Re: Touring mods completed and accessories ordered
can I see some pics of the mod on the handle n wind screen please. I do hear a lot of complaints with bothOriginally posted by icemang View PostHello friends,
Fellow CBRers would remember my project to improve the riding posture of the CBR. The aim of the project was to make the bike a better tourer than she currently is.
The tension bar mod is a temporary solace; I will be training on odds and ends of Perspex with a heat gun with the view to change the shape of the upper part of the windscreen.
I have asked a friend in Thailand to get me a nifty accessory - a smart helmet box. Now before you guys start loading your guns, this is a completely detachable one and need not be an eyesore/thief magnet. It is available at thaimotorbox.com. Just go thru the site and the pics of some CBRs with it and most of you would be aggreeable.
Pics of the mod and the box included.
Initial riding impressions
The front has lightened up quite a bit. The pressure on the inside of the palm, the wrist and the lower arm has reduced perceptibly. The posture is now a bit more upright than it was earlier. Strangely, the bike has given up the hesitation (as has been pointed out by a number of online fora) to turn in and now is able to bank into a turn much, much better than it did earlier.
I am planning a trip with a small load to Jamnagar in the coming few days and will update the highway experience accordingly.
Regards,
Maneesh

Re: Honda CBR 250R
it probably might. I think it's better off without such addons. One needs something soft like aluminum that would deform rather than transfer the force of impact to frame(and maybe save the cheaper fairing) take the example of the stock crash guard on the Duke, it deforms at the slightest impact and does really save the frame and I've seen it happenOriginally posted by Deathwing View PostI have a doubt , in case of a crash or fall, god forbid won't the frame take the impact?
(once when I had to gently drop my bike due to loss of balance at parking and once when a friend crashed) the crash guard and levers absorb most of the impact.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi guys, I have done a ride to Munnar (Hill area, most of you might be knowing the place) yesterday. It was after my first service at 608 Km odo. Bike was butter smooth after first service and I was happy I could do most of the bends at 40Kmph and I never felt bike went out of control throughout the journey. But after some 250 km I felt everything changed. Gear shift became very tight. Engine sound was very rough. I could feel the vibrations in my foot peg. I heard some coin jingling sound. I remembered our fellow member aargees experience of engine seizing that time!!Fortunately nothing that sort of happened. I ride slowly (at 40 -50 kmph) after that. I recollect some where in this thread mentioned for coin jingling sound issue we have to replace SHIMs. Now my concern is,
1.Whether I need to change engine oil now to get back the engine smoothness? Odo is @ 1200 km now. I have changed oil @ 608 km in first service.
2.Is It necessary to replace SHIMs now. If I request, the ASC can replace the SHIMs?
Kindly advice. Thanks in advance.

When does the jingling noise appear? At certain speeds, or certain engine rpms?Originally posted by shan2306 View PostHi guys, I have done a ride to Munnar (Hill area, most of you might be knowing the place) yesterday. Does the sound appear when the engine is running for sometime, or is the sound there on starting the vehicle?
I have some coin jingling tiny bells ringing sound sometimes. It's all at random, I couldn't get to reproduce it.

The jingling noise appeared after some 250 km ride that too above 5.5k rpm at 5 th and 6th gear.Originally posted by leech View PostWhen does the jingling noise appear? At certain speeds, or certain engine rpms?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
From what I can see, when the handlebar is straight, yes your front fluid reservoir is surely in need of a top up. I don't think the same is true for the coolant reservoir. I think it's pretty much on the right spot for where it's supposed to be. Your front brake reservoir could use some top up for sure.Originally posted by madhav766 View Post
Both need top up right?
You can't go wrong with a Honda, can you?Originally posted by abhishek_pustake View Post. At last, Honda is Honda! Cheers!✌️
Also installed frame sliders and tank pad that day itself.
It delivers what it's supposed to with a relaxed and calm composure. Be it the engine performance and smoothness, they are always a class apart.
Congratulations, Bunny. I happen to see your post in FB the other day and this BS III did give you a good fetch. Keep us posted on your tales. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys I face this thing on my bike while braking in the front, katak sound from the fairing or forks, it's definitely not my brake pads as I know the screeching sound n loss of brake bite you feel but somehow it's from the handlebar, it's not overly bothering me but something I'll keep a eye on.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Did firstever 200 km run on my CBR. Noticed these things
(1) Felt much engine heat in first 20 kms.
(2) first 3 gears didn't seem to be smooth
(3) riding & seating is superb. even pillion ~ my wife liked the seating & felt so much less shocks compare to my old activa.
(4) 6th gear makes u feel like a king. Rode the bike under 5k Rpm & in btwn 65-70 km.
(5) Seating posture is superb, u really have feel of riding a sport bike. Stability is another amazing thing.
(7) Horn is superb.
Also have some queries.
(1) ABS indicator light got off, is it normal ? (Pic 1)
(2) Is temperature in the pic normal ? (Pic 1)
(3) Is this showing oil level ? {Pic 2 & 3; pic 2 showing level when bike is standing & pic 3 when bike is on side stand}
(4) Planning another 250 km ride in 2 days. Should I go or wait till first service ??

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Changed spark plug yesterday. There was some spark knocking under load for last few hundreds km. Issue resolved after new plug.
Old one.

Old vs. New. Clearance was more than specified limits on checking on old one. Honda recommends 0.8 to 0.9 mm.
