IMO, petrol will clean the chain better than diesel, because its being more pure & it will desolve the dirt / old sticky lube etc more easily. also it will evaporate more quickly than diesel / kerosene. So why no to petrol??

now, thats interesting. i would surely like to know the reason why strict no to petrol. I guess SVC people dont use petrol because kerosene / diesel are cheaper options. but there is no harm in using petrol, i guess. i have used petrol to clean my bike's chain many times. nothing bad happened.

Petrol is not advised because of its volatile property to catch fire much easily when compared to the other options. It evaporates at room temperature leaving behind petrol vapor which can catch fire easily. It's just a safety concern, if you are sure you can contain the flame, please go ahead

Biggest CBR 250R G2G
We had a CBR 250R G2G in Bangalore yesterday! A total of 22 CBR's rode together to Nandi Hills.
I guess this was the biggest CBR G2G in India so far!

yesterday i cleaned my bike's chain using kerosene & old toothbrush.
For Cleaning the CBR Chain, as suggested by Honda Service center,
U can buy the Motel chain Clean and spray it on the chain and leave it for 5minutes . then using a cloth clean the chain and apply the Motul Chain Lube.
The Best way to do this is :
1. Get the Back stand from honda and let the bike in first gear to and as the chain rotates , apply the spray.
OR
2. Put the bike on Side stand and with a friends help, get the rear tyre air -borne & while one holds the bike, the other can apply the spray.
This is wat the guys at service Centers do and they advised the same to me as well.
I bought the Motul Chain Clean and Motul Chain Lube from Service Center itself & they cost Rs1000 in Total .
And also it is suggested to apply after every 1000kms to keep the chain in good conditionLast edited by rajmadhawk; 10-24-2011, 06:41 PM.Safety First ( protective gear)speed next :P

i certainly dont think its sooo inflamable. else there would have been many many many accidents at petrol pumps, road side bike mechanics or even SVCs for that matter where petrol fumes is a very common thing.
though one has to take care while handling petrol

Then you are wrong, my friend. Petrol fumes are quite inflammable. There are videos supporting this too. Petrol fumes can catch fire even while someone operates cell phone near to it.Originally posted by saurabhjd View Postwelllllll, that can be a possibility, but fire, uummmm, its unlikely mate

I've to agree with you on this Rx100.7050.Originally posted by rx100.7050 View PostWhat I have heard is that petrol damages the o ring.
I'd a chance to speak to few guys from Rolon this afternoon & I bought up this topic. They said, Petrol & Benzene damages the O ring by expanding from their regular size & hence should never be used.
Upon asking Diesel & Kerosene, they said, they can be used, but using mild brush & cleaning gently. So, you're RIGHT!!!Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I have a feeling that the disk pads are brushing along the disk, hence making the sound. Probably it is and thats why the brake pads are wearing out so soonOriginally posted by drarchit View Postwell mine from back...

my second service is due, planing to get it done today
clocked only 2700 km approx, & as per the CBR mechanic, no need to change the engine oil now and can be changed after bike run to 5000 kms.
Is is strict that the bike has to be serviced in the free service coupons within the prescribed time, the showroom guys printed me a table for this.
But my roommate said its (+/- 15 days ).
Shifting gears at 6.5k, hey u really feel the rush, but in city do u get to shift like taht
I just got the habit of shifting in 4k and 5k rpms, never tried the 9.5k rpm run yet...
clocked upto 130kmph with a super heavy pillion (a bull rider) and i could see the smile on his face as we rushed to see a movie in the last minute..
BTW any one in Gujarat need a paddock, just PM me...an innovative member made an awesome paddock, even the ABBA stand too..."you may delay, but time will not.."

I think -15 days wouldn't be a problem, but you might have to get prior acceptance (in writing, if possible) from the A.S.S for +15 days to avoid losing out one free service or a long drawn arguement when you do get the service done.Originally posted by adisakke View Postmy second service is due, planing to get it done today

Given the fact that you have run just 2700km, treat this as an intermediete service and get it done again when you reach 6000km(even if that is a paid service)

This is the warranty agreement. If you want to hold your warranty, then you need to get it serviced from ASC in the intervals prescribed in your manual. If you have taken extended warranty, then this applies for 5 years. It is best if you can use the machine till the fullest in that interval.Originally posted by adisakke View Postmy second service is due, planing to get it done today

Regarding your scenario, Please go in for an agreement with the ASC to fill oil later. Get the oil bottle in hand and fill when u feel the roughness. But your service bill should say that the oil is changed and you need to give the free service coupon to your ASC. Till 2 years, maintain this even if you dont like. May be in future if Honda brings in some change to the bike and tells it applies to bikes only under warranty, then you should not get eliminated for not doing prescribed maintainence. Lastly it depends on how you maintain relation with your ASC. If you are like wanderers, switching ASC for each service, please abide by the terms and conditions in the manualLeave way and then accelarate ... then overtake ....

paint on the engine of cbr 250r peeling off..

The powder coating is not so great in terms of durability but untill my bikes manages to plaster a smile on my face in twisties i can live with it.
Ride safe.

have a couple of questions..
1.is it alright if the paint comes off?
2.what should be done now?
