Now I have a new all black CBR250R which is just a month old. Do apparently I had to return the favor to my friend when he asked me if he could use my bike for a day. So he took it at 11 in te morning an got it back at 12 midnight. At night I couldn't make out couple if things. And in the morning I had the shock of my life. An area on the fuel tank seems like the paint has been damaged completely as I suppose something very hot qas either kept on the tank or spilled on the tank. My exhaust guard didn't even have a single scratch and now it has scratches which even a 1 year old CBR would not have.

Moral : never ask someone for his bike so that u don't have to return the favor.

Do not repaint, you cannot get exact shade or finish like the Co provided, also if there are no scratches then a polishing job @ the so called Teflon coating person will also do.The 3M treatment you said is the best,it will be bit on a higher side but it is the best treatment. If you got no where to go then shoot me a pm I know someone who does this kind of polishing jobs & lastly SHIT HAPPENS ,do not loose heart, all is not lost.

The light is noticeably brighter and the best part is the beam spread is somehow a lil more and even more focused.
I cannot quantify how strong it was in comparison but its a pretty good difference. The color is not too white and not too yellow. Its perfect for riding in all conditions.
Would even show a birdie to the hid's during the rainy season.

AK3D. He has given the best advice to you for managing the damage. You could also ask this scumbag, very innocently, as to what he had carried on the tank. His answer should point you to a solution. The way the exhaust shield is scratched, it seems to me that some moron used it as a foot peg.

And the lesson is not "never ask someone for his bike so that u don't have to return the favor." The real lesson is to know when to say "NO. Sorry, I cannot lend you my bike. From the condition of your bike, I know that you abuse your bike really badly. So, I cannot lend you my bike. I shall give you the bus/auto/train fare for the journey but not the bike. If you agree, we stay friends. If you don't, get the f***k out of my face, a******e" or words to that effect.

I follow this norm personally. Once, I had to shell out about Rs 2.5k to a friend because I did not lend him my car for the day so I reimbursed his auto charges. I am happy, he is happy, all eez wael.
Thanks for all the advice bro. Once bitten and now I am going to keep my one fingered salute ready whenever any of my friends ask for my bike.

And I will try and make it to the 3M showroom tomorrow and will keep I people updated.

The best thing is no one at my home is so depressed as I am. Obviously it's my bike an "I" the biker is hurt deep inside and xbhp is one place I find solace sharing my feelings with my fellow bikers. Thanks everyone.

I am over this thing and shit happens. So I am going move on and get the bike back to pristine showroom like condition ASAP.

I have forgiven him already.

Thanks for that icemang .
I didn't want to seem this harsh, but I agree with all those words.

To give a couple of examples.
I don't borrow anyone's bike, nor do I give my bike to anyone. That way, I'm satisfied that it's in 'good' hands.
1) A colleague once asked me for my motorcycle. I said sorry, no. HOWEVER, I'll definitely take you where you want to go.
I was never asked for my bike after that.
2) Even in my locality, I never give my motorcycle to anyone. No one asks me. The rare days I've got to take alternative means of transport, I'd take a rickshaw or even a bus if necessary.

My Motorcycle was in my friend's (a mechanic - a very good one at that) small garage. There was some issue and this other mechanic also popped by to give some advice. He wanted to take a test ride. Funny thing was, my mechanic himself said no, he (me) won't allow anyone else to touch the motorcycle, he only trusts me with it (which was true).
The point is, you only get into someone's bad books once. After that, you will not be asked again (and the word will be spread too).

To end this note, I'd quote from Shakespeare.

Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.

(this applies to all walks of life, not just motorcycles )

Buddy first check ur coolant level, the temperature bars should never exceed 3. You can find the coolant storage near your rear break pedal, u need not open the cover of it there is a provision to see the level , and UPPER- LOWER markings ll be there so do check the level of your coolant first.

On a level surface with the bike upright , the coolent level in the reserve can is above the maximum level. So there is no shortage of coolent, and apart from the 2 incidents the temp bar is at 3 bars itself.

Will be going in for 1st free service on friday. Covered 530kms now. The dealers were actually shocked when i called to fix a appointment fro the service in less than a week of delivery.

At times i think i might be over thinking, having no experience with LC bikes before, so a bit skeptical. Just need to see the fan work and i'll be out of my misery. Tempratures are pretty cool out here mostly. Might also be the reason.

Ah..!! It is indeed a really refreshing experience mate..!!

I had not ridden a CBR before, other than on the day i got the bike, and the first time i cranked her up and pulled in the clutch, the first thing that crossed my mind was, DAMN..!!! The clutch is so damn soft, honda shouldn't make them this soft..!!

Then, now after 520kms of riding , my experience would be that she picks up speed really nicely, loved the experience, the highway experience was pure bliss, though i had to control the speeds. Shifting through first and second during slow paced traffic was a pain in the wrong place, but once first service is done, expecting a more smoother transition while changing gears.Had some pain in the wrist, my palms were really red after the first few days, was pressing down too hard on my palms , owing to the changed riding positions(note , i was riding the fz for past few weeks), now that problem is also vanished.

Now as soon as i put away with the clunky gear shift after first service, i guess it'll be scaringly smooth...!! So long on a pulsar and now smoothness scares me..!!
hehe..!!

Jokes apart, really a superb machine and I haven't made a mistake choosing her as an upgrade...!! Looking forward to many tours and rides with her.

The 220 is with my brother at Bangalore, so i will be seeing her too...!!

Cheers

Yea, this was a problem for me too in the initial days. The fan wont kick in. It was simply because the bike wasn't hot enough . But I had fears over the fan going kaput. I havent heard from anyone till date about the fan not working on a brand new CBR 250R. A very hot climate and 20 mins in 1st gear could kick in the fan. Dont worry man. Ride safe .

Well, like i said, I might be over thinking it, I do have that tendency at times.
Yeah, the temperature here has been really cool these days, the heat is dissipated pretty nicely while riding too. Guess cochin traffic is the best place to have a go for this, next time we can have a try. We do have a cochin trip due, remember ?? So let's test it out then.
