  • As per my understanding riding this bike under 4k rpm won't serve any purpose nethier will upshifts below 5.5k rpm . I upgraded from FZ it took me almost a month to understand how to ride this bike in city efficiently . On hi ways its a complete different story i can go all the way up the rpm range for shifts . as ironhorse said the bike has good torque figure so wid pillion i felt also front popping up .. but zmr beating cbr never happened . I'm a sane rider in city limits so any body can zoom past me even wid activa. But on hi way even wid heavy pillion (and me 90 kgs)only the green baby can overtake cbr (in speeds above 100 talking about stock bikes).. no offence meant for any other bike or owners its just my experience..

@theironhorse99, @divyasharan: thanks for your replies, brothers! I was under a mis-belief that the presence/weight of a pillion won't make a significant difference in the pulling power of a 250cc, given the 23NM and 25BHP on tap

Precisely what I had mentioned. Right from the green signal till 70kph, I was seeing the tail lamps of the ZMR. Around 80, we were on par. 90-plus, and the ZMR was in the RVMs.

thats why touring bikes might be same cc of that of superbikes but have lesser bhp but more of torque.. for they are made to pull more load with ease and go fast.. balance between speed and power

and then comes the cruisers.... .. its all bout the torque....

        • Rear Footpeg Adjustment

I own a CBR250 and after extended rides (45mins+), my pillions complain of cramped knees and knee pain. I took a ride on my own bike as pillion and I found the seating position too cramped - its almost like I was squatting. I now want to lower the rear footpeg height by an inch or two (and if possible, push it forward by an inch or two) so that the seating position is more relaxed and there is lesser stress on the knees.

Is there any jugaad which can be devised? If not, then are there any aftermarket contraptions which fit into the stock socket and have the footpegs positioned lower than stock? Foldability is not a concern.

ravi@17bhp : In city, i shift between 4500-5000 RPM to keep a tab on fuel consumption. Revving too much in city sucks fuel like crazy. On highways I shift anywhere between 6500 to 8000 rpm

Were you beaten by ZMR even when you shifted gears at 6500-8000 rpm? Having a pillion definitely affects the acceleration considerably.

@Ravi: On this particular occasion, i was shifting at around 7000RPM and my friend was shifting at 6000PRM. But yes, as others have mentioned: the added 50KG weight of the pillion, and the extra 12 KG of weight (ZMR=159kg, CBR=167+4 kg (panniers/sideboxes & accessories) did pull me down significantly.

                          • Can anyone tell me karizma zmr fork diameter. I am wondering if the clipons are a direct fit on cbr 250. My height is 5 8 and i feel difficulty in long rides especially behind my neck just below the head. The accelerator and clutch cables from zmr will be a direct fit i hope.

The clutch cable might work but not the accelerator cable as cbr has 2 wires running through the throttle body that goes around the round flywheel to control fuel. Also even if the zmr clipons fit to that of the cbr fork you might not be able to turn the handle as it will touch the windscreen. . Try moving to a lil front and then ride. Get a tankpad though

                              • Hi Guys,
Friday is the date day for delivery!. I went for PDI check today. Side fairing was replaced as promised. Windshield is yet to be replaced, but promised that it will hapen.
Couldn't read the Odo as battery is not yet connected. Sales were assuring me that it will be less than 5km and it is 2013 model. Registration is tomorrow, I am being reasonable and believing them (hope my trust works). Was not happy with condition of radiator fins, I saw at least 50 fins bent. Sales guy was reluctant to change it and convinced me saying that, changing would need fairing removal etc. Don't know if I am taken for a ride. At this rate, I have to call the service in-charge on Friday and see if coolant and oil is in place. This buying experience is not as pleasant as I would like.
                                Yours
