One more help. I have the Studds lift-open helmet (Ninja). I heard wind noise like I was in a tunnel when I crossed 70 kmph, especially on the highway. Can this be reduced by using Balaclava? Or should I buy some better helmet? Or is this the character of Ninja helmets??

Finished the long drive of 100 kms. Observed the vibrations on the tank only after 5K rpm in all gears except 1st and 2nd. Can this be ignored? Will this disappear after first service? However, on the 6th gear it appeared only after 5.5K. Overall it was good to drive on the ECR. I maintained speed between 75 and 90 kmph. Checked the F.E. as many were asking on this. Last tank fill to current = 140.6 km (100 on highway and 40.6 in city). I filled 3.6l now. The F.E. was around 39 kmpl. The driving experience was good.Originally posted by yuvm View Post

I am not going to comment on the vibes. Each bike has a different harmonic frequency so will vibrate at different RPMs. The point is as to whether the vibes are the correct ones - normal engine and chassis vibes as the bike is ridden - or are they portends of some major issue either existing or impending. The ASC should be able to pinpoint that.Originally posted by yuvm View PostFinished the long drive of 100 kms. Observed the vibrations on the tank only after 5K rpm in all gears except 1st and 2nd. My two bits about your helmet. It seems that you are hearing a booming eg tunnel-like sound. The airstream is moving around the helmet and some noise is bound to occur. You could try riding with a standard full face lid which does not split open. I have a Cross lid and there is wind roar at speeds beyond say 70 kmph but that is normal - air at 70kmph circulating around anything will create noise
Also, do check the gap between the visor and the rest of the helmet's surface. If it is more, wind will creep in and create turbulence which in turn creates noise.

FYI,Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostToday I was having a discussion with Ckd sir he is a xbhp member who is ridding Cbr 250r abs.
He told me that the rear brake shoe are of same of Pulsar 220 do check on this well yet I have to see it from my own eyes.
Well he also mentioned that Cbr brake shoe is 600rs. And BAJAJ Pulsar is of 185rs.
Guys just check this out and let me also know thanx
CBR STD Rear Brake = Bybre = P220's Rear Brake Compatible (same manufacturer).
CBR ABS Brake = Nissin = No.

Anyways, let me be sincerely honest to wannabe cbr owners. This specific bike from Honda has really taken a toll on them as far as quality and type of service is concerned. I seriously pity for those owners who aint so good with technical basics about a bike. They can be and in fact are being cheaply fooled by Honda guys ( svc and HMSI both included ) related to any issues. Lets get this straight guys, seeing a right thing and not to do is cowardice. I own a Honda machine which does not necessarily mean I would turn blind eye to what the actual truth is all about.

Noise from front brakes
Sudeep and Aargee Thanks
I think the screech noise is from the front break.
It only comes when i move the bike for the first time in morning and my handle is turned to extreme left. If the handle is straight there is no noise even at the first move during morning. So the noise comes only when the handle is turned towards left.
I went to Sapphire Bannerghatta road last week and they did clean the break but again next morning the noise was back
.
My handle was also a little tight so when I leave the handle it was not moving freely towards the right side so they loosened the handle but now i feel that there is some new noise khat khat coming from the handle when i break hard.
Next week ill try and go to Sapphire JP Road and ask them to check it once again.
Thanks for your inputs guys, really appreciate it.

Are you happy with your CBR?
Totally Agree with you but in-spite of all these issues i am very happy with my bike. Two weeks back i went for a long ride to chickmangalore and once again was overwhelmed by performance of my bike. (And also realized how great an ABS off switch could be on gravel slopes).Originally posted by pravu View PostMy Message ( Remember whatever we face now is only due to the choices we have made in the past )
May be i have not ridden a Ninja and not a regular user of R15 (rode my friends R15 for a month) I felt really good about my bike.
I put too much time and effort in deciding my bike (yes Ninja was also on cards but paying custom duty is something i hate) i feel i did the right thing.
There are two things that i would like to point out:
1. Every bike has some problem (check N250 thread you will understand what i am talking about)
2. We are comparing a new born to a full grown 27 year male ( not fair).
I think (and hope) that all these minor problems will be sorted out in next few months. CBR250 is still not a mature product and so their would be some teething problem.
I am not sure about others but even after having my fair share of problems (issues with bike, lack of spares, pathetic service etc) i am very happy with my bike.
Its like love, when you know its right, its just right.

Aren't you glad, no phat tire query is popping up?Originally posted by darkknight View Postit doesnt produce the vroom vroom sound even after paying 25 k .....

I seen a mechanic do the same with some very big set up below the seat & the bike is sounding great
now it growls vroom vroom & even hayabusa posers are surprised in my locality

now everyone is standing in queue at the mechanic with their bike from tvs 50 to hayabusa for vroom vroom.....
the mechanic charges anywhere from 40k to 1 L depending upon your intelligence ....
Sms me your number & I will sms you mine if you want discount....
Hilarious post. The orkutization coupled with no check or guidelines of the inflow hurts.

that was a joke obviously - others got itOriginally posted by aargee View PostDK - What's the point? I'm really confused with your post

joke -- given the posts that have been flowing across various threadsOriginally posted by atul_chang View PostA single cylinder would sound like a single cylinder only. Got it from US for 400 dollars - value for money at that price.
I already have a bike which does the Vroom Vroom. Happy with this one
given the fact that it is 3 cylinders short.

power coating peeling off

Hi Suresh,
Although it is not normal for other bikes but in case of CBR it has been observed on many bikes. It generally happens if they wash the bike when the engine is hot. Thats why whenever you take your bike for service tell them to let the bike cool down and then wash.
The powder coating is not so great in terms of durability but untill my bikes manages to plaster a smile on my face in twisties i can live with it.
Ride safe.

Had my first puncture on the bike. The rear had a 1 inch long and thick nail stuck!
Anyways, so the bike is doing alright though it doesn't feel as free as it did between 3k - 5.8k. There all I had done was engine oil and oil filter change.
I wonder if changing the oil filter would have done any good though anyways oil filter change is listed for the third servicing anyways.

I still have a nail stuck to the rear wheel. It doesn't lose air though. And it seems like a pretty small one. I know I shouldn't be so naive; just that have been really held up with work. And looking at the bike naked (i.e., the bike being naked, to do away with confusions) can be quite frustrating.Originally posted by chicmagnet View PostHad my first puncture on the bike. @Aargee: Just for the records, all they got was the front mudguard at the ASC. And that too they will not fit it now until all the other parts arrive. You are not a chemical. So think before you react.

had my first ever crash n it was horrible....
...was on bangalore-mangalore highway 20km from mangalore...came across a curve....was leaning into the curve was at around 70kmph....n suddenly a bus pulls out....i think the driver lost control went wide into the curve coming into my line....had no option....jst to avoid the collision had to go offroad and break(ABS might have helped here....unfortunately i had gone for non ABS).....bike skids off....i let the bike go....was kind of the low-side accident....luckily i had my LS2 helmet, gloves and demins on and i survived with just abrasion injuries to forearms.Seriously feeling so lucky to be sitting here and typing....I request all you guys reading this to please wear your helmets all the time, its seriously lifesaver...follow ATGATT.
My bike is badly damaged

need to replace-
Visor
Middle Cowl(both side)
Black Mid Fairing
Front fairing + The Silver inserts(both side)
Right Front indicator
Speedometer
Left Clipon and switchgear
Exhaust Heatshield
Brake lever
Fuel Tank (has got minor scratches, maybe repaint would be fine)
can someone tell me the estimate for all this plus how much do i expect of it to be covered in insurance??
