around 2-3 mins] OR atleast for 1st temperature bar [takes ~1 min].
Then ride smoothly (without revving much) till 3rd temperature bar appears [takes ~ 4-5 mins].
Then ride as you want in whatever conditions.

My Suggestion: Try to find a route which may be lengthier but required lesser gear shifts. You would enjoy the ride as well.

                              • Thanks krish2778 and Jay Tanwar for your replies...I'll definitely keep a check on the coolant level.

Another issue I am facing after the first service is a little noise (like - gharrrrr) when I rev the machine in lower gears (1,2, and 3) over 5.5 rpm. It almost totally disappears in 5th and 6th gear where the engine sounds butterly smooth. I got it checked from the ASC for loose fairings or some other loose part but they say everything is alright. Any suggestions...
