Hello Guys,
I purchased a black CBR250r ABS on 8th of February, 2013. Overall the bike seems is very good, but It is very difficult to drive in slow speed in city traffic. Please let me know if its`s a generic issue or their is some problem with my bike.Last edited by anu3682; 03-01-2013, 05:21 AM.

Its normal with any faired bike. Maneuvering 167 odd kilos in slow traffic is not an easy task.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

well first of all congrats mate..
now if you have move from a naked bike to a faired one . it ill take a few days for you to adjust to just the handle bar moving
and not the light.. also you cant see the front and need to judge distance properly in heavy traffic. the riding postion is lil sporty
and hence seems cumbersome in traffic. keep it in 1st or 2nd gear as needed and do not lug the engine.
dont worry its gonna take a few days..
and then you'd get adjusted

However, the same "issue" transforms itself to a blessing in disguise when scorching highways. The biggest problem is when a pillion tries to climb on - holding the bike steady was a real pain. Then I learnt to lean the bike in the sidestand when a pillion climbs on - so that even if my legs don't support the weight, the bike can remain stable.Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Congrats!. Be assured that you are riding what I feel as one of the finest machines in this class so far for me.
I have been riding it for a week now. What you mean by "very difficult"?.
Please read my post 11071 point number 6.
It is like a chariot pulled by 25 horses. When you have 25 horses chariot, you don't push into slots.
BTW, king in a chariot needn't hurry, because on the open road, one air whip to horses is all that needed.
It is a bliss to ride.
Point is, I have to adjust so that I don't take the weight of the bike. I ask this question - does king on a elephant is bothered because elephant is heavy?. There are many sidekicks which are panicking around it.
Don't worry about a heavy chariot as long as it is pulled by good number of horses.
Have ridden KB100, Suzuki Fiero before. Fiero felt big in 2001 for me. BTW, I am only 45KG (same weight from 1996) + riding jacket and protective gears about 2KG + lunch, snack, story book, and good luck charms from kids about 2KG . This, as you already noted forms a heady combo- the horses don't know that rider is on board .
How I handle weight issue -
1. I never put my foot down unless I want to stop (takes care of weight issue also good for leg safety). Even at very slow speeds (at 5kmph) it is very planted to road, slowly ease the throttle, hold the handle bars as if I am holding one month old baby's arm.
2. Be relaxed and enjoy!. Don't try to move when it is not running. I plan my parking space - don't simply park in some slots in inclines or where road edge is higher by more than 2 inches (know my strength). Take my time. I have plenty while riding. I remember "Fools rush in .." raggae.
3. Don't unnecessarily tilt the bike when stationary.
4. My opinion - Our body will eventually build itself to support the motor bike we ride, may be it is also true to brain.
5. One thing - No matter what I do, once I loose drive and hence balance - I am going to drop it in most situations regardless of weight. I do understand - it really teaches me - how fragile the life is. In every pre-ride ritual, I know that every ride makes me statistically closer to a drop/crash and ask myself - do I have adequate protection!. More on philosophy later .
6. Be ready before allowing substantial pillion to climb up. As long as you are on plain ground, without any tilt in the motorcycle, with both feet planted on the ground, you are OK. But climber also needs to be bit sporty or a rider who will swing over the other leg as they put weight on one foot peg. I tell pillion not to climb up before I say ready, no matter how much the pillion weighs. This becomes a practice and they will ask you next time before climbing
.
Yours truly

if you are riding in higher gears below 4k rpm in the city, you are only going to invite trouble and nothing but trouble because you will be lugging your engine. So if you're in a stop and go traffic stick to first or second gear. Anything above 3rd gear and then you have to maintain 4k+ rpm at the minimum. Most people who upgrade from 150cc bikes often are scared to revv the new bike above 5k rpm. This only makes things worse for the bike in the longrun.Originally posted by anu3682 View PostHello Guys,

. I have googled and got info about racetech suspension but it is way too expensive(what you guys say?). I have enjoyed the cornering ability of my previous bike (fz16), so just want to get the same from our cbr250. Anybody done mods(especially on handling part) from raceconcepts here.
It will be good if you people share your's best cornering snap on your cbr250
.had done that front suspension stiffening also the rear from race concepts , the result is much much better handling, i also posted a small review, see pos no #10943Last edited by FZERIDER; 03-01-2013, 10:31 PM.
