Oh can we do that ?? I didn't know, somewhere i had read that the chain links cannot be broken that of the CBR :/

Anyways if that can be done, is it advisable for me to do so as my sprocket is in fairly good condition compare to the chain, the chain is extremely loose.
So should i cut the link ? As it will save me around 3.5k which i could use elsewhere.

P.S- Now ill only be riding it within the city and not much touring will be done for a month or so.

Though its not advisable , I did that , I knew when I had to change, and 3.5k! Its about 1.9 here in Chennai the chain sprocket set! In my experience, I extended the use of the chain by a good few thousand kms , but I knew change was due, get a 2nd opinion from a few mechs too , SVC will say change at the smallest signs of wear. But I cut about two links , ran fine, but you can't ride too hard, gotta keep that in mind.

The svc guy told me its for 3k the set and im guessing 500rs for the labour.
I'll try to cut the links too and try to get it working normally just for my city commutes.
Just have a look at the pic of my chain and let me know what you think about it. Was your this bad too or mine is dead ?

In my opinion, your chain is too loose to continue. Change the chain and sprocket as soon as possible. Cutting a link or changing the chain alone is not advisable.

And are you sure the chain/sprocket set costs 3.5k?

I got my chain and sprockets replaced last year August. Cost of the set is 1.9k with a service charge of 400. So total 2.3k

Basically my maintenance for the first 10k km was non existent , its been around 3500-4000km since I changed at 30k km , I figured if I maintained the chain better it would be lasting me to 35k km, but I think leech is still on his stock chain at 36.5 k km which is hella impressive for chain sprocket set life, KTM chain sprocket set costs about 3-3.5 k just as it is but lasts much lesser, 15-20k kms .

For me the chain isnt loose, the sprocket isn't hook shaped but I do feel vibes on the foot pegs when accelerating at low rpms. I check chain slack every week, it's still at 1.2 inches.

Zaid77 - do you have vibes on foot pegs?

Rolon chain kit price is 1800 rs. Buy this kit from local spare parts shop. Any local mechanic will do this job in 200rs. Total cost will be 2000rs

I know it's irrelevant question but still... what is this Rolon app? and is the parts shown in are Honda Genuine parts?

Yes, it is rolon app.
Don't know about cbr250, but cbr150's factory fitted chain is rolon. Check side plates of chain, if rolon is written on it then it's rolon chain.
If you buy it from spare parts shop then it comes in rolon's packing and if buy it from showroom then it comes in honda's packing with some price hike. But the quality of chain is same in both cases.
So, buying it from spare parts shop and fitting from local mechanic makes sense.

Rolon supplies chain set to CBR250 as well - comes as factory fitted.

I got it recently from my local stockist for 1460 Rs after a nice discount. MRP is around 1700, but you can always ask for at least 10% discount from your spare stockist except SVCs. I changed mine at 25k km in precautionary way considering my daily run though it was quite good in shape.

Old set - have kept as spare to be used in emergency.

Zaid77.. Better change it before you jeopardize crankcase cover. There is almost no space between front sprocket and crankcase cover. A loose chain like in your case may hit it and break it.

By crankcase cover u mean that small quadrilateral plastic thing you need to remove to see the front sprocket?

No, I am talking about the real crankcase cover.
