Apart from this the after sale service of Honda is not that great and sometimes you need to wait for a week or 2 or even more for non-consumable stuffs. Parts price are comparitively heavier in pocket. KTMs failure rate is much high and though their service support is good but reliability is something which always makes concern about.

I own a 2011 model but other than any consumable stuffs the only things that are changed are:-
    1) Wiring harness(once)- Reason- Rat attack.
    2) Body pannels(dont know)- Reason- joints are weak and regular abuse of bad roads.(Never crashed, just fallen once from side stand)
    3) ABS plastic parts(once)- Reason- Sunlight cooked them brittle.
    4) Shims, cam chain and tensioner(once)- Reason- Rough sound from engine.
    5) Clutch plates(once)- Reason- ASC mechanic suggested so for peace of mind.
    6) Spark plug once- Reason- Followed service manual.
    6) Rear mono shock absorb links(once)- Reason- Annoying noise may be because of not lubing them.
    7) Exhaust shield(twice)- Reason- xxxxx reasons. It just gets scratched.

Proves for me that just following the manual and Honda will never let you down. Though i am also planning for an upgrade to 390 but i dont think there would be such simmilar scenario.
    Thx Wilson bro.
I would wait for few months to see the real life performance of 390.
Then would make the final decision.
Still mind goes for 390 but CBR has its own impressions to make me confused.
    A happy confusion 😊

      Mates,

      The story about me:
So I have started riding at the age of 17 and my first ride is yeah of course TVS Scooty. which I used for going to Maths Institute.

So during February 2014 my brother went on to a tour and that was the time I tasted Bajaj Discover 135. Wow what a pickup man (I don't even know to ride a bike at that time).

Yeah as usual without knowing how to brake a wheel with disc I pulled in the lever full with full force like scooty and it thrown me like a ball.
P.S - my mom beat the hell out of me when I reached home with all the bruises and smile on my face.

So later on I started out riding properly with the help of my brother.

I joined SRM and in 2nd year My dad bought me TVS Apache RTR 180 (an upgrade from scooty eeeeeeeeeeee).

Man that was a crazy machine with all nothing but power.

It was a great machine. I had a ride of around 800 kms in a single day with Apache. Believe me it just winded up.

Then I got selected in MNC company which is in Siruseri chennai. My parents allowed me to go in bike as the daily commute is itself around 50 KMs.

2nd Feb 2015 - I met with an accident and broke jaw bone and collarbone. I still don't remember anything happened at the time of accident .
But after admitting in hospital Police recovered my bike and helmet. Helmet was broken near jaw. that's the power 800 rupees helmet.

Post recovery my parents asked me to change the bike But I was adamant on Apache and repaired and brought it back to life.

ODO - 35000 kms - Sep 2015 myself and 8 of my colleagues went on a Bike trip to Kerala. every other had an RE and am the only one with an 180cc.

That was an 5 days roller coaster 2350 kms ride. those were my best memories.

It also survived the 2015 Chennai Floods.

I sold my Apache due to various problems on bike and at that time the ODO was 50055 Kms 3.5 years old.

Then I bought an KTM RC 200 on Feb 8 2016.
One month later I had a sever pain on RHS shoulder.
Diagnosed with sever stress on clavicle. So I used the bike only to commute to office.

So during October 2016 I had to sell the bike because of financial problem and I sold my bike to a guy in OLX for 1.5L.

We recovered from financial position gradually and I started thinking about new bike again .

That was when I became active in xBHP and started following some threads. You guys helped me a lot in choosing bikes.

      So My shortlisted bikes were:
      1. Mahindra Mojo
      2. RE Bullet
      3. CBR 250R
      4. Dominar 400 (VS/RS 400)
      5. Benelli TNT25

I had a fantastic mileage of around 35 - 38kmpl in RC 200. So I was sure sure that above machines can give me at least 30 - 35kmpl.

      Rejection reasons:
      1. Mojo - Weight and service centre distance.
      2. RE Bullet - I don't want to be stranded somewhere in highway(No offence it's a fantastic machine but just a personal experience)
      3. Dominar 400 - Main reason Bajaj. Didn't feel anything special.
      4. Benelli TNT25 - Only 2 service centres in Chennai price of 2.19L(with ceramic coating) and not even ABS at that price point.

So Finally I went for REPSOL CBR with the track record of the fellow members here... Thanks to them
Also it had a relaxed seating like Apache which perfectly suits my shoulder.

Not to bore anymore So here are the pics of me Honda CBR 250R REPSOL STD.

Soo certain parts of KTM are dirt cheap and CBR is a bit expensive but not like super duper expensive, and service depends on where you give it, the place where I give it, they always do the job properly , no issues Didar Honda Egmore, I have a good relationship with the CBR mechanics and the other ppl there.
Sir thats because KTM uses X-Ring chain and CBR uses O-Ring chains. Both are Rolon made. Other than that you can there are various other parts which costs more than KTMs like switches(2K for right and 5K for left), Lockset, Brake pads etc.

I guess in certain places there are shortages but do write to Honda customer care, they will promptly reply, some svcs will say there are no parts when there are, also many of my friends KTM chains go off by 15-20k km from their personal experience , I guess its how you ride also, has anyone heard of DID chains?

Exactly sir, just maintain a good repo and be friendly with ASC guys, i keep on practicing this and they reply me really well. But sometimes you need to wait because of X-Y reasons though. And for KTMs smaller life of chain-sprocket I think/guess its because of 35NM of torque and its agressive gearing ratio. More load leads to more wear and tear, simple maths [emoji3]

Current am using LS2. It's around 2 years old. Planning to Change as the pads are gone and it's not fit to my head anymore, I need to tie a cloth around my head and then to put on the helmet. Suggest me one.

Sir, I am presently using SOL 68SII Unicorn III since 2015 and i must say its bang on bucks. Its made strong and quality is top notch. People did commented about its weight and wind noise at higher speed because of multiple vents but i did not felt so and i dont tour much though. At the similar price range you may try MT and they are good too and even comparatively lighter. I did not liked MT because of looks and SOL looks just WOW. Even SOL comes with D-ring lock and chin guard(dont know what its exactly called). Price range around 6-6.5k. I cant suggest any helmet over this very price range because i never used.

For radiator grill follow http://carbonracing.in [emoji4] They are the cheapest available i guess.

Hey, any idea as to how much the frame sliders for the CBR cost?
And any idea on their availability near Delhi-NCR?
                                :D
