For you the best and Logical option is buy some 2nd hand bike or Cycle and then use that bike to commute . I do same thing use CBR only for highway or weekend tripsOriginally posted by sunkenpirate View PostJust dropped off my bike at Wings Honda... Technician rode it and confirmed that entire front section is not in correct position, and handle is misaligned. Final verdict...
1) I was told that the brackets used to mount the fairings have been damaged and bent. Because of this, the both fairings, front windscreen, and handle are out of alignment. Handle is out of alignment because of damage to steering cone. The left side of the bike has been pulled backward, and the right side has been pulled forward. They'll have to open the entire bike and see what parts have been bent, then call the welder to soften those parts and then get them back to original shape and reassemble everything again. Total time 2+ days (depending on how long the welder takes, and whether the technician has the know-how) and cost around 700-1000 bucks. And on top of this, this is the first case they've got, so they aren't experienced in unbending brackets and whatnot, of the CBR.
2) Right fairing has to be sent out of Pune to be repainted and will take at least 5-6 days and Rs. 2000+
So all in all, it'll take me at least 3000+ bucks and minimum 7 days to get the bike back. After all this, if it was indeed vandalism, HOW DO I STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
Not taking my bike to college is not an option.
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

Yesterday, did again did a 200kms ride and tried to test the speed with gps of my phone. But due to heavy to moderate rains throughout my way, i could manage to hit only 147kmph twice. The bike had more juice remaining but i had to slow down early in a corner and traffic. The top speed shown by gps however is 137kmph (uploaded a screenshot below but please ignore the avg speed as it is accumalated with the halts and overall use). But the bike cruised at 130+kmph for most of the time without any drama even in the rains. Special thanks to the newly build nice road and very less traffic
Note: this is in no means any claim.. Just a share of info.
working on camera mounts and will soon upload a video too.. Also, had tried a simple juggad with a simple plastic sheet as a mudflap. And Voila!! It worked for me. It was just a temperory experiment. I had cut the plastic sheet and just pasted it on the mudguard with a electrical red tape. I expected to fly away in first ride itself but to my amaze, its still on there after 250kms. During the ride, there were water splashes that even pushed my leg off the footrest.. But this little plastic stayed there and the radiator was as clean as it was when i did this mod. Now only thing i will do is, buy a red plastic flap(the big sheet put on most bikes in rain but is much thicker), cut it in the same shape and fix it with bolts at the same place (but need to drill holes)

Yes,this is the best which I'm following right now using my old bike, Once more CBR on Road, people lost interest on CBR, then it is safe to park anywhere .........Just like R15 now..
I hope Bajaj will launch something 250CC segment soon to compete with, and most of the CBR get ignore in public place.Last edited by Neel08; 08-24-2011, 05:50 PM.

Got my CBR registered today at chennai
.
Received invoice, insurance and user manual. When i asked for Lifetax, they told that has to be downloaded from internet(but didn tell me how and she escaped out of my vision)
.
How do we download life tax from internet?
It seems it takes 15 days to get my RC
. But they told, the reg. no. can be given tomorrow
.
The showroom people told that i can drive the bike with out RC, but with invoice, insurance and reg. no. in bike. Is that so.???
Kindly advice!!!!

Welcome to the club
Crap!!! Haven't heard this till date!!! RTO providing something through internet!!! Horrible to hear!!!Originally posted by arunteche View PostHow do we download life tax from internet?
BTW, you don't get tax token these days. The tax paid is endorsed in the RC book as part of rubber stamp with validity dates mentioned.
Yes for few days.Originally posted by arunteche View PostThe showroom people told that i can drive the bike with out RC, but with invoice, insurance and reg. no. in bike. Is that so.???

One question...what if the plastic comes off and sticks to the red hot engine? Won't it burn and melt or worse cause a fire?Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostBut this little plastic stayed there and the radiator was as clean as it was when i did this mod. Red Hot Engine
what kind of engine are you talking about?? My cbr's engine never went red hot
Moreover, i can even touch it with my naked hands even after a long ride. Does any bike engine become red hot?? Please tell me if so as i dont know any.. Yes, i can imagine the exhaust pipe becoming very hot,, but i dont mind if it sticks there.
The worst case is, it may go under the rear wheel. But i plan to fix it with nuts & bolts and if it has a chance to still come out, anything on the bike fixed with a nut&bolt has..
how can it catch fire? Please explain to me if i dint get your question correctly or i am under wrong assumptions. You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

@Chicmagnet - Its a very rare circumstance to happen; even if the plastic peels off, it would get hit by the radiator & then would fall down, wouldn't hit the cylinder.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
