  • yay after all these days of running around with no screw for the right RVM, the left RVM screw fell off too on my way home
Since it was hanging awkwardly, i just pulled to the side of the road, turned it clockwise so it stands vertical, did the same to the right RVM.
Rode all the way to the ASC and noticed my actions caused paint to chip off the headlight cowl
Theres a 4cm diameter black spot there
    Hate myself ugh!
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

      Hi to all.
I am new in XBHP. I got my Red & silver cbr250r on 8th January 2012. I am in confusion before this bike i used to drive pulsar 180UGIII. confusion is that I am feeling hard that when to change gears and till what RPM i should drive. On monday i was driving till 4k rpm and was changing gears as soon as it touches 4kRPM but i was feeling some knocking in engine so from that time i started changing gears 4.5k - 5k RPM . by doing this i touch approx 60kmph in 5th gear. and i drive 20minutes on highway so have to shift to 6th gear cos of the strain on 5th gear which takes it to 80kmph on 5k RPM. Please suggest about this. i drive 70kms (approx) daily. It have crossed 200kms today so will change its oil and oil filter today.

and what should be the maximum speed limit.I do have patience to drive slow but feels bit that it will strain on engine if will drive only first four gears.

Cramster and Rjays are your best bet here. Have a look at both of 'em. And don't forget to use transparent/tank-colored tape to prevent scratches on your tank.

This is all bad practice; where did you learn all this? Did you go through owner's manual? Is there a speed limit or RPM limit mentioned there? No one knows a dumb*** more than the manufacturer themselves. Stick to owner's manual for break in procedure...if you want a longer life on your CBR!!!

Continue, you are doing good job, but don't cross 5k RPM in first 4 gears and don't cross 6k RPM in 5th and 6th gears till first 700-1000 kms. Understand your bike behaviour like handling, balancing and braking distances etc.

If I were you, I wouldn't take the bike before reading the owner's manual; personally, I read it twice before taking the bike out properly.

Something wrong with the dealer or your approach; there's nothing stopping the dealer from giving away the book along with the bike.

                Gotcha

If you haven't got the owner's manual, then search for the post made by TrustVishwas in this CBR ownership thread for the break in period. The RPM levels, speeds are all crap unless you want a bad engine later. Just follow the owner's manual, that says, "avoid sudden acceleration"; in addition, avoid hard engine braking; its a modern day engine that doesn't have hard limits on RPM & speeds. Go for an oil change if you feel the engine is rough, even if you've to do it multiple times before the K mark.
