Not at all heard when it is in neutral.
I guess it is the CCT. But the SVC guys (Kothari Wheels, Tilak Road, Pune) said last time that there is no problem with the CCT and they just adjusted the valve clearances. There is a shim noise(tick tick) but very less and is heard only when the engine is hot and seems normal to me.

The chain slider also seems to be loose. Can this be the cause of the sound?

      Please suggest.

      Thank You.
Can you ask them what they meant by "adjusting valve clearances"? The CBR 250 has a camshaft with an arm uses a roller rocker that directly meshes with the valve head and there is nothing to adjust as such, all you have is "replacement of the shims". The mechanic must either be a dimwit or not knows what he's doing or just procrastinates the issue on hand. Ask him to check the "clearances" between the valves if it's off by 0.05 replace the shims. Usage of shims must be done with extreme caution as the wrong shim at the wrong valve can be a supreme pain in the posterior, even more so for the vehicle. Get your shims replaced, CCT and tensioner pad checked.

Wrong mechanics can kill a motorcycle far sooner than the motorcycles themselves would. Irony!

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

The guys who say change oil at 200 kms are following an ultra safe running in program. Those guys also say mineral is best for running in. One guy even changed his oil at 100 kms, then at 700 kms. I lol'ed when I heard that one.

Other guys will chirp that the engines are already pre run in from the factory, so just follow the manual. The bike comes with synthetic oil from factory, so use that.

Imo, I feel the jokers who made the bike will know it best. I didn't wanna waste money and time changing oil at 100 kms or 200 kms. I changed my bike first oil at 962 kms, and the bike works fine. I currently hold the mileage record for CBR 250 at 49.8 kmpl, and my bike did 154 kmph on a slight decline in 2014, and I test the bike till 150 kmph every year.

Same thing when it comes to oil. As long as the oil meet the API SJ and MA standards you can use it for the recommended intervals.

Honda recommends 10w30 for atmosphere temperatures of upto 35 degrees Celsius. If you live in hot summer areas, a 10w40 like Shell Advance would help.

Shell rimula is also used by a couple of CBR owners to save cash, but I don't see the point in buying a diesel oil for ₹300 and using it for 2k kms. Rather stick to Honda mineral which is also ₹300 and use it for 4k. Also the 40 weight oil will reduce mileage by 1 or 2 kmpl, leading to a ₹200 loss over 6k kms as per my calculations.
Okay, I'll stick to the manual.
And i live in Mumbai. So i probably think the 10w30 is OKay-ish for me?
Because sometimes the temperature does go over 35 degree Celsius over here.
Also about your top sped, Some people have gone as far as 174 or also 180kmph with their CBR 250R so is it you that stops accelerating after 150kmph or the bike tops out at 150kmph?

Something important: I've bought a black CBR and the kids who play below my building are a real pain in the ass. They've made some scratches on the bike and it hurts me really bad. Is there anything you know of that can blend the scratches in colour. Like some kind of coating or cream that may help it?

Micro scratches or swirls can be removed with a layer of wax buffed nicely. You can do it yourself, all it takes is good wax, clean cloth and a lot of patience. If you feel you are not up for it, you could get it to some good detailing shop where they will do it professionally with buffing machine et all. Which will last longer and the bike will look gleaming all the time , but obviously will cost much much more for a good treatment.

          Cheers

Don't really want to discuss about top speeds, since it might push one to try without much experience/gear's. But to be honest top speed would vary based on slope/head wind/tail wind/riders weight and whole bunch of other stuff.

160 and above is not easy if not impossible unless some modification is done, like airfilter/ECU and exhaust.

About kids messing with the bike, get a bike cover.

The bike tops out at around 150-155 kmph; a lot of CBR 250 owners I've spoken to in the flesh say the same.

You really can't believe YouTube videos, as there is no guarantee the bike isn't modded.

Also, the Bajaj Domino's has been released. For 1.8 L. Which means inferior quality compared to the Duke 390. Feeling anything? [emoji6]

was just reading about wax and scratch removal.
Is the Turtle wax good? And will it cover up the light scratches?
Also, there's this another product from Turtle: Scratch and Swirl Remover.
It has a lot of mixed reviews.
So i don't know whether to go with wax or the scratch removal.
And if i went with the wax, will it cover up the scratches ?

Turtle wax or formula one wax is good. The key is getting the original product. Lot's of fake running around. And the thing with wax is that, it should be applied properly and buffed enough for it to do its job. A lousy work of waxing will show quite easily with bad patches and if applied on the mat parts it is going to leave a permanent whit residue on it. Hence the part of having good patience was mentioned.
And yes, it will remove scratches (minor ones, where the scratch cannot be felt on running hands over it) , and will remove swirls as well, but you gotta buff it right and even on all the body parts.
Just to put it to perspective , i washed my bike squeaky clean in 30 mins , but it took me over 3-4 hours to do the waxing of the full bike rightly, a lot of patience and effort goes into doing it right, but trust me the end result is worth it, a well layed out wax layer can last for quite some time and will help in keeping the bike clean.

                    Cheers

About the top speed, @zeeshan300975 from this thread said about going 174kmph on stock.
                      And that's like 25 more than 150.
I guess it does depends on the road and rider conditions.

                      • Re: The story so far.. My Honda CBR 250R

                        Hi brothers,

I need your advice on buying a second hand CBR 250r.

My previous bike is Apache -> KTM RC 200.
I met with an accident in 2015 February, I had shoulder and collarbone dislocation. So I sold my Apache and bought RC 200. Now I am selling it because of my shoulder getting pain due to the seating posture.

and my long ride is also not so perfect experience with the RC and my shoulder combined.

Recently my friend suggested RE bullet and CBR 250R.
But am not feeling good with RE due to the worst experience from SVC guys.

Yesterday I got a deal from my friend's side CBR 250R.
                        ODO - 3752 kms
                        2016 model - Full black
Reason for selling - Bike met with an accident and the owner is now moving to Repsol edition CBR 250R.
Owner has replaced from ground up and had spent 35K to replace (including front fork(complete set), visor, Frame(replaced but number alone welded back), front brake assembly and rotor, front alloy wheel and other small things)

                        Price quoted is 1.5L

So please give your advice whether to buy the bike.....

                        Thanks in advance.....

                        RC 200 (The GRUNTER) 2016 - 2016
                        CBR 250R (F.R.I.D.A.Y) 2017 - Present

174 seems a bit ambitious, 150 -155 seems about right, but anything above 140 kmph on the cbr seems uncomfortable, I mean, yeah it does it , but the bike seems out of its game at those speeds, and usually that high in the rev range or gear the bike is pretty much out of steam to push ahead with little progress, don't know why even bother then.
                          No offence.

I'hv probably gone beyond 140 maybe just 5-6 times the whole time i have had the bike, thats about 38k kms or so. 120-130 seems where the bike is most comfortable at.

                          Cheers

I believe this is an original one.
Turtle Wax: Super Hard Shell Car Wax: Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike

                            Formula 1 Carnauba Paste Wax (230 g): Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike
A lot of good reviews about both of them.
And i believe i will go with the formula one as they've mentioned that it removes minor scratches.

                            One question.
Will it be okay if i just wax the parts where it is scratched?
Because i think the other non-waxed parts will look dull.

Well, if it's from a good seller then get it off amazon, it is kinda guaranteed then.
The difference of a waxed and non waxed painted surface is very easy to understand in direct light , so not the best of idea.

                                No offence.

I'hv probably gone beyond 140 maybe just 5-6 times the whole time i have had the bike, thats about 38k kms or so. 120-130 seems where the bike is most comfortable at.

Lets see how my bike turns out.
I've done just 295kms on my bike and don't go above 60kmph for now.
