Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes bhai, ill be changing the whole set as yesterday they did not have the chain sprocket (which is good as they asked for 3k).Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostCutting a link or changing the chain alone is not advisable.
And are you sure the chain/sprocket set costs 3.5k?
Ram
Idk for what they told me 3k for set thn :/ i live in mumbai.Originally posted by kannanmr16 View PostI got my chain and sprockets replaced last year August. Cost of the set is 1.9k with a service charge of 400. So total 2.3k
Can you give me some tips about maintaining the chain & sprocket, as mine lasted for 25k kms that too after 25k kms its in this state.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostBasically my maintenance for the first 10k km was non existent , its been around 3500-4000km since I changed at 30k km , I figured if I maintained the chain better it would be lasting me to 35k km, but I think leech is still on his stock chain at 36.5 k km which is hella impressive for chain sprocket set life, KTM chain sprocket set costs about 3-3.5 k just as it is but lasts much lesser, 15-20k kms .
I'm sorry i understood this wrong, but yeah after the chain got loose i do feel a little more vibes and some weird hitting noise near the front sprocket like the chain is hitting something.Originally posted by leech View PostFor me the chain isnt loose, the sprocket isn't hook shaped but I do feel vibes on the foot pegs when accelerating at low rpms. I check chain slack every week, it's still at 1.2 inches.
Zaid77 - do you have vibes on foot pegs?
Yes ill be changing it today itself and didn't ride the bike after coming back.Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostZaid77.. Better change it before you jeopardize crankcase cover. There is almost no space between front sprocket and crankcase cover. A loose chain like in your case may hit it and break it.
But ive rode from bharuch to mumbai (340kms) in a very bad state.
How can i know if it did have an impact on my crankcase cover ?
Thank you so much for this information, I'll find a rolon chain kit only. If i would then you just saved me 1500/- [emoji173]Originally posted by bala13 View PostRolon chain kit price is 1800 rs. Buy this kit from local spare parts shop. Any local mechanic will do this job in 200rs. Total cost will be 2000rs

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Lube your chain every week , due to the summer approaching now, keep periodically cleaning it too in 500-700 kms intervals max, every 700-1000 kms tighten it if it gets loose, make it a point to thoroughly spray lube every week on the chain and gear lever, shifter, etcOriginally posted by Zaid77 View PostYes bhai, ill be changing the whole set as yesterday they did not have the chain sprocket (which is good as they asked for 3k).

Re: Honda CBR 250R
There was a D390 whose OEM chain lasted 35k. Given the acceleration of the bike, I think the quality of the chain sprocket kit is the same as ours.
Correction : my chain is currently at 36015 kms, not 36.5k. I was worried that it might give out anytime, so I purchased a new kit in advance 4 months back, waiting for the chain to wear out, but that OEM nigga is still going strong.Last edited by leech; 02-23-2017, 02:08 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
26 and 30 PS of power isn't that far out, its Still more exp compared to non abs variant of CBR. But with all the tech , will take a year to comment on reliability.Originally posted by Saurabh_rf View PostOk guys just saw ktm launch event live and they finally launched duke 250 for 1.73 lac ex-showroom. The only downside is NO ABS!!! 390 at 2.25 lacs and duke 200 at 1.43 lacs. Im sticking to CBR now coz 250 doesnt comes with ABS

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I'm sure it's going to more costly to maintain as well. I'm waiting for my dealer to update me on my booked cbr and the wait is getting really long.Originally posted by Deathwing View Post26 and 30 PS of power isn't that far out, its Still more exp compared to non abs variant of CBR. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Complain to Honda, their customer care service is actually good , when I complained of lack test ride on the CBR 650f I got one but with a pillion behind me .. But still they took it seriously.Originally posted by Saurabh_rf View PostI'm sure it's going to more costly to maintain as well. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Only if Honda launches cbr 250 with 29ps power with ABS at the same price, the duke 250 will fail miserably.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostSooo now will HMSI responsd? I doubt it, that new 250 coming odds look 0 to none as usual but heck no other brand offers the reliability still, but very interested to see how the new KTM fares over time

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Had it been, you would not be able to ride with a broken crankcase - all the motor oil would be spilled out! I just said a very loose chain may break left side crankcase because there is absolutely no gap more than a width of a finger between front sprocket with chain and the crankcase cover. Imagine if you have a bad chain with some tight links and it's not allowing to roll over the front sprocket, it would just hit the crankcase like a hammer and the result would be catastrophic.Originally posted by Zaid77 View PostYes ill be changing it today itself and didn't ride the bike after coming back.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Loan got Approved and went today to showroom to make Down Payment for the bike.
They had only STD variant of Repsol and no ABS.. So asked the store incharge to check for ABS variant stock and then only i will make the Payment and finish the formalities..
Then after 10min they said we have a bike at a different Godown and you will get that bike..
Did all the finance and other formalities and Made Down Payment of 1.48lak..
Was guided by a different person to get signature on RTO and loan application, after making payments and signature he said you need to wait 15+ days..
Am not sure whether he is aware of the stock or he is saying the truth.. -_-
SO pissed of with Kun Honda ( Adyar branch ) their sales team are not organised at all..
Can anyone tell me what can be done to speed things up? should i call the store manager regarding it or send a mail to Honda itself?

Ram brother,Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostCan a loose chain damage the crank case cover? My thought is, it will damage the swing arm and the chain slider the most apart from the chain/sprocket itself.

Here is an example. It is not a CBR, but Ducati Monster.
