I changed the oil filter and oil, but while removing the oil filter cover, one of the bolts broke, with three fourths of it stuck inside the housing.
I fixed back the remaining 3 bolts along with new filter and washer, but I have a slight leak from the oil filter area. It's very minute, noticeable only after wiping the area, and running the engine for some time.
What can be done about the stuck bolt?😠
You have to drill the broken thread from the casing, very carefully, best left to those who are good at these. IIRC, Maneesh had the same dilemma, so perhaps he can chime in as to what he did. But broken bolts are a common phenomena, drill them out, my Shogun had the same problem. Check the threads on the engine casing, if the threads are good, you are good to go, if you find any slippage or not enough torquing, you need to rethread the casing.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Drilling is not necessary.
You have to just find an experienced welder in this type of work.
They take another rod n weld your broken bolt to the rod. N after torquing to this rod they took out the broken bolt without drilling!!!
This process take hardly 3 minutes.
Don't go directly for drilling option.
First try this welding method.

Hello guys, I am new to CBR250. I am second owner of it(2013 model, Red Grey) and at present oddo reading is 13000km.
I have been facing 2 issues
Low FE
When I bought it around 4 months ago, it used to return me 36-38kmpl at 80-100kmph. As I frequently go to himalayas and ride in slush, snow, on broken roads and no roads, I changed it's rear tyre to VEE RUBBER 130/80 off road tyre.
As expected, FE dropped down to 33-35. Recently it has reduced even more. Yesterday I went on 600km highway run and got FE of 28 at 100kmph and 33 at 75-80kmph. I had a minor fall at low speed,my observation is that this even reduced FE is since that incident. I was going through the thread and was astonished to see that one of the fellow leech got 46kmpl at similar spped.
PS I am using Shell advance ultra Fully Synthetic engine oil and my riding doesn't involve frequent acceleration and braking. Sudden engine shutting
the other issue that I am facing is that sometimes it's engine shuts off suddenly while the bike is on the run and then it just doesn't start. It has happened thrice in last 3 months. It happens within 1-2 km from the start and has happened at low speeds(<30kmph).
Please suggest some measures to rectify these issues.

I calculated fe by tankful method. My tyres are stock Contigo. That 46 mileage is from a controlled mileage test, with minimal acceleration and deceleration, majority done at ~70kmph.
Yes, while removing. I didn't tight the remaining bolts too hard while putting it back for fear of them snapping.
About drilling and welding, if I get it to the Honda Svc can they fix it? I'm afraid of giving it to a local welder/driller since I moved to a small town.
It means it was weakened before. Show it to Honda ASC guys, they normally know the workshops who perform the repairing works. Ask them to take care while removing it so as not to scratch the facing of the oil filter housing.

According to a dealer abroad who happened to leak the price of BMW 310 have quoted the price lower than the 390. If it's true then it's gonna be a treat for enthusiasts😃
G310R will be a good bike with sheer performance and quality for sure and It will be excellent if they price under 2Lacs. But as far as I heard, this bike will be sold and serviced only by BMW dealers(even if TVS makes it for them). So If you are a resident of major city where BMW dealers available, then its good. Also no clue how we can fix that bike in a trouble once you are out of town or in touring. Honda has a big plus in that factor. Buying a bike is a one time deal and its a happy moment but maintenance is life time event
Trivial question: The starter used to take quarter of a second to start the bike when I bought it 3 years ago, now it takes one second, even with a new, better battery. Is this due to wear of the starter motor/solenoid?
