Re: Honda CBR 250R
Soo wait a minute, I'm on motul 10w40 I think , fully synthetic, will I get a lower mileage? I don't usually rev my bike like always to redline, it usually between 4k-6k rpm and highways up to 7k I.e 111kmph, I'm not particularly bothered about mileage , but I see a better mileage on Honda throttle oil as you guys mentioned, someone earlier said its harmful to switch brands of oil on the bike, I change my oil every 3000-4000km, now I'm making it a point to change at 3000, max at 3500 to preserve my engine life and at 6000-7000 get it serviced at the SVC bar the oil and oil filter change. Also I seem to have a lot of fuel on the last bar, because at 1 bar I fill my bike is full at 8- max 9 ltrs and I have a good 4.5 ltrs left in reserve, this has baffled me, maybe some fuel has stuck , but I make it a point to idle my bike on every cold start daily at least till one bar on the temp gauge is shown. I rode the bike in mixed conditions a mix of highway and city traffic did 180-200kms still had half a tank of fuel left good for another 150-180 kms. I guess if I ride between 70-90 on 6th gear I should do 400kms on a full tank comfortably.Originally posted by Pruthviraj View Post

Re: Honda CBR 250R
My office has been moved to secunderabad from banjara hills. Its a very short ride now a days but in B2B traffic where i can't even hit the 4th-5th cog. So such a mileage is expected. I used to get 29-33kmpl when my office was in Banjara hills.Originally posted by Pruthviraj View PostRide it between 70 to 100 kmph on highways and you will also get similar 40+ kmpl figures.07 HH Zma

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I use Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 4T, but don't think that engine oil will make such a large difference of day 10/15 kmpl as Motul is one of the best brand of engine oils available. Infact it is not possible. Riding on highways @ 90/100 kmph @ 5500/6000 rpm, no clutch use, no brake use, no sudden accelaration or downshifting are the reasons for these 40+ kmpl figures. It is not possible in city to ride like that hence fuel consumption figures drop to 25/30 kmpl.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostSoo wait a minute, I'm on motul 10w40 I think , fully synthetic, will I get a lower mileage? Re: Honda CBR 250R
I haven't personally tested the CBR on Shell Advance ultra, but from what I've read about oils, it's the weight that matters. Any decent 10w30 oil will give more mileage than a 10w40. It's not about quality, but the extra weight would slow the bike's acceleration down very slightly and also the mileage. That's the reason they use lighter oils on track bikes.
I was shocked to get only 43 kmpl on Castrol 15w40, purchased from Castrol dealer. The test conditions - same road, same fuel from same bunk, same rider, same tyres and tyre pressure.
Ofcourse, the concern here is not mileage, but tank range, and engine performance.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
You're right. Using an oil thicker than the recommended would mean good lubrication, but also would mean the engine has to work more harder for the same amount of power output, and where does the power come from? You got it! It's fuel. So, more engine strain means more fuel consumption increases. Talk about oil drag.Originally posted by leech View PostI haven't personally tested the CBR on Shell Advance ultra, but from what I've read about oils, it's the weight that matters. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys i need a suggestion from you
One hondashowroom is offering me a CBR250(FULL BLACK)STD at 1.50 it is a display peice and stuck at showroom from months due to less demand of 250 so i was thinking to buy that instead of yamaha R15S should i go for that CBR or R15S
Ps:- its unused peice just non moving product
My doubt is that they might be clearing old stock for upcoming honda CBR.
I am confused and what should i do?
It dosent has ABS as it is STD version is braking effective in STD??
Need to give them a decision in 48 hours...help
Thank you

Check the odometer of the bike, check for damages or repaint, check VIN number for the manufacturing date.
Why did they give you 2 days to make a decision? Where is the hurry? If they are giving discount, surely there must be a reason.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Scouted a 9w LED auxillary lamp(totally 18w) for 900Rs in Chennai, GP road and got it mounted in the RVM clamp. It looks a bit awkward but i get better illumination of the road. The farther i point it, the oncomer is blinded, the nearer i point it, makes no sense. So now i had adjusted it to point just a mark above the high beam. Have not checked if it blinds the oncomers. Will post photos soon showing how it lights the road.
This is how it looks.
Ride Safe!
Cheers,

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Has anyone tried upgrading the battery from the stock Exide? Can you let us know the AH output of the same, and if the stock wiring can take the additional load? Oh, and the RR unit too, would it still function the same without heating up more than normal? (Thinking of relocating the RR unit to the tail, for better cooling. The stock setup, is too close to the engine.)
TIA!

I got information from my sources
In 2014 a customer asked for abs hlack cbr and showroom accidentally registered non ABS version and the customer argued and took ABS version and since then the non ABS is stuck in showroom thats the reason for discount
If i buy i will be the second owner
Bike is non abs and has not been out of the showroom since 2014
At what price should i buy the bike?
The bike is in A1 condition full black version

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Try haggling for more. Since you'd be the "second owner" the IDV of the bike would go down to about a lakh, and that could be used as a valid argument.Originally posted by jatints View PostThanks gor replying mate

If you're satisfied with the condition, and are sure that none of the parts have been swapped with (SVC's do this a lot! I've had parts swapped from crashed vehicles onto mine :/), then go for it!

Ill argue upon it and condition is a1 and if i get any defected part or anything like that i will put it in insurance claim and get it corrected!!
Going showroom tomorrow

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Jon, I'm not an expert on batteries, but Im using the Amaron 9 ah agm.
There is no extra load per se if you put in a bigger battery. The battery does not draw current in to itself, it has to be forced into the battery. So if you charge a 7ah battery with a 1ah current, in theory it should charge in 7 hours. If you put in a 14 ah battery, it will take longer to charge, 14 hours on the same charger to shove the electrons into the battery.
A bigger battery will take longer to charge, but agm batteries charge much faster than normal lead acid batteries. So in four hours of highway riding, you could charge up a 9 ah easily. According to yuasa, agm batteries have an average service life of 3-5 years. Im using a 9ah in my ups too.Last edited by leech; 12-15-2016, 08:31 AM.
