Re: Honda CBR 250R
I am in the process of running-in my bike and it has stalled 3 times while slowing down from about 70 km/hr in top gear to bringing it down to 1st gear. I just use engine braking as much as I can and then down-shift slowly to the 1st gear while not using any throttle.
Could there be any issue with the fuel injection system or anything? It has completed only about 715 kms in about 17 days.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Does it stall when you give throttle? Change the riding pattern and see if the stalling continues.Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostI am in the process of running-in my bike and it has stalled 3 times while slowing down from about 70 km/hr in top gear to bringing it down to 1st gear. Re: Honda CBR 250R
I had similar issue early on and what I did was switch fuel/bunk. I used shell v-power for a few tankful and it has never occurred again. Now once a month I use v-power.Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostI am in the process of running-in my bike and it has stalled 3 times while slowing down from about 70 km/hr in top gear to bringing it down to 1st gear. Re: Honda CBR 250R
I have a doubt guys, does quality of fuel affect your run in? Cause I used normal fuel mostly for my bike . Only recently I used premium fuel, today I switched back to normal fuel, I don't feel much difference in power or smoothness , infact I feel the bike runs better on normal fuel maybe because of my run in, maybe I'm wrong, I'm just a wee bit confused.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Change ur riding style. Use of clutch is required otherwise bike will stall..Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostI am in the process of running-in my bike and it has stalled 3 times while slowing down from about 70 km/hr in top gear to bringing it down to 1st gear. How to confirm whether the stator coil is gone or not?Originally posted by leech View PostI've heard of a couple CBR owners having their stator coils conk off. Also a ninja 650 owner had his stator coil conk off after 50k kms. I was planning to buy a spare coil, but never got round to it.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I am in 6th gear, coasting to slow down for the speed-breaker. Then I engage the clutch, and shift down gears one by one. Somewhere in between here the engine just goes dead. I am not giving absolutely any throttle here till the time i disengage the clutch which is after I have engaged the 1st gear.Originally posted by leech View PostDoes it stall when you give throttle? Will have to try that.Originally posted by kannanmr16 View PostI had similar issue early on and what I did was switch fuel/bunk. I used shell v-power for a few tankful and it has never occurred again. Now once a month I use v-power.
Its actually when I use the clutch that the engine is going dead. I am not lugging the engine.Originally posted by jack_daniels View PostChange ur riding style. Use of clutch is required otherwise bike will stall..

Re: Honda CBR 250R
If the battery is zero then it is gone, you will need to replace it, as CBR comes with a sealed maintenance free battery and if it gets dead due to something or can not be brought back to life. In a second or goes to 0 from 100%.If the battery is not getting charged then the RR unit or stator coil can be suspect. Stator coil can be burnt for no reason and @ any no of kms. Have seen them getting burnt in 19000 kms as well as 60000 kms.Originally posted by k.sagar View PostBike is not in use for more than a month and there is no current in battery, so no ignition. His mechanic told him his stator coils need to be replaced ( i doubt this, i never heard stator coil going kaput. Must be tht earthing current problem here which is famous in old cbr's).
Both the tyres and break pads are new.
I have the budget to buy the new one but it doesn't make sense to buy new one when my intention of using it is just for next 2 or 3 yrs.

Will still suggest to stay of such a high mileage bike.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Ashish, mention this to the SVC and ask them to check the clutch play.
k. sagar check the voltage of the battery when the engine is on, and also with the engine off.
The voltage with engine on should read 14.20 volts else the rr unit or stator coil is kaput, and the voltage with engine off should read atleast 12.2 volts, else the battery is kaput.
A bad rr unit could cause the stator coil to fail, so when replacing a burnt stator coil, have the mechanic check up on the rr unit as well.Last edited by leech; 01-04-2017, 08:22 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Change your riding style. You need to 'blip' the throttle as you downshift, it's also called 'rev-matching'Originally posted by AshishTamhane View PostI am in 6th gear, coasting to slow down for the speed-breaker. sometimes these fi bikes could turn off if you ride as you are doing currently.. i've seen it happen on the ktm too.
btw, you disengage the clutch when you pull the lever in and you engage the clutch when you let go of the lever.Last edited by s1d; 01-04-2017, 10:20 PM.

I not discouraging you by any means, But i prefer the force of the fall to be absorbed by the faring, than to get it bypassed directly to the frame.
And frame sliders are costly

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Problem is that, even small falls snap clutch and brake levers, and the clip on gets bent too. The frame sliders would be useful in such small falls, but the bigger ones might damage the frame as you mentioned. Hard choices.Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostI not discouraging you by any means, But i prefer the force of the fall to be absorbed by the faring, than to get it bypassed directly to the frame.
