Yes it is needed & they use another 500ml from the second bottle. You're welcome to pay for the second bottle & carry away the remaining 500 ml OR choose to pay for 1.5lts & leave the bottle at ASC.

Cost of the bottle before or after filling the oil? Before filling it should be around Rs 230; after the oil is drained from bottle, it depends on who takes the plastic bottle

I see few people got oil changed as 20W40 but mine was put in as 10W30 :O
dont know why this difference across ASCs.
Also they charged me 750+ for the oil as the 1Ltr costs around Rs.504.00

I have been able to touch only 146KMPH on my bike and hope the engine will open up in next few hundred KMs. Do i need to worry? Total KM run on my bike is close to 300.
People who have ABS version, please let me know if you guys also feel that the rear break is not as effective.
When i stand on it (not literally ), the ABS kicks in and the bike breaks properly but before that it just feels like normal drum breaks not even a disc.
Front one is great and the ABS really does a good job but rear ones do not feel up to the mark. Will the they improve with more KMs on the oddo?

And yesterday i posted to ask about if i can use collinite845 on plastic parts in the bike but it was deleted by admin on grounds of being out of topic. If asking for guidance from fellow CBR owners is of topic then what can i say

Its not required; some might open it for convenience

If you'd gone through the above post, an oil change consumes 1.5lts; so 1.5 X 504 = Rs 756!!! What's the confusion? IMO, they've charged quite reasonable.

Yes, you need to really control your wrist!!! Opening up the throttle to 146 Kmph before 1st 500 kms is not advicable at all!!!

Also, why did you change the oil before 1st 300 Kms? Did someone suggest or did you carry out to convenience? Did you also change the oil filter along?

ABS kicks in when the wheel locks!!! So when you stand on the pedal, the wheel locks & then naturally the ABS kicks in!!!

There were 2 mistakes you did...
        1. You're asking about bike detailing in CBR 250R ownership thread. There's an appropriate thread for it where such discussions are carried out. Go through that thread, you'll not even find a necessity to even ask a question as all these things have been discussed to death.
        2. You simply mentioned as 845; what is 845? Rs? Paise? Mango? Oil? What does that mean? If you post it from mobile, does it automatically convert into SMS language? And yes, SMS language is not allowed in xBhp & is one of the forum rules.

I changed the oil because I went for the hard break in. Yes i did change the filter as well. And the price part was only to mention that 10W30 costs much more than 20W40.

I understand that and i am not asking about ABS i am just sharing what i feel about the rear breaks of the baby CBR and wanted to know if this is an isolated incident and do i need to get it checked?

My apologies. Was not aware of the detailing thread will search and bookmark it. Was asking in this thread because people here have done the same thing and would have responded quickly. I posted it from basement parking lot and was desperate for a quick response as i was polishing my bike at that time.

Sorry for the confusion but just 2-3 days back people from this thread only suggested Collinite 845 and i had been reading a lot about different products (845, 915 etc) from Collinite by default i only texted the product number 845 . I never use a SMS lingo because i dont text so often ( i prefer mail ).
Thats why added a PS in the end of post so that people dont feel offended in case i have used any sms words unknowingly (my iphone's screen is too small to have a proper preview of the whole post )
It was not intentional but honest mistake i hope everyone will understand.

Are you talking about power wheelie? I seriously doubt that CBR250 can do power wheelie. It lacks . . . . ahem . . . . power

                    Clutch wheelie is absolutely possible.

                    • Oil Filter not changed in first service

I completed my first service of my CBR but the dealer has not changed the oil filter since there was no stock. He said he had cleaned the old filter and installed it. Is it advisable to ride with the old filter and how many kms since i am planning for a long ride? The dealer (Saphire Honda, Bangalore) doesn't have a clue of the delivery of the oil filters from Honda. Is there any other dealer in Bangalore who has the spares?

                      Regards

I'd done about 2-3 times on very high speeds (triple digits) & if not for stock C250R's posture, the response would've been poor. What I'd be interested to know after rising the height is, how well does the panic braking yields to. What's the overall affect/improvement on the engineering regardless of posture.
                          Dear aargee,

Thanks for the compliments. The whole set will come to about Rs 6000. Money well spent, I suppose!

Umm, about panic braking. I have not let myself get into a situation where the noun and verb "panic" can come to be. I drive very defensively and try to predict the actions of others on the road. Touch wood, not a single accident yet, on two or four wheels, amen. So, i cannot comment about panic braking as I do not know what that means.

If you mean emergency braking, the response of the bike is even better now: due to the increase in handle bar height, the earlier sensation of the bike diving under hard front braking is almost completely gone. Also, she leans in more naturally into corners than she did earlier. And as you would know by now, an enhanced level of comfort plays a major role in increasing the general safety for the rider and for the bike especially over longer durations/dist .

The next time I come to Pune on the bike, you can try it out yourself.

                          Regards,

                          Maneesh

                          • Didar T.Nagar,ASC feedback (Chennai)

The difference between Good service centers and Great service centers is that, great service centers find out the problems that you haven't even pointed out and meticulously pursue to rectify them while good service centers rectify those you pointed out, i.e do exactly what is asked of them. It is in this sense, that Didar T.Nagar is a GREAT service center.

I am doing a trip of 500 kms tomorrow to my home town, So I had to ensure that everything was checked. Now, I am used to BAD service centers, those that cannot correct your problems even after you pointing it out to them. They try to sell you cock and bull stories about how its an inherent charcateristic of the bike??

I called up Didar T.Nagar and booked an appointment, It wasn't a service because I have done just 2000kms on the odo post 1st service. My complaints before going there were
1.I could feel a slight jerk/feedback from the tank when the bike hit a medium sized pothole at over 30kmph.
2.The side indicator was out of its socket on one side,(Kun Honda Adyar dismissed it saying it cannot be repaired and they dont have spares to replace it)
                            3. Noticeable vibrations at around 4k rpm.
                            4.Dirty Chain

I asked them to correct just these problems. I was impressed from the moment I landed there, 15 minutes prior to my appointment. The supervisor took a test drive immediately, and took into the service bay, removed the activa they were already servicing and started working on my bike. The way the boy was instructed to clean the chain was quite surprising, as I have rarely seen such dedication in either the mechanic himself or the service manager. The boy did thorough cleaning the first time, I could see the chain gleaming so he shouted, "finished anna". The service manager walked over and put his finger on the chain and showed him a tiny speck of black residue, which was almost un-noticeable. He instructed the boy to clean it again, this happened one more time, finally after 3 tries and 20 mins of meticulously rubbing the chain, the manager was finally satisfied.

They worked on the bike for maybe around 45 minutes. Took test drive 3 times and made sure all the issues were rectified, including the indicator which they repaired without replacing.

Now, if you felt that was impressive, the icing on the cake was when i asked him "How much sir?", He politely replied, "No sir, It's ok.". I couldn't believe myself, I told him, let me pay for the chain lubing atleast if not the labor. He declined again. I asked him for a feedback book hoping my gratitude would be documented, but alas, Nope. Overall, I would rate the service center 4 out of 5. (If this helps anyone in chennai to choose a service center)

                              • Ride report after Shims replacement.

Yesterday i did a small ride 60kms and after fixing correct shim now bike has become more smooth and feels good to ride. All the tuktuktuktuk.....khatkhatkhat....kinda noises have gone also Engine feels more smooth and relax , bike reacts to throttle very quickly . 1st time in past 6000km i redlined her and boy it feels great. All n all am Very happy with the work carried out by Vihaan Honda (thane) and the response i got from the head mech .
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.
