One week back I visited ASVC and they told me there is some minor issues with Breaks and Break fluid needs to be changed. That time I didn't feel any loose bites of break and also the pads were checked by SVC guy and it was fine.

After a week and a 200kms of solo ride, I found my breaks are little loose on bite.

Bike has done 7800Kms on ODO and its 1.5 yrs old.

Changing the Break oil will do the trick or some other things needs to be checked ? And which DOT4 break oil is suggested for CBR 250R ABS ?

      Anyone, any suggestions ?

Am planning to opt for a well used Cbr250 and would like to know the following things
        1. Does extended warranty apply to the 2nd owner as well (only planning to buy the bike which already has the extended warranty)
        2. Overall reliabilty of the product.
        3. What speed does it cruise at 6k rpm on 6th gear and 7k rpm on 6th gear?
        4. Normal paid service cost without any additional estimate.
        5. Is it worth to spend the same amount in buying new R15. Also R15 does 100kmph in 6th gear at what rpm?

You should probably TR the Inazuma & then decide. It's a standard bike of high quality & excellent, supple ride quality, suitable for long commutes.

Hi friends, M Nishant from Kolkata. Bought my CBR 250R(RED) 2 months back. Will be going for my 1st service(after completing 1015 km till now). Can anyone just guide me with the precautions that I need to take while my bike is getting serviced? Is it necessary to change the oil filter and also the engine oil?? What are the normal things that I need to change?? N what is the total expense(on an average)??

2 months and 1015kms ? You should have serviced the vechicle after completing 1 month. Honda says 1 month or 1000kms whichever is earlier.

Yes, engine oil change is a MUST as well as better to change the filter too. Check for chain adjustments and all nut bolts. And read the CBR manual where you find all the necessary things to check. Cost should be around Rs. 1500/- with engine oil and filter changed.

Motorcycle Ownership 101 - Read the Owners Manual,
Now you have essentially blows the warranty into dust. Now let's hope that you wont have any defective parts where warranty would have helped.
And as far as first service goes , Engine oil and filter MUST be changed every service.
Usually cost comes to close to 2k , but now since in your case it won't be a free service, expect labor charges to be added as well.

                Cheers

Ya, actually didn't get time. Was outstation and I thought that drving 1000km and then servicing will do justice to the bike. What's d use of servicing in a month when u have hardly ridden 300km. So, that is y......

It is not that the bike is benefited only if you service it after the first 1000kms , that is not how it works.
The first service should be done as early as possible. The only reason for it being so is because since it is a new engine and parts needs to set it to its perfect tolerances and so the first few 100 kms will see a lot of hard friction between parts and a lot of metal shavings being settled in the oil sump and we need to get rid of it from there as soon as possible.
So in that logic the earlier you get the oil change and filter change done the better it is.

And 300kms - 500kms is the perfect time for doing this, the figure of 1000kms has been set by the manufacturers for their convenience and nothing more.

                    Cheers

ok.....thanks for the information. There are a few things that I think might be called as issues with my bike.
                      1) The fuel indicator fluctuates rapidly. Means sometime it shows 2bars while after few minutes it increases to 3bars.
                      2) Whenever I start the engine, the rpm increases and then falls. This should happen only once after a long stop. But it happens at signals too.
                      3) Sometimes the horn goes down while sometimes it becomes ok.

Apart from the third point, both the first two behaviours are normal.

                          1 and 2 are normal.

If you happen to have the bike on side stand for a long time the bike usually shows one bar less than the actual level. It happens because of movement of fluid inside tank.

Second is the auto choke engagement. That is a feature actually and not a problem.

Point 3, might be a loose connection. Get it checked . worst case battery might not be fully charged. Thats it.

You won't find big difference in terms of power between these two bikes.

                              R15 does 100kmph @ 7000
                              CBR does 100kmph @ 6000

But for a long ride, the comfort and continuous crusing capability of CBR will definitely satisfy you upto some level.

rattling : known issue for each and every single cylinder. vibes will creep up at some or other rpm however there is always a fix for it.
the 5500 rpm rattle was and is a world wide known issue and can be coped up with.

coming back to r15/ cbr.. see no point comparing bikes of 2 diffrent types and diffrent capacity.

                                r15- better cornering and light.
wood seat and no pillion comfort.

cbr : loads of torque . you can do uphill 2 up without burning the clutch plates
                                very comfy
                                easy seating.
you can basically do 100's of km all day and keep it running. that engine is some serious relaible stuff mate...

above that you still get better FE.. YES you heard it right.

my cbr gives 35 in city and 40+ on highway given i keep it under and around 80-90..
beyond that i dont think you will push it most of the times.. neither the conditions in india give a chance to do so...
