oh apologies. i didnt know people are really "that" sensitive to a word in caps. now i guess i will have to remove my capslock button from my keyboard.
dont want to upset anyone with caps letters and you see now there isnt one caps in this sentence?

ontopic: honda has a replacement kit deadline as 15th january here. info provided by doc_x
for anyone else waiting for the kit kindly talk to your local asc's and check if its the same.

damn it is very difficult to write without a single caps

Ok...are you sure this sound is coming from Fork..? i think it is coming from Disk and it has very simple solution next time you go to SVC ask them to clean Disk pads . This will solve the issue you are facing .

Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

        • Hello All,

This is my first post, Happy New Year to everyone! I reside in Mumbai and have been reading out posts in this thread from quite sometime. Happy to share that I gave myself a new year gift today and booked CBR Hope to get expert advice and help from fellow members and share my experiences.
Do we have some thread/group (FB?) dedicated to Mumbai CBR owners?

I know R15 vs CBR debate has been done to death and I also know that they can't be compared as one is the perfect track tool while the other is a powerful tourer. But my problem is a bit different as it is related to the service level of the ASC. I simply love my Royal Enfield Electra which I bought in 2008 but the service level of the company ASC is beyond hopeless. It is a wonderful machine though a bit quirky. However the ASC is another story and so I mostly service my bike by a local mechanic who though a bit expensive gets the job done very nicely.
I am now thinking of geting another ride as my Electra has began to show her age, though I am not selling her in this lifetime. Right now I am confused between the R15 and CBR 250. As far as I can see CBR 250 is a wonderful machine but again led down by the ASC (just like Royal Enfield) as they don't know to service the bike and also do not have spares. Yesterday I just did a cursory check in Pratul Honda, Kondapur, Hyderabad and the service guys have confirmed that they still don't have spares readily available (read oil filters, brake pads etc) but can get them in a week's time if I order.
I have already placed a booking for the new R15 but I am bit apprehensive as I am more of a Tourer rather than a Racer. Moreover it appears small and the pillion seat is non existant. The only thing going for the R15 is the somewhat good service quality level provided by the ASCs of Yamaha.

Guys please do let me know your opinions...mind says go for R15 (it has a good ASC backup) while the heart says CBR (but ASC is bad, non availability of spares). But again, I listened to my heart the first time and bought the Electra and was somewhat disappointed because of the ASCs again.Apologies for the rather long post.
Pratul Honda is very bad try Fortune Honda near ranigunj secunderabad, they have almost all the spares and they are very friendly. Contact Simon (Sales Manager, Fortune Honda) and give my reference, he will take care of rest.

              • ^^^ Lol Bladeboy!!! If you were following this thread, that's the approx life of pad life most people have got here; I was little fortunate to drag till 10.9K & was cribbing until several other's complained their average life of pads.

After I'd changed the pads, I'm beginning to experience poor & ineffective braking though

                    • ^^^ Rachit - Maintenance of CBR 250R is very light on the wallet unless the metal parts are to be changed. Break any fibre things & you can change them blink of an eye as they aren't expensive. So all these bobins, this & that protectors are not worth spending.

OTOH, if you think these are going to save the frame on crash, yes, then worth buying. But I can only think about what kind of speeds the bike should undergo for such a crash that one might break the frame. But again...wouldn't that be taken care under insurance?

                        True that !

In that case I would rather invest a little more on my own life insurances and fly high

My ABS back disc brake pad has been replaced at 4500kms ODO. The MRP for the disc pad is 1200/- I am also searching for answers about the disc pad life. Paying 1200 for every 4500 kms is not worth it at all. I am going to call Honda regarding this.

And i think pulsar 220 disc pads are direct fit. I think rear ones. And they are hell cheap. Please get it checked, as one of my friend has them on his CBR.

                              Hope this helps.

EDIT common disc pad usage should be around 8-10,000kms. Heave braking can reduce the life by another 3,000kms...Poor quality another 1,000 in the loop.

Only the Non-ABS rear pads are a direct fit with the Pulsar 220 Disc pads. ABS pads are a complete different set
