I strongly agree with that.i have given my cbr for second service at 6k km , reported the problem of engine noise and body vibration. The mechanic promise me after the shim replacement , it will be better ,hoping for that.meanwhile i clicked some picture of cbr engine head opened and shim measuring, will post soon.

Though not that hard as I should proactively consider my bike to slide. but still at times it does it when supposedly it should not be doing it.

      ny feedbacks/comments are appreciated.

How old is your bike? how many kms?
Please note that like engine, brakes and tires also need a break in period to perform to their optimum level. It is usually 1000-1500 kms.

Have done 2200 kms, 1st servicing at 650 kms with oil and oil filter change, second paid servicing at 1400 kms with oil and oil filter change. Got the replacement kit fitted as i got a call from venetian honda (mumbai) and since there was tappet noise, i got the 4 shims replaced (100 kms done post shim replacement). The SVC guys at venetian honda (mumbai) were the most ill-equipped and not up-t-othe-mark at all. After a lot of pleading and hue-n- cry they procured the shims and the guy tells me that the fourth shim is not the perfect size (they put 205 size instead of 208) but the bike should do fine, there is still some noise but has reduced by about 75%. There have been instances when some 150cc bike overtakes you riding a cbr and you cant catch up, maybe i am not the most skilled rider but i have been riding bikes since last 10 yrs and consider myself well above average. Off late i have been thinking of seriously selling the bike off. Spending a decent amount of money and yet bothering so much about the upkeep is not acceptable. I would like to connect with any senior XBHPian in Mumbai who owns a cbr 250 for his views post riding my bike before i make my decision. REQUEST FOR HELP Pls.
        Hi
Don't get dishearted. Trust me there are a lot many people here who have gone through a lot being a cbr owner, including me. Even I was contemplating selling off my bike, but that was a thing of the past. Today I'm damn happy with it.
I feel many svc mech's take the cbr to be just another bike from the 60-80K bracket. That is where the problem is. They don't treat the bike like they should. The bike is a beauty & people do consider it as an excellent piece of engineering which I whole heartedly agree with. I would suggest don't think of selling the bike rather look into how you can get your bike back to normal.

        Thanks

Thanks Aargee..any dos or donts that i should follow untill i get my shims measured/read again? I am sure there will be a difference as i can make out from the faint 'krrrr krrrr' sound which still persists. The reason i thought of selling is that i have been to 3 different ASCs and none of them have been able to even point out that there is some tappet / shim issue and there is a severe service deficiency and callous attitude here in Mumbai. Guess, i kind of got frustrated easily..my bad, will have it thoroughly inspected again soon and update.

            Cheers

I have done 5000+ kms on it and bought it in Oct 2011. I guess, the tires should be pretty okay with the mileage.
One more observation, the tires feel perfectly alright while I am running in direct Sunlight like broad daylight, but when I am riding the night, slight excessive braking tends to slide it a bit. That has happened to me within city limits in fact, not while I was on highways.
I know the tire sticks to the tarmac only after they reach an optimum temp, but does that effect there glueness ?? Not sure.

            thanks..

I get your point, can you suggest a GOOD SVC in Mumbai with competent mechanics who can solve this issue? The Venetian Honda guy is a dumb*** (excuse the language, but these guys deserve this..) Om Sai Honda guy is also very casual and asks his 'chamchas' to service the bike instead of doing it himself. Let me know if you know someone. You can text me if you wana (+91-9930064495). Thanks in anticipation. Cheers.

I've heard some good reviews of vihan but at the same time I would like to mention that I've been extremely happy with venetian. <y bike had a major problem & the way they handled the whole situation was commendable. The only problem with them until now was the non availability of parts. This was the basic reason why they were kinda lethargic with the basic problems like shim replacement. But given into a severe condition they try to help you well.
As regards to your krr. problem you better take RG's advice. One of the best person to speak to on this forum & as regards to venetian, let me know if I can be of any help.

                          Thanks

Yeah, did not get a good response from the Om Sai (Kandivali west) guys..They did not find the krrrr sound unusual hence decided to try venetian..

I got my bike serviced by a guy named Yogesh at venetian honda. He himself recommended me to go someplace else, which i found really strange. Venetian has a very small cbr bay and i was not impressed by the way they were trying to measure the appropriate shim size. The 'krrrr' sound is the tappet noise/valve clearance (imho), you may have it checked if it is quite audible and bothering, else relax if u feel that the bike is performing in line with your skills and expectations. Mine was baddddd..

Post the shim replacement at Venetian Honda, the bike feels sluggish and doesnt pull harder like it used to. Also, the torque distribution across power bands seems a bit off (i think so...thats why i really wana try another cbr). I called up Vihaan Honda and spoke to 'Sandeep'. Think i ll take a work-off this coming tuesday and meet him to see whats the problem. The venetian guys acepted that the problem (post replacing shim) is still not resolved as the shim they have fitted in slightly smaller than the required size, yet he said 'koi baat nahi..aap aaram se chalaiye, koi problem nahi hogi, zyaada fast mat chalaana, at max take it to arnd 100-110" and i was like really dude!! why?? Especially when i am already done with my run-in long back. I will touch base with Aargee on this and take his opinion as well. Thank you buddy!

                              Hey guys,

Updating a little late, , my bike is fixed, they have changed the Piston, Ring set & Cylinder packing along with usual things which Honda is replacing in all CBR.(to update, now engine is not knocking anymore while twisting the throttle).

Just need some suggestion about the care which i have to take now as engine parts have changed. Please provide your valuable suggestions.
