Ok, I got that. And yes, Indian kutccha roads do qualify for enduro and MX

      something seriously wrong...

      air flow (filter )
      injector (cleaning/checkup)
      tyre pressure
      chain slack..
      valve clearance/shim issue...

also use tank to tank method.. reset trip and check again..
for me from blink to blink it generally takes 9.5-9.6 litres and returns 324-328 km for blink again..

Please Explain Shim...???? is this shim repiar able.???

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

        • 2nd Service report (Rajindra Honda - East Delhi)

          Hi all,
Got my bike's (CBR 250R ABS - TriColor) 2nd service done last Saturday at Rajindra Honda (East Delhi).
          Stats:
          Odo reading : 3302 kms
          Ownership Time: about 5.5 months
Mileage : approx 30-31 kmpl as my daily ride involves some spirited riding frequently touching 110-115 kmph, as well as slower moving sections.

Bike was feeling rough before service - quite a lot of vibration especially after 6.5k rpm, though not to the extent that hands would go numb...
The mechanic (Subhash) cleaned/lubed the chain (cost Rs. 250 - they use Motul cleaner and lube), changed oil. Also, I insisted that oil filter be changed too although the mechanic was saying there is no need. However I insisted as there is no harm in changing the oil filter with every oil change especially since the last oil change was at around 600 kms.. Also, the air-filter was changed since it was getting quite choked as my daily ride is through a rather dusty area...
I also wanted to get the valve-clearance checked as there has been a slight 'tick-tick' sound from bike and also as it was not checked in 1st servie either. However, the mechanic insisted that the bike is sounding and behaving absolutely fine and there is no need to check it now - he even mentioned that opening the valve head unnecessarily may lead to more problems... So, I decided not to get it done this time. Did not get the bike washed/polished as I prefer to enjoy doing that part myself . Total price of service : Rs. 1600 approx. Total time spent at service station - approx 4 hours.

Post service feedback : The bike is feeling much smoother (not sure whether this is due to oil change, air-filter change or chain clean/lube) - the vibrations have gone down considerably and bike is feeling even better to ride . Have not been able to check mileage after service as yet...

good to hear that bike is much smoother now.. the vibes will reduce further as the odo climbs up. the one thing i have noticed about this machine is around 7-8k on odo and it will completely smoothen out. the chain (transmission) is very important to be maintained else can result into un-necessary irritation.. have fun.. be safe .. keep riding..

and the mech is true about the shims.. as to open the head cover the engine needs to be unmounted and a long procedure. i dont think you'd need a shim replacement until 12k-14k
and there is no setting to be done in it.. its use n throw stuff..

The ironhorse99 is completly correct.Do not disturb anything which doesn`t require disturbing.Though the procedure to check valve clearence dosen`t require engine to be unmounted,it requires the fairing to be unmounted.

              • We, at Bangalore CBR 250R Riders group crossed the 400 members mark recently. On that occassion, we thought of having a group ride on 9th Feb 2013.
There were around 63 CBR 250Rs that joined the ride. We rode from Bangalore to Shettihally Church in Hassan and back, which was around 450 kms in total.
Here is the video from our ride.

the shims can be checked after removing the fairing and the tank.. the problem here is after using the filler gauge if the shim need replacement then either you unmount the engine else you get into a very tricky situation of dropping the small cell (shim) i have seen people dropping it down the oil drain.. also dropping it here n there.. if that happens.. then forget bout mounting the engine.. you might end tearing the engine down till the crankcase just to find it back..

so taking it out and putting back the engine will be cumbersome and time consuming but i would suggest to prefer it this way.. its always good to take a lil more time with less risk..

If the shim needs to be changed it is done with the help of a magnetic probe, in which case it does'nt fall into any unwanted place.

Is there a new 2013 colour scheme for CBR. In the showroom, I was told that 2013 models are having same colour scheme as 2012. Anybody knows?.

The following changes are introduced in the color schemes of CR250 for 2013:
                            • Full Black with Black Alloys instead of Black/Silver with Silver Alloys
                            • Full Red with Black alloys instead of Red/Silver with Silver Alloys
                            • Repsol Orange HRC Scheme instead of the Red/Blue/White/Gold HRC

In a way, the showroom may be right as the the base color schemes have still remained unchanged - Red & Black. And we are doubtful if the Repsol HRC will ever make it's way to India because of it's exorbitant cost!

Have been noticing quite a few of the the full-black CBRs with Black Alloys on Bangalore roads now. Already seen 3 different bikes with full-black schemes. Not sure if they are repainted ones or the new 2013 ones. In my personal opinion, they look ugly - almost like an obese pulsar!

wish all svc are equipped with all the gadgetry suggested by honda and the tech's are happy to use it..
though a magnet would be an in-expensive stuff to maintain but still.. u know "hazaaron khwaishein aisi..."

it still being a very small cell.. rate of human error is still high.. why take a chance. infact i get to sit and see the internals and
another change to push the mech to clean the injector too as neways he disconnects the throttle body and clean the engine mounts and other stuff

at some corner i was being selfish for the lady love...

Officially honda has not launched the new colors. still old colors only they are selling. and Tri-color disconitinued from manufacturing. from the information what i got in March or April honda would introduce the new colors including the Reposal Editon in india.... From my opinion all the new colors are looking good... if anyone is planning to buy 250R please wait and go for new one. they might keep the price higher than current one...
