Guys I have a doubt, change of airfilter to k&n air filter on stock exhaust, does it need tuning? I can understand with a full exhaust system or slip on, but Wat about just a airfilter?

I can hear cluttering noice between 5k-6k rpm and its coming from the engine and it is just 2.3k on the odo...what could be the reason?

Well you might need to because it will be pushing more air into the engine and engine should know what to do with it, better thing to do is stick to stock one because after all that tuning etc at max you will get 1 bhp increase which will be completely invisible in real world unless you want to put some numbers on race track.

Does it happen when engine is cold ? if yes then it could be timing chain you can get it adjusted at SVC.

If u hear the mild cluttering sound from the engine when you try close the throttle from 5K-6K rpm, then I too face that every time. I was informed that its there on every cbr by trained cbr technician from Honda service centre. also I could see the same in many cbr blogs. last week I could read this from the epic review of cbr which completed 1.25lacs kms. he mentioned like this "Except a mild cluttering noise between 5000-6000 rpm which was traced to the reed valve, it wasn’t much of a bother. ".
Experts, please correct me If I am informed/understood wrong.

Yes improper valve clearance will lead to stitching noise irrespective of the RPM band you are in.

And the folks suggesting straight away to go for timing chain replacement, please don't straight away point at the timing chain it is a superior part and will not go kaput at 2.3 K kms even under heavy thrashing.

The stitching noise is mainly due to below reasons :

1. Improper valve clearance
2. Chain Tensioner

Mind you the timing chain is around 900 rs and the labour will cost you around 1.5-2K as it will need the head and the clutch side case to be opened.

Please get the shims inspected and while they are inspected get the timing chain and rocker arms inspected too, because you are not supposed to open the engine head again and again.

Have you done proper run-in of the bike ?

Cheers,
Sanjay

Well I am no expert, but I know this, each and every engine in this world will have its own sweet buzzing spot and for the CBR it is indeed near 5-6K rpm. Well that was Deepak dongre's loved lal ghoda :P

We are awaiting a long term review from aargee as well. He has also crossed above 1 lac kms, wonder where he is along with his mighty CPR.

Hey bro

Even i was advised by SVC that its there on every CBR...it comes only between 5k - 6k rpm. I will visit some other SVC and will ask them to check the reed valve and the shims. I hope this issue will get resolved.
It feels really bad when you get such problems on a brand new bike.😞

Hey Sanjay,
For first 1500kms i was riding under 5k rpm with an average speed of 60 to 70kmph..even after 2.3k on the odo i dont rev much because i hardly get any chance thanks to mumbai traffic. Only once i have topped 145kmph when i was on a weekend bike trip to lonavla ( i was in proper riding gear) when the odo was around 2k and at that time also the cluttering noice was there.
I will visit SVC and ask them to check the valve clearance and shims. Hope it will get resolved.

Thank you 😇

There's nothing to report much other than drop in FE which we're still trying to figure out as why; Work & Family in REAL world are taking more priority keeping me slightly away motorcycling & social media. Whenever we fix the issue, I'll share it here. For now, all is well.

I was beginning to think that you have gone again to KNOW THE UNKNOWN and that kept you out of this thread.

I also heard that, you had tried new fork oil for your CPR. Have you mentioned it here before, I might have forgot if you did(poor memory you know). How is it keeping up?

Yes, I'm trying to keep out of this thread for there are brilliant minds than I; its for everyone's & my own good
I'm having this doubt whether I know to ride a motorcycle or not for past 1+ year, so, I'm in the process of learning that first

Your memory is good; I still have the Motul fork oil sealed in the bottle, yet to try.

Guys I met with a small accident today, I was going behind the right of a car when a guy n wife cut the car, crossing the road, suddenly appeared in front of me, I collided into them, my right brake lever and handle bar bent a bit, I'd like to know the cost of both if I need to get it changed?

lever 120 bucks mostly
clip- on is probably 600.

that 120 bucks is for the clutch lever the brake lever might be 160-180 at max.

Posting here after a bit long, hope you all are doing good with your CBR.

I was not using the bike for almost a month and when I started it woke up without much drama. Then again after a week when I was riding it engine auto turned off on signal while I put it on N, and started back only after few Accelerator and Self starter press.

Last service was done on December and afterwards it ran approx 3500kms.

Anything serious to be taken on next service and what could be the reason for sudden engine shutdown?
