Another simple question: I am able to rotate the bar-end weights on my new bike by hand. Is this normal or should it be tightened?

My 2012 CBR also has rotating bar end weights. They rotate stiffly, however.Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostWhats the cost? Waiting for the review.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
On my bike they rotate pretty easily actually. Do they need to be tightened?Originally posted by leech View PostMy 2012 CBR also has rotating bar end weights. They rotate stiffly, however.
On another note has anyone tried to adjust the gear lever's position to suit their preference? Its position on my bike is a little uncomfortable for my liking and I was looking forward to adjust it.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
You will need couple of 10mm spanners, and need to loosen the two lock nuts and turn the rod to adjust the lever height. this gives you a limited range of adjustment which should be enough in most cases.Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostOn another note has anyone tried to adjust the gear lever's position to suit their preference? Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes, some bikes have their bar end weights being able to rotate that's completely normal. Even if you turn to tight them, you might find them they are already torqued to the max. Nothing to worry. Most CBR's bar end weights have either one or two, that rotates.Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostWhats the cost? Waiting for the review.

What I infer from your video is that a particular link has jammed, meaning the rollers are jammed, in that, they aren't rolling and following the other rollers evenly, that's why there is a jump that you see. Use WD 40 or kerosene, rinse them for half to one hour, clean them thoroughly with a rag, rotate the wheel by hand and observe the chain links for any tight spots, use WD 40 if required and then lube the chain, after going for small ride.Originally posted by kannanmr16 View PostBrothers need your opinion on this issue.
My chain tends to jump at little at a point, it also seems to move slightly to the right at that point. I will post the video I took this morning here. I have also changed the chain with sprockets recently, it's about 7k with the new chain. This issue was also present on the old chain and one of the reason I changed it. Is this a problem with wheel alignment or the chain sliders?

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

You can move the gearshifter arm (no1 in the image) by 1 slot in its milling by removing the bolt( no 16 in the image) using 10 no spanner. It will provide relief to the ankle.Last edited by Pruthviraj; 12-26-2016, 09:36 PM.

Guys going to Ooty, take your documents with you, including PUC. Cops stop and check the vehicles. They charge ₹100 for no helmet, with a receipt and all.

I was riding to an intersection, wanting to take a right turn, when I saw a car with high beam on, coming the opposite direction. Now, due to previous experience, I always slow down for an intersection, no matter if a vehicle is in sight or not, no matter if it's 2 pm or 2 am.
Just as I was about to take the right turn, there comes this KSRTC bus which was 'hiding' at the intersection, wanting to take a left turn to the road I was in. I couldn't see it before because the oncoming cars lights blinded me totally. That bus took a whopper of a left turn which took the whole road, and I was going to become, as they say in UT3, PANCAKE!
Lucky me, the speed was below 40 kmph, so I had an extra 5 feet reaction distance. I got to live another day..Last edited by leech; 12-27-2016, 02:35 AM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Generally how often CBR chain slack needs to be adjusted? I know this is subjective matter as per usage but still wanted to hear from other owners. Another thing is, here at my place no local bike shops does have the paddock stand so I need to go to SVC for chain slack adjustment with proper care. Is it safe to adjust chain slack or chain maintenance from local shops?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
It's spelt slack. I seem to go for chain adjustment every 6 months or 5000 kms. Currently chain is on 32,650 kms. I oil it every week. When I'd given the chain once or twice to local mech, they over tightened the chain leading to misalignment, aka 'kat kat' noise when you push the bike or rotate the rear tyre. I had to give the bike back at the ASC to fix it.Originally posted by hypheni View PostGenerally how often CBR chain slake needs to be adjusted? Yeah I corrected the spelling just after postingOriginally posted by leech View PostIt's spelt slack. I seem to go for chain adjustment every 6 months or 5000 kms. Currently chain is on 32,650 kms. . And that's what I wanted to hear the interval period. Thanks.

not recommended to move the linkage on the shift shaft.Originally posted by Pruthviraj View PostYou can move the gearshifter arm (no1 in the image) by 1 slot in its milling by removing the bolt( no 16 in the image) using 10 no spanner. It will provide relief to the ankle.
one simply needs to loosen nuts 11 & 13 and then rotate the rod (9), this will move the lever up/down depending on the direction of rotation of the rod.
Once you achieve the desired position of the lever, tighten the nuts 11 & 13.
