Re: Honda CBR 250R
I really don't know how they did this because i also thought that to adjust the valve clearances the shims need to be replaced. The noise has reduced now but today i observed it has not gone away totally. It is sometimes heard when the engine is hot but i suspect that the bike will need change of shims in the future.Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostHow did they adjust the valve clearance without replacing the shims? Can you please shed some light on this part?
Thank you!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
It is tensioner component; works as cam chain guide as well as helps maintaining appropriate tension on cam chain. There are two - each side of timing chain.Originally posted by Guru Kumar View Post2nd Is A Part I Don't Remember The Name It Pushes The Chain To Maintain The Tensioner-----

Re: Honda CBR 250R
A little SHIM noise once engine heats up is acceptable. Specifications should be within normal limits. Nothing to worry about.Originally posted by pushu097 View PostI really don't know how they did this because i also thought that to adjust the valve clearances the shims need to be replaced. Re: Honda CBR 250R
I had assumed the shims should be changed as soon as as you hear that jingling noise. Is it really ok to wait for the noise to become louder before changing shims?Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostA little SHIM noise once engine heats up is acceptable. BTW, what's the waiting period of CBR 250R in Bangalore? I think, I can wait for the 390/G310R max till March. If neither shows up, CBR is the only option.Originally posted by Zerocool1431 View PostPearl Amazing White.😍Originally posted by sanjaynk15 View PostCongratulations buddy! Keep us updated

Check all fluid levels (oil level, coolant level, brake fluid level). Start it up and check all lights, horns and then you are good to go.

Can you please tell me how to ride her for the first 1000kms?
Also after how many kms can i speed her up a little by little?
I've decided not to take her above 50kmph for the first 1000kms.
Is that okay?
Please explain me the break in procedure.

Keep the speeds below 60 for the first 500kms and then you can gradually go up with short bursts till 80km/h. Don't hold it there for long, only SHORT bursts. Don't lug the engine, shift gears whenever necessary. During cold starts, let the engine warm up for atleast 15-20 seconds. The bike is equipped with auto choke, keeps the rpm above 1.5k for a few seconds. So start riding only after rpm comes down to 1.4k. Regarding the Fi, see to it that there is enough fuel always, don't ride for long once the last bar starts blinking. The engine heat will be more during the break in so don't worry about that. Enjoy your ride mate and ride safe!
One more thing, the chain looks too dry in the pictures. Make sure its lubed with atleast grease. If not, take it to the svc and get it lubed.Last edited by sanjaynk15; 11-08-2016, 06:19 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I was riding with little shim noise for last 12,000 KM since I bought the bike - a used one. There was absolutely no change is power delivery or fuel consumption. Got valve clearances checked at a renowned Honda SVC in Delhi few months ago, but clearances were within normal limits as per them (which I doubt they checked it precisely). Luckily I met an xBHP fellow, Raminder Singh, who was present there at that time. The noise still persisted.Originally posted by leech View PostI had assumed the shims should be changed as soon as as you hear that jingling noise. Recently, I checked valve clearances by myself at home only to know that all clearances were out of specs. Replaced all 4 SHIMs to the nearest possible specified clearances; tried to keep towards loose side as I was doing it for first time and hence tried to be at safer side. SHIMs noise is almost vanished - very little noticeable only when engine is quite hot. At same time, cleaned the throttle body as well. I will check the valve clearances again after 20,000 KM.Last edited by arvstreetracer; 11-08-2016, 06:25 PM.-----

Also what max RPM can i go on for the 1st 500 and 501-1000kms?
I keep my eye more on than rpm meter than the speed.😂 Because i don't want to strain her even a little bit.
Also about the engine heating, thank you for letting me know. I just touched the engine and it was a bit hot after 15 mins of parking.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Read owners manual there's complete detail about run in method. Don't know what cbr250 rpm limit is during run in period but I guess it should be 4.5-5k rpm.Originally posted by Zerocool1431 View PostWhat do you mean by Bursts?
