Re: Honda CBR 250R
Samarth speedo is something that is not prone to failure with similar issue again. Get the wiring checked. I am smelling some short circuit here...Originally posted by samarth14feb View Post

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Oh boy..!!! That's sad..!! The chain sprocket set is quite costly i think ? What is the cost for a new one ?Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postmine changed at 17k.. sprocket were in very good condition and infact the chain was good too however my chain developed a peculiar issue or severe uneven slack which was also created by the SVC itself as some ass*** mech once tightened the chain and i ran the bike like that for a few 100 km's before setting it myself.. by then the damage was done...

most of my rides are highway runs of cruising speeds of 100-110 kmph for over 500kms..
Wonder how long they will last.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Depends on their age and your bargaining capabilities. Guys here (re)sold their brand new CBR tires for almost 85% of invoice price.Originally posted by rbhasin11 View PostJust another thought/query... In case i consider changing the stock tyres in the initial few days, how can can I expect them to go for?Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Age would be a few days, bargaining ability I agree would be subjective... The online price seems to be around Rs 4700 for the ContiGo set whereas Michelin is for Rs 9500... That's quite a difference. Can I expect to get around Rs 4000 for the stock tyres?Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostDepends on their age and your bargaining capabilities. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Bro, if you read my post carefully I mentioned my freinds "CBR600RR"Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postexhaust system, power commander , ecu mapping doesn't make sense to be true. machine is 26 bhp costing 1.7 lakh onroad (non-abs). spending 30% of amount of the machine cost just for say 3-4 bhp gain makes no sense to me. if you want a faster bike. dump this.. save money and get a 390 else a ninja.. which a tested , stable and far more reliable than a custom setup. above that India is not yet a place for performance tuning for motorcycle atleast..
even after all the setup tell me a place where you have a dyno to test out claimed bhp output. the only reason for sprocket change is .. chain set is prone to wear and tear and is a consumable hence eventually will have to buy another chainset in 18 months or so .. rather than buying OEM front sprocket i'd take 15T for say 500 bucks more and will enjoy mile crunching on highways with lower rpm and it will solve the issue of very short 1st gear...
will keep you posted with the changes...
on a side note : i have seen busted engine running with PC + akra FFE .. as they did were not tuned well .. resulted in broken rocker arm and camshaft and imagine running out of warranty due to the mods.
. I know a single cylinder can't pump out much performance than its stock for. Doesn't makes sense to spend so much for such mods as well.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Daf** 500 labor for replacing chain!! Expensive bike = expensive labor , that's how the numbers work out i guess & it is not dependent on the effort or time put in. Should be reasonable at least for such simpler routine jobs.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Post1700 with fitting 2200

Re: Honda CBR 250R
my bad i did read the 600 part however i thought u mentioned ffe+pc5 etc for the 250.. he might have gone too short on the ratio for insane acceleration which might have dropped his FE drastically.Originally posted by Sid85 View PostBro, if you read my post carefully I mentioned my freinds "CBR600RR"

yup labour is expensive.. for every small work these guys charge 500 bucks as standard..Originally posted by s1d View PostDaf** 500 labor for replacing chain!! chainset
coneset
fork work
anything that might be close to an hour they will put 500 eyes closed.. cant help.. we dont even have local mech's for CBR as of now.. cpl of years down the line it will be easier.Last edited by theironhorse99; 04-12-2014, 08:30 AM."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes you can. Best bet would be sell them off to the Michelin dealer immediately after bike purchase. Show him the ODO and sell the almost 100% new tire. Don't even wait for *few* days (if possible)!Originally posted by rbhasin11 View PostAge would be a few days, bargaining ability I agree would be subjective... if you want to sell them. talk to the dealer in advance. let him know you are going for the delivery and head directly to his shop and get em swapped at the earliest. once you get debris in the tyre ,more of dust or any bruise/cut mark even with a small stone which is very common the price will reduce drastically or he might not even buy them worst case.
on a side note.. all of us have used cbr's with the same tyre. yes its not the best but not something that you cannot ride with. finish 10k. ride responsibly and then swap to better ones by then you ill also learn the ups and down and power curve and complete character of the bike. its a great machine. everything has its own ups and downs.
people did SS and ladakh rides with the same tyre . its not that bad as you are thinking . its just hard compound which has less resistance. gives you more FE just don't ride fast during rains which is advisable even for a superbike rider.. hence they have rain mode...
once at 10k swap the rear and then at 15k change the front. for now enjoy your ride and dont bother about small niggles.. its a machine with hundreds of moving parts.. wear n tear and issues are a mandate.."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

I agree... Even i'm having second thoughts about discarding them without even experiencing how they ride...Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Poston a side note.. all of us have used cbr's with the same tyre. yes its not the best but not something that you cannot ride with. finish 10k. ride responsibly and then swap to better ones by then you ill also learn the ups and down and power curve and complete character of the bike. its a great machine. everything has its own ups and downs.
Still unsure about the bike delivery and the dealer is testing my patience level now... Would an email to the honda guys help?

back then when i bought i did not even book. went it and got it the same day however i have seen times where it took close to 3 weeks or even a month.Originally posted by rbhasin11 View PostI agree... Even i'm having second thoughts about discarding them without even experiencing how they ride...

pressurize the dealer more by telling him that you will cancel the booking with him and buy some other bike.
don't be angry ( anger dosen't work).. be polite but assertive... state clearly you will buy a different bike if they do not give a near date and deliver as per promise."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."
