Re: Honda CBR 250R
I had a near miss the similar way two times. Now I make sure I can see both sides of the vehicle ahead before overtaking. Never a dull moment, I say.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostGuys I met with a small accident today, I was going behind the right of a car when a guy n wife cut the car, crossing the road, suddenly appeared in front of me, I collided into them, my right brake lever and handle bar bent a bit, I'd like to know the cost of both if I need to get it changed?
About the handlebar, it cost 800 I think. You can get local levers for 60-100 bucks if you don't have an Svc nearby.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
This happened near saidapet, I was right side of a car at 40-50 when some idiot n his wife cut off the car in front while crossing on the two wheeler, I had no time to react n bham, first that guy tried to talk shit, then I told him I was trying to overtake from the right side of the road and he cut off the car him or his wife weren't even wearing helmet, when I told him about that, he just shut his mouth. My side fairing got a slight scratch otherwise nothing other than the clip on n brake level damage luckily, I am looking to get my bike wrapped or painted by the year end types.. But before that, need to take the bike to the SVC, my hand got internal clotting on one of fingers, its red n blue ,soo by Friday or Saturday will take n figure out the damage, I also realized the importance of gloves... Really going to invest in good Set of gloves next.Originally posted by leech View PostI had a near miss the similar way two times. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Well, my near miss was at 70 kmph near Salem. I was on the left of a truck that took the right most lane. Suddenly the truck applied brake, and I did it too out of reflex, even though I couldn't see any thing. Whee - a splendor cut across the truck, missing its bumper by inches. It was ridden by a middle age guy, and this genius was cutting across a national highway in front of a 20 ton truck.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostThis happened near saidapet, I was right side of a car at 40-50 when some idiot n his wife cut off the car in front while crossing on the two wheeler, I had no time to react n bham, first that guy tried to talk shit, then I told him I was trying to overtake from the right side of the road and he cut off the car him or his wife weren't even wearing helmet, when I told him about that, he just shut his mouth. Only reason my bike wasn't totaled that day was because I anticipated that clown.
Next incident was at low speed, avoided by hitting the horn while overtaking a bus on the right. Incoming bullet from a cross road heard, and applied brake in time. Horns saves lives.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thats why I entertain idea of a aftermarket exhaust, I know many ppl would be against it, but when I had my temporary exhaust pipe on , it made a whole lot of difference in traffic, I only used the horn about 20%, the rest was my exhaust, it made a huge difference in many situations, the stock exhaust sound is non existent.Originally posted by leech View PostWell, my near miss was at 70 kmph near Salem. Or we can start riding/driving defensively. We can assume every other road user as a threat and just ride defensively with patience. It hardly adds 10 min to a 2 hour gruelling city ride.
But blood pressure stays normal.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
There is an awareness of noise pollution now, and vehicle with loud/aftermarket exhaust are being booked by the Traffic Police...Further the tune of engine is made for stock parts and any deviation is asking for problem....Stick with stock parts and design and have peace of mind.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostThats why I entertain idea of a aftermarket exhaust, I know many ppl would be against it, but when I had my temporary exhaust pipe on , it made a whole lot of difference in traffic, I only used the horn about 20%, the rest was my exhaust, it made a huge difference in many situations, the stock exhaust sound is non existent. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
You completely don't get my point, I'm not taking about super loud exhausts, something with a Decent sound but not too loud, but loud enough to let people know your coming. Ive had no issues with my earlier temp exhaust , even dropped a traffic cop, thought he wanted to stop me for the noise, but all he wanted was a ride to the next signal. Trust when I say it makes a huge difference in traffic , I mean it, my horn use probably lessens by a good 50-60% or more. Soo in before u assume that I want an exhaust to show off or anything, your completely wrong my friend, its more to do with traffic and riding in many many situations it makes a difference .Originally posted by psr View PostThere is an awareness of noise pollution now, and vehicle with loud/aftermarket exhaust are being booked by the Traffic Police...Further the tune of engine is made for stock parts and any deviation is asking for problem....Stick with stock parts and design and have peace of mind.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I was riding at 40-50, my city speeds don't exceed 60, mostly between 36-53kmph, this hero and his wife, cut off a car while crossing the road from the left side, me following the rules, was on the right of the car , where even if the car put brakes I would have too, but he didn't and this guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere giving me no time to brake or react, soo please don't assume I'm a rash driver, I used to be in my younger days, but as u mature, u compress and completely remove the squid in you. Also I like to reiterate the importance of gloves , the rider n his wife wasn't wearing helmet when his wife got small head injury I pointed to him about the helmet and he shut up.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostOr we can start riding/driving defensively. I live in Delhi. Traffic? Come to Delhi, you will know about it.. Chennai is close to nothing when it comes to traffic.. Horn? I don't even remember what my bike horn sounds like.. I used to use so much of horn, I got pissed off with it. I decided to unwire them and ride without horn.. It worked for me.. I don't use horn even now.. Of course I plugged the wires back..Originally posted by Deathwing View PostThats why I entertain idea of a aftermarket exhaust, I know many ppl would be against it, but when I had my temporary exhaust pipe on , it made a whole lot of difference in traffic, I only used the horn about 20%, the rest was my exhaust, it made a huge difference in many situations, the stock exhaust sound is non existent.
Well, What I am trying to convey is. Keep cool and ride safe.. An After sale exhaust ain't going to do anything other than kill your engine life. It is going to become a nu-sense and it will attract the cops.. Like what mod psr sir and @Divya Sharan have mentioned..

Nowhere did I mention that you were a rash rider, I only asked you to ride defensively - which by default makes the car driver a dangerous person, who cannot be relied upon.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostI was riding at 40-50, my city speeds don't exceed 60, mostly between 36-53kmph, this hero and his wife, cut off a car while crossing the road from the left side, me following the rules, was on the right of the car , where even if the car put brakes I would have too, but he didn't and this guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere giving me no time to brake or react, soo please don't assume I'm a rash driver, I used to be in my younger days, but as u mature, u compress and completely remove the squid in you. Do some reading on peripheral vision and try to incorporate the same in your riding attitude. It helps a lot!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks for the post Psr sir, Good to see senior members have not deserted this thread all along :thumbup:Originally posted by psr View PostThere is an awareness of noise pollution now, and vehicle with loud/aftermarket exhaust are being booked by the Traffic Police...Further the tune of engine is made for stock parts and any deviation is asking for problem....Stick with stock parts and design and have peace of mind.
Slightly OT: But awareness on pollution(of all sorts) is to an extent make the people to use dust masks/ear plugs to protect them and not ready to take necessary steps to reduce the current level. I for one never had a PUC check done for my vehicles but hoping that I will not make things worse.
Deathwing: if your going to say about the safety of riding gloves after your finger injury, I hope you won't take the same route for helmets and other safety gears for the rider.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Here in Chennai , its a lot different, I do know states like kerala n Delhi where aftermarket parts are banned, here in Chennai, the issues are much more than this, atleast more than 50% don't wear helmets , drive on wrong side of roads, lanes, break countless traffic rules, I think before stopping people for a exhaust I think they should penalize the countless traffic offenders, that's my opinion, exhaust could just be a slip on too, if I do change the full system , I will tune my bike accordingly and change my oil intervals to 2500-3000kms max. Here atleast in chennai, still soo man people don't wear helmet or ride n drive rash n some even don't have license, what happened to me was a freak accident as Sharan mentioned, from henceforth I'll be more wary while riding.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostI live in Delhi. Re: Honda CBR 250R
I am from Chennai and now I live in Delhi NCR.. You probably never came this side and that is the reason you don't know how the traffic here is.. Many across India don't follow rules. It is not only in Chennai.. People are negligent when it comes to their own safety. Obeying the rules here in Delhi NCR is like speaking with the wall.. If you are waiting for the traffic light to hit green and there are 20 seconds remaining, people waiting don't have patience.. Even if you are waiting, those who are behind you will start honking and if that doesn't make things worse, they come near you and abuse you.. Oh! Let me make things worse here, they even tend to beat you if you don't leave them way.. As if you are breaking the rules and they are following..Originally posted by Deathwing View PostHere in Chennai , its a lot different, I do know states like kerala n Delhi where aftermarket parts are banned, here in Chennai, the issues are much more than this, atleast more than 50% don't wear helmets , drive on wrong side of roads, lanes, break countless traffic rules, I think before stopping people for a exhaust I think they should penalize the countless traffic offenders, that's my opinion, exhaust could just be a slip on too, if I do change the full system , I will tune my bike accordingly and change my oil intervals to 2500-3000kms max. Here in NCR, the first thing the cops ask for if stopped is the PUC.. They know most of the commuters don't even know what it is.. It is mandatory to carry the PUC here.. Let me surprise you.. They asked me for a PUC though my bike was hardly 5 months old..Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostSlightly OT: But awareness on pollution(of all sorts) is to an extent make the people to use dust masks/ear plugs to protect them and not ready to take necessary steps to reduce the current level.
