Re: Honda CBR 250R
I was in the same dilemma that how can they adjust the valve clearances without replacing the shims. I asked the service advisor and he said that the shims were not worn out and the gaps between them had increased so he adjusted the gaps and gave the bike back to me. No labour charges were taken from me.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post

Good going mate! She looks amazingOriginally posted by girishpaiv View PostBTW status on my babe.
Varient: 2016, White with ABS
Got in hand on 12th Nov.
Current odo reading: 341km
Did a small trip on 2nd day, near 150km following run-in rules, rpms kept strictly between 3-4k, gradual acceleration, rest after every 10-15km and avoiding constant-rpm for more than a few minutes
Max speed I reached till date is 72kmph, but now controling it at 63kmph, which is the speed at 4k rpm in 6th gear.
Its a smooth journey till now, I am absolutely loving the bike. The comfort it gives is super awesome.
I already feel fair power in 3-4k, cant wait to explore the higher revs.
I am planning to service my CBR at 500km and get rid of any metal debris in engine oil and oil filter. (I believe there is nothing bad for the bike in doing it if not good)
All going good, except that am still waiting for the registration no. and no. plate.
Here are a few pics

Did you know that thing on the left side of the bike(rear) can be used as a barbecue grill also?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Well this was after omr, I had to keep up with a fz1, a exhaust on revzilla , a full system, costs about 30-40k max, more than power, feel changes ,torque increases, one of the main reasons i like to switch exhausts is road presence and big difference it makes in traffic, of course I can't talk about reliability of the stock exhaust, funny thing I switched to a temp exhaust and switched back to stock, bike felt very smooth suddenly, duno why and how . At present I'm making a exhaust from this end aluminum can with a db killer and mid stainless steel pipe. In before the ones who say stick to stock setup, it is mainly for testing purposes, soo please don't judge. I have a factory where they do up the gixxer one make bikes for the track and new group b n d bikes too. Also have old moto gp 125/250/350 Yamaha tz 2 stroke bikes, plus s few more.Originally posted by Zerocool1431 View Post1. Going above 130kmph is really hard on Indian Roads.
2. I care for my wheels more than i care for myself, so i ain't really interested in stressing the engine.
3. Exhaust change? I've heard some famous exhausts for the CBR and ain't really interested. The sound of Engine is what i love or even the air filter. Which I'll probably do after 2 years from now. XD
I feel you too bro. :P xD
Spending 2 lakh more for a 2 lakh bike?
Nah, I'd rather save more money and buy a new one after some years.
Dropping the bike weight? I can probably do that, but can you suggest which parts i can remove/replace to reduce weight?
And um... An increase of 6 to 10bhp?
Isn't that TOO Much?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
SOmeone was speaking about top speeds.....I could hit 160kmph and keep it there for a good 5-10secs and it didn't go above it. It was maxing out at 155-156kmph on a straight road but does 160 if there is a slight slope.
And i did a stupid thing last week. After washing my bike, i let it idle for sometime and then slot it in top gear and revved it...maxed out at 172kmph
....All this on paddock stand. SO i bet the max the bike can do with stock gearing on road would be around 165kmph with the help of a slope.
All said, bike is sweet between 110-125kmph....i just love it!07 HH Zma

I'd say better to keep looking. As far as accident history bikes goes, you will have to ride it a bit to understand if it still runs well, with your shoulder issue, again it magnifies, if you get it but on longer rides you find out the bike is not handling to a 100 percent and the stress starts to fall on your shoulders.
Cheers

KrishnaI echo what krishna said. But on the other hand, please try and get hold of a friend's CBR and try it out for few days if possible a week or two and see how it fare's with your shoulder pain. I have been similar situation before. Had a slight back pain, i was to buy a CBR but put it off coz of the seating posture and bought a AS200. But my pain worsened. Sold it off and used my brother's Karizma and i still had a problem. Took a CBR from my friend who was planning to sell it, tried it out for a good 2 weeks and surprisingly no pain and i was comfortable too. Only then i bought it and now i am happy with the decision.Originally posted by sstherockz View PostHi brothers,
I need your advice on buying a second hand CBR 250r.
My previous bike is Apache -> KTM RC 200.
I met with an accident in 2015 February, I had shoulder and collarbone dislocation. So I sold my Apache and bought RC 200. Now I am selling it because of my shoulder getting pain due to the seating posture.
and my long ride is also not so perfect experience with the RC and my shoulder combined.
Recently my friend suggested RE bullet and CBR 250R.
But am not feeling good with RE due to the worst experience from SVC guys.
Yesterday I got a deal from my friend's side CBR 250R.
ODO - 3752 kms
2016 model - Full black
Reason for selling - Bike met with an accident and the owner is now moving to Repsol edition CBR 250R.
Owner has replaced from ground up and had spent 35K to replace (including front fork(complete set), visor, Frame(replaced but number alone welded back), front brake assembly and rotor, front alloy wheel and other small things)
Price quoted is 1.5L
So please give your advice whether to buy the bike.....
Thanks in advance.....07 HH Zma

I have ridden Cbr150r for 15 days as 250r and 150r both has the same riding posture..... In those few days I didn't get any pain on my shoulders and also the seating was very much comfortable.... So is the reason why am going to cbr250r...Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostI echo what krishna said. Regarding AS200 the suspension on it is a hard and tight setup not a soft one... That might be the reason why you have experienced back pain in it...

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Girishpaiv, that's a nice choice of color; almost similar to the 650.
On the subject of run in, most manufacturers provide a rpm limit, but not Honda. All they say is "for the first 500 kms avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration". That's it. No rpm limit. That's the run in specified for the Hornet, the CBR 150, 250, and 650. It got me thinking during the run in of my bike - how many people actually read the manual and follow it, as opposed to asking their friends and family for advice? Not many, I found. It would seem, logically, that most people take advice from people they know, rather than listen to a professional. Keith Code has similar views on the topic of riding advice.
Another factor in engine health is redlining. A bit of data collected from other CBR owners I spoke to in person confirmed my theory that most owners think nothing of redlining the bike, but are pretty much sure if you go above 5k rpm on your CBR 250 during run in, your engine will seize, or not bed in properly due to which your mileage would drop or you would see performance issues.
So again I turned to the manual, and what did that sucker say? "Do not allow the tachometer to enter the red zone, even after the engine has been run in. Running in the engine beyond recommended Max engine speed can damage the engine".
Two CBR owners I spoke to at the svc mentioned they had a couple of seals blown and shims replaced much earlier than normal due to frequent redlining. Proof no.1.
Now, my intention is not to create a huge debate, I just want to show new CBR owners the data : running in of your Honda is way more fun than other bikes. Keeping to a specific rpm limit is not only tedious, it's Dangerous on the street, because of the repeated glances to the console.Last edited by leech; 11-20-2016, 12:49 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
There is no such procedure for breaking in. I actually prefer the opp, hard break in just not redlining the engine. Best to break in the engine is in the city riding through the traffic or riding up a hill station. BTW you are riding a Honda not a Stupid RE(No offense RE owners) for the engine to get hot and sieze!Originally posted by girishpaiv View PostBTW status on my babe.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Strange! But, at least they didn't charge you for the work. If they'd have removed the head, they would have definitely charged labor for a head work, which in and of itself is a time consuming task. The fact that they didn't charge you clearly gives you the idea that they haven't opened the valve cover or for that matter checked the shim clearances.Originally posted by pushu097 View PostI was in the same dilemma that how can they adjust the valve clearances without replacing the shims. Kinda self explanatory.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The head cover gasket was also changed during the same time for which they added the labour charges. This tells that they opened up the valve cover but don't know if they worked on the shims or notOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostStrange! But, at least they didn't charge you for the work. Now reached 404km following the same rules.
Now at service centre to change engine oil and oil filter. Once done, I will experiment with higher revs, but with slow and gragual acceleration.
Am at an ASC now(Ananda honda), any other suggestion guys?
Chain looks like it has tiny dust particles, should I clean it now?
Any other thing to do?
I will be doing my service one hour from now.
Thanks
