  • I saw oil stains on my bike's cylinder today. Please have a look at the picture below for more details.

@Aargee: Please have a look. And there are no visible smoke from the exhaust. Should I stop riding the bike immediately or can I safely ride till the issue is solved?

Because this issue is going to take another year to get resolved, I reckon, given the service quality of my ASC. (Can't comment on the service of HMSI in general, though from the feedback from fellow xBhpians it seems pretty much aligned with this particular ASC's quality of service).

    • @Dreamseller - Are you sure its an oil leak? How about the oil level? Just keep checking that. It may not even be a leak, probably some stain. Just keep riding for sometime (say some 100 odd Kms) & keep an eye on engine oil level.

I've to remind myself several times that I still own a CBR 250R & that's the reason I visited the ASC yesterday.

Radiator was washed to EXCELLENT!!! I'm really amazed at the work done. So this means, HMSI has either taught properly or every ASC knows how to wash, its just that, they don't take the customer's vehicle seriously.

So that's on the radiator; otherwise, bike is cleaned to fullest possible & I really think this is the best can be done. But they haven't touched a thing on the bike since last Friday (that is when I left the bike at ASC). Today they'd worked on it & most things are over except...
      1. Checking coneset
      2. Change brake pads (this is another story)
      3. Toping up brake oil
      4. Engine tappet noise
      5. Rubber damper between swing arm & chain

All other issues that I listed seems to have been taken care. Over to the story of brake pads, ASC obviously doesn't have in stock. And mine is worn out bad to the extent of changing it in next 1000 odd Kms. This means, even if I take the bike now, I've to replace the parts in next 1000 Kms. But wait...the rubber damper is still pending without which my swing arm is going to take all the beatings from the chain. And no other vehicle's damper could fit in as temporary replacement either.

Which means, even after waiting for sprockets for one long month (actually one month + one week now) once again the bike will be stranded at the ASC indefinitely waiting on rubber damper + brake pads.
At this rate I'm almost forgetting that I'd actually bought a CBR 250R

How long is acceptable on waiting for parts before approaching consumer court? Pls advice.

Err.... seems like a leak because even after I cleaned it and rode for about 50 odd kms, it appeared. Anyway, will have a look at the oil level and update accordingly.

Huh! .. Can just empathize with you on this as even I'm in the same boat..... well almost! I reckon you should go ahead approaching the consumer forum, and even I'm deciding on the same. Just that I'm setting a deadline till when I can wait for the parts.

        • @Aargee: Make sure you have enough paper proof that you've waited for so & so time for spares if you're considering the consumer court route. Also, Not sure how long a customer needs to wait for spares, but IIRC a automobile company needs to 'support' a product for atleast 7 years.(i might be wrong here..had read things like these very long back)

                    have a couple of questions..

1.is it alright if the paint comes off?

                    2.what should be done now?
                    1. Well, if water spills on very hot engine, its colour can peel off. Happened with my ZMA R engine as well.

                    2. I really don't know how it can be fixed other than repainting.

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

                        • ^^ Does your air leak??? it is normal for the tyre to get a few scars when on the road...Looks you went over something sharp and big! If you ain't loosing air, it shouldn't be a problem I believe.

May be thats because of a busted head gasket. I own a R15 and my bike was leaking oil at exactly the same place. The SC guys replaced the head gasket n its fine now.

Thanks for the info blackprince. I just hope they get the left side fairing and the radiator soon.

I don't think its too much of a problem as long as it's not a deep cut with air leaking. Keep a tab on the air pressure regularly.

Methinks the same. Well, I guess a trip to the ASC it is.

                              • Wondering if I can put up a smaller leg guard on the CBR? It has the connectors space so might as well utilise it to lug around some luggage in a safer manner.

Will the holes for the leg guards be the same as in other bikes?
