P220 disc-pads on CBR?
Hi Sudeep,Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostI've only changed my rear disk pads with P220's rear disk pads which is of the same make.
I can only confirm that the rear disk pads from new P220 are a direct fit for Std CBR 250R's rear disk brake.
Where did you buy the P220 rear-disc-pad from? Is the P220 disc-pad "same make" as CBR's or just "same fit". Are both manufactured by Bybre? I ask this because I checked it out at Khivraj Bajaj (Domlur) but couldn't find any "KBX, Bybre or Brembo" written on it, just "Bajaj" (it was was for 196.5 INR btw).
Incase it's not the same make, then is it a good idea to get it installed? As in, any quality issues etc?
Also, how many kms was your CBR run when pads wore out. Mine was only 4k
Please reply soon, urgent! Thanks a lot in advance

True, won't make this type of mistake next time.Originally posted by aargee View PostHmm...JC makes proofs to fight later

Post 2nd service, the engine response was immense, I mean you move your throttle grip a little and feel the instant response of engine. Post 7days(~250kms) now i feel delay in response and a little roughness (only in 250kmOriginally posted by aargee View PostCouldn't understand this part; pls elaborate as much as possible
), reason unknown.
Suspicions: Throttle wire loosen, Engine Oil, can't guess anymore with my little knowledge..
It's just for mind exercise, i'll take it to ASC this Saturday for health checkup.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got the same P220 rear-disk-pads from Khivraj Bajaj (Domlur) itself which cost 196.5 INR. When I went there, they had the stock.
It comes in a "Bajaj Genuine Spare Parts" cover, not with Bybre written on it. However new P220's have the Bybre Disk brakes and this is the same brake-pads which is used in it.
Mine were worn out in less than 6k.Sudeep P Nambiar

I feel the same many times. The engine feels sluggish and rough and revving feels like a chore. Usually, I tolerate this kind of behavior from my bike for around 250 km until I get frustrated. Then I go on the highway, rip it at 130+ kmph for around 30-50 kms, and lo behold, it's back to incredible throttle response for next few weeks. And then I have to repeat the same cycle over and over again.Originally posted by titanic4u View PostPost 2nd service, the engine response was immense, I mean you move your throttle grip a little and feel the instant response of engine. Can anyone (@argee ?) shed some light on why this happens? My bike has finished 3000 kms and oil (and oil filter) has been changed just 300 kms ago (fully synthetic from first servicing) after following Vishwas sir's advice to rip the bike for around 700 km.
@trustvishwas- While I was ripping the bike, the throttle response was fantastic, but mileage was an unacceptable 20 kmpl (equating to a range of just ~220 km). Now that I've stopped ripping, mileage has increased to ~26 kmpl but throttle response has gone back to the time before ripping it. I assumed that after the ripping was done with, I could keep the amazing throttle response forever.
Why would the throttle response become dull once more? Do you have any idea why this would happen?

Is there some way to find out a few days in advance if the cone set will go kaput... I mean.. How do we diagnose a cone set issue??
I see a lot if CBR's having this problem and as we all know how tough it is to get a set of spares for the Ceeber. I would go ahead and order one and keep it with me rather than wait for an eternity to get the cone set after the issue is found.
Sudeep,
Will Bajaj guys provide the brake pads to anyone or only to Bajaj customers?
Anyway.. I am hardly able to clock kms on my CBR as I am working on weekends too.. otherwise my bike would also have been due for a disk pad change by now and God knows what else would have required replacement.. something positive coming out of working on weekends

To be frank, I never felt any issue. Nor did any of my friends who rode my bike in the first month. In July, Honda had a Vehicle checkup and feedback session at the dealership from where I took the delivery. During this, the Honda engineers themselves found that there is some issue. According to them, the handle was not moving as freely as it should be. So they opened it up, and there were signs of rusting. So they asked the Service Manager there to place an immediate order for this part. After this happened, a few friends of mine rode my bike and felt that there is issue with the steering. Probably the rusting increased by that time. However, I think I got used to it and I never felt that there is any problem. And finally, this immediate order took a sweet 3 months to reach the service centre.Originally posted by icemang View PostThanks for this important news, Sudeep, about the brake pads.
By the way, could you describe the issues you faced when your cone set was going kaput.
Gave my bike last evening. Will go and get it today.
Yes, they would provide it to anyone. I don't see any reason that they won't give, especially when they don't have a horrible spare parts crisis like Honda.Originally posted by motor-psycle View PostSudeep,

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm thinking. I can buy 3 of them from Bajaj and have a good biriyani with the remaining money.Originally posted by darkknight View Postbetter to use these as honda charges 680 for the same

One reason I can think of is its more of psychological than reality; for instance, if you keep riding at 120-130 constant & bring down the speed suddenly or not gradually to 80 (not necessary panic braking or emergency but out of regular circumstances), the mind & body that has been accustomed to 120 is now at 80 & while accelerating to 100, you still feel (FEEL) there's no speed as you're still less than 20-30 Kmph than what you've been experiencing so far.Originally posted by sunkenpirate View PostCan anyone (@argee ?) shed some light on why this happens?
My suggestion always would be, never RIP, take the bike gradually to higher speed & always keep flowing with traffic no matter its 70 Kmph or 70 Mph & maintain the cruising speed in accordance to traffic.
+1; me too having this question; appreciate some experts experience on this pls.Originally posted by motor-psycle View PostHow do we diagnose a cone set issue??

^^ Oil is mineral Oil. The same 20W40. They couldn't source the FS in time so went with mineral oil.
Also, with coneset issue, one prominent thing I have felt in my pulsar is a 'khat khat' sound coming from the front. The noise would come during say front break application or even if the front went over a pothole...this was when the coneset would be under stress. Usually, would fit a new coneset when this happened - as prescribed by Reddy, the famed pulsar mech in Mumbai.
Also, the front wobbles slightly or maybe more depending on how severe the coneset issue it.

Try switching to FS this is all I can suggest; personally I haven't tried FS so far, but, I haven't felt stress or heavy till date or probably because I graduated from 132cc 2SOriginally posted by chicmagnet View Post^^ Oil is mineral Oil. 1. Please do not use the word ripping here. It gives wrong impression.Originally posted by sunkenpirate View Post@trustvishwas- While I was ripping the bike, the throttle response was fantastic, but mileage was an unacceptable 20 kmpl (equating to a range of just ~220 km). Once again I would like to clarify that I suggested that he ride a gear down than the normal gear he would use. This was to open up the engine.
2. The throttle response would not have gone back. You are used to it. Why not compare it with another CBR and see the difference?Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
