Re: Honda CBR 250R
I'll just leave this here in case you do go with a used CBR250R. A lot of the work on shv18's CBR250R was not particularly pricey and was basic service and maintenance. I get that you will go in for a Duke in 2017, but this is just so that your time with the CBR250R goes a bit more smoothly.Originally posted by superfarer View PostDon't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. Re: Honda CBR 250R
A month or so ago I posted a query regarding having a grr grr feeling for every rotation of the wheels and that the rear wheel is not spinning freely at one point.
Yesterday got the brake pads changed in SVC and now that noise is gone along with that feeling of vibration at a certain point. Seems the issue was the brake pads after all. Just a couple of pics of my bike.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi,
Earlier, when engine becomes hot, coolent level in reservoir used to increase, and it decrease when engine becomes cool. Also, i need to topup coolant in reservoir.
But, sadly for past 2 months i didn't notice any increase/decrease in coolant level when engine becomes hot/cold. Didn't required coolant topup.
So, to find reason behind this mystery, today i removed right side fairing and then removed radiator cap.
To my surprise , their is low coolant level in radiator. 100 ml coolant required to topup till the radiator cap.
Free advice to all members, if you don't see any increase/decrease of coolant level in reservoir then plz check coolant level in radiatorLive To Ride✌

I felt many tiny complaints with the fresh new bike, I just rode 7Km, properly without engine slugs or reds, mostly near and less than 4k throughout.
Issues were:
1. Handle alignement with front wheel was slightly wrong
2. It got really hot real fast. By the time I covered 7km, It was really blowing out really HOT wind at my legs and even the seat was slightly hot!
3. The whining (the tiny vibration when you ON the engine switch and before starting ignition) was much lengthier, and in traffic, I had to start the bike before it stoped, thrice. I believe we should start bike only after it stops?
I think in abscence of the main mechanic Mr.Ramu, they just did normal check-ups and delivered the bike to me. As even the scratched exhaust shield was still there, which Ramu had promised earlier to me that he will replace before delivery.
Also I didnt felt the engine was smooth. It was kind of rough slightly!!!
Any concerns/advices?
Anyway I returned the bike to showroom so that I dont ride it more in this stage. Ramu will be there tomorrow and I believe he will fix it all up.
Congratulations on the new CBR.
Even i got mine a week ago.
I'm facing the same issues as you mentioned.
Engine getting hot really fast?
Yes it will happen and will also take a bit more time to cool than usual.
The tiny vibration you talk about.
Are you sure the radiator fan wasn't on at that time?
Because some days ago when i hit the switch on, the vibration kept on going for sometime and then I realised it was the radiator fan which was on.
(And i learnt, Don't just feel the bike, listen to it too.)
About the bike being rough.
Yes, it will definitely be as the engine is new to all the gears, try completing 150-200kms
And you'll feel the difference.
I've completed ~270kms on my beauty but still waiting for the registration. 😂
Ride safe!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I've found a way to remove radiator cap without removing right side fairing. Just unscrew the cap screw through the fairing gap and then open the cap through the handlebar gap. Then add the coolant through a tiny cup.Originally posted by bala13 View PostHi,

I use this method because I didn't want to keep opening fairings which could lead to broken/worn out fairing clips in the future.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys I have a doubt, I plan to change my oil immediately, but give my bike for service after a few 100kms for general service bar oil change, is that okay?I plan to change oil today and run the bike for another 400 n then give for service to the SVC.

Before removing side fairing i also tried this method. But screw was too tight. Re: Honda CBR 250R
When you give it to service, be specific that you don't need oil/filter change, just mention what you need to get done. This is easier if the bike is out of warranty, but they don't usually ask about it.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostGuys I have a doubt, I plan to change my oil immediately, but give my bike for service after a few 100kms for general service bar oil change, is that okay?I plan to change oil today and run the bike for another 400 n then give for service to the SVC.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
6000 kms review of pulsar 220 brake pads which is a direct fit to the rear brakes of the CBR 250: -
Braking is similar to oem pads. Brake fade is similar to oem pads too. I rely on the back brakes now in predictable braking.
I feel the pulsar 220 brake pads which retail around ₹202, is a very good replacement for the oem pads. The oem pads lasted 25k kms for my bike, and the pulsar's will have a life of around 10,000 kms, the way I use them.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
CB Hornet's Rear petal disc seems to be a direct fit for Non-ABS CBR250R. For ABS, it needs to be modified to accommodate the ABS ring.
Will try it out very soon. Have to replace my rear disc once the current pads wear out.07 HH Zma

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hey guys,
The knocking kind of sound from the engine is back. I got the valve clearances adjusted a few weeks back (no shims changed). Things were good till now. Although the noise was still there but very low. Now I can hear it again while riding and it is bothering me. It is present in all gears but only while the bike is in motion. Not at all heard when it is in neutral.
I guess it is the CCT. But the SVC guys (Kothari Wheels, Tilak Road, Pune) said last time that there is no problem with the CCT and they just adjusted the valve clearances. There is a shim noise(tick tick) but very less and is heard only when the engine is hot and seems normal to me.
The chain slider also seems to be loose. Can this be the cause of the sound?
Please suggest.
Thank You.

I'll complete 300kms by tomorrow.
When should i do my first oil change?
Some people say i should've done it after first 200kms.
*I don't have the manual as my bike hasn't been registered yet.*

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The manual says first service before 1000 kms/ 1 month. You gotta follow up with the dealer about your manual, invoice, insurance and RTO papers. Keep pestering them, it's the customers problem.Originally posted by Zerocool1431 View PostLeech just a small question.

The guys who say change oil at 200 kms are following an ultra safe running in program. Those guys also say mineral is best for running in. One guy even changed his oil at 100 kms, then at 700 kms. I lol'ed when I heard that one.
Other guys will chirp that the engines are already pre run in from the factory, so just follow the manual. The bike comes with synthetic oil from factory, so use that.
Imo, I feel the jokers who made the bike will know it best. I didn't wanna waste money and time changing oil at 100 kms or 200 kms. I changed my bike first oil at 962 kms, and the bike works fine. I currently hold the mileage record for CBR 250 at 49.8 kmpl, and my bike did 154 kmph on a slight decline in 2014, and I test the bike till 150 kmph every year.
Same thing when it comes to oil. As long as the oil meet the API SJ and MA standards you can use it for the recommended intervals.
Honda recommends 10w30 for atmosphere temperatures of upto 35 degrees Celsius. If you live in hot summer areas, a 10w40 like Shell Advance would help.
Shell rimula is also used by a couple of CBR owners to save cash, but I don't see the point in buying a diesel oil for ₹300 and using it for 2k kms. Rather stick to Honda mineral which is also ₹300 and use it for 4k. Also the 40 weight oil will reduce mileage by 1 or 2 kmpl, leading to a ₹200 loss over 6k kms as per my calculations.Last edited by leech; 11-19-2016, 03:28 AM.
