Re: Honda CBR 250R
The bike has a range of roughly 80-100kms once the last bar starts blinking. Personally, I have only once encountered a situation where my tank was completely empty - and my trip meter was at 426 - and I had covered around 90+ kms since the warnings began.Originally posted by hypheni View PostAs this post is regarding fuel bar and refueling to some extent, would like to ask one question.
Is it okay to refuel all the time after last bar starts blinking / always fill after riding some km with single fuel bar ?
However this is not recommended - and it's always advisable to fill up ASAP. A maximum range of 20-30 kms after the last bar starts blinking is considered normal and safe.Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

LOL I was supposed to get it done the day before yesterday, but instead ended up riding to Chennai for some official work. The mods will have to wait till this weekend!Originally posted by hypheni View PostBTW where is your red CBR mod. you suppose to do that on some sunday ?Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. Re: Honda CBR 250R
From what i heard, shell makes a smoother engine on CBR than motul and throttle.Originally posted by binarycodes View PostWhat engine oil are you guys using?
Is the Honda Trottle that my SVC uses good enough? Or can I get smoother output from Shell or Motul or something else?
If my memory serves well, your ride is 2-3 months old right?
Have you completed 2 services?
IMHO, its better to switch to shell post 5K.

Yes. Its been close to 4 months now. ODO reads around 3.5K+Originally posted by Shiv_beam View PostFrom what i heard, shell makes a smoother engine on CBR than motul and throttle.

I have done 2 services so far. Changed oil on both occassions.
The reason I am asking is because, I have noticed that the smoothness goes away a bit about 500 to 600 kms post service.
Thanks.Originally posted by aquaticbullet View PostHonda engines = Shell all the way.

I have noticed a few Shell petrol pumps on my way to work. They should also have the engine oil right?
Do they also change the oil (on extra charge) or do I have to do it myself?
I asked my SVC about this, but they said that they can only change it to the Honda ones (Throttle and another something I forgot).
For non Honda engine oils my SVC is not willing to do the oil change.

Was the oil filter replaced while changing the oil?Originally posted by binarycodes View PostThe reason I am asking is because, I have noticed that the smoothness goes away a bit about 500 to 600 kms post service.
Yes they do have engine oils & they change it for free. Ask for Shell advance ultra FS 10w40(Rs.8xx/liter), you'll be needing 1.6L with oil filter change. So get two cans.I have noticed a few Shell petrol pumps on my way to work. They should also have the engine oil right?

Just make sure whether they knew how to drain the oil from a CBR. Also do replace the oil filter(get it from a honda SVC) when switching to shell.
Honda SVCs don't encourage the use of any other oil other than their own so you have to do it yourself/outside..I asked my SVC about this, but they said that they can only change it to the Honda ones (Throttle and another something I forgot).

Re: Honda CBR 250R
It has to be replaced during the first service.. The piston rings of a new engine needs to seal the combustion pressure, that is the reason for break-in period. During this session the excess metal gets scraped off and mixed with the oil which eventually gets collected/filtered by the oil filter. So throw away the oil filter whenever you change the engine oil.Originally posted by binarycodes View PostNo, the filter has not been replaced. Whats the durability of the filter?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Use the 2nd gen P150 Bar weights. Reasons: 1. You will not get the OEM in the svc anytime, 2. They are damn cheap and does the duty perfectly. Have been using since last 2 months. And you will need just a minor lathe work on it, to fix perfectly. 5 mins job at any lathe shop.Originally posted by dannyR15 View PostHey guys, so i installed the clip ons on my 220, and to my dismay they vibrated to no end at 10k rpm-11k rpm, then i realised i didnt have bar end weights xD, does anyone know the cost of the same?HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks for explaining. This being my first ride, I do not know anything at all regarding these things, except what I have been reading in this forum.Originally posted by Shiv_beam View PostIt has to be replaced during the first service.. Will check with the SVC asap regarding the oil filter.
