What is the reason for the brake oil level to go down, have your brake pads worn too much, are there any leakages, normally it will need top up only in these 2 cases, the ASC should charge you around 200 rs but I will suggest you to change your entire brake oil to dot4 if it is non abs version, you will appriciate the difference.

Change the oil filter @ along with the oil any cost, the ASC guys will say we will change next time but do not believe them. They are not there to serve you they are there to fool people in believing that everything they perform is correct & Co mentioned. There is a list of jobs to be carried out on back page of the service coupan, ensure each & every job is carried out to perfection.

Okay below is the list of items mentioned in the owner's manual on the back of 1st service page

          1. Test drive the bike.. if required for reported trouble
          2. Wash and clean the bike
          3. Inspect Valve clearance, adjust if requird
          4. Replace engine oil & filter
          5. Check engine idle speed
          6. Inspect the slackness of drive chain
          7. Inspect the clutch free play
          8. Inspect break fluid
          9. Check and tighten all nuts
          10. Check free rotation of wheels
          11. Inspect the steering for smooth movement
          12. Check all lights
          13. Reconfirm the trouble rectification by taking test ride
          14. Clean the vehicle

Could you guys share some of your experiences about the above points and possibly which are the points those might be ignored by SVC
And for which points I need to pay.
Any other details on above points would be helpful.

As said by Neil08 they will carry out all other work except Valve clearance inspection & adjustment to it as this is a major job ,if you are having too much valve rattle get it checked & rectified,if rattle is there but they are accepting it atleast get it written down on the job card, this way atleast you have got a proof if the work is needed to be done on valves. Also check that they fill Synthetic oil from a black plastic tin, silver is meant for activa ,dio etc.Insist on synthetic oil.

Hey thanks for your reply. No lever dint go down nor the brake pads dint worn out. My bike is a new one and its 2 months old with 3200 on odo , got the break fluid topped up and they charged 40 rupees, they have topped with DOT4 as my bike has DOT4 and my bike is a C-ABS version and I dont know the reason y the fluid level went down ...

You need to pay for Point.4 for Engine OIL and Filter only....I'm sure you don't need any Brake Fluid, maybe some Coolant top-up required but hopefully not.

As fellow member Pruthviraj suggested most honda SVC don't accept any valve clearance job until your free service coupon is over no matter how badly those tuppet sound, once it end....they want to do many other things (which is not required even) including valve clearance job (which itself labour cost 400/- to 700/- depending work type) in your bike.

Guys, so completed 440kms since i took delivery, today was a 250kms long ride.

So it had a lot of city riding , I had read from the post of aargee regarding the FAQ that , the temperature gauge if at 3 bars, nothing to worry. All this while it had never gone above 3 bars.
But today on one occasion in a traffic block at snails pace, it got to 4 blocks at that point i switched off the bike and cranked it only when i was moving again.
Another occasion of a prolonged block with constant moving about saw the bar go to 5 bars(maximum ?) , so i took the bike off-road and let it cool down for about 10-15 min.

Now my question, It never occurred to me to check if the fan was working or not, neither did i feel any difference/sound of the fan working at the gauge showing 4 bars or 5 bars. Now at what level on the gauge would the fan start working for cooling ?

Any ways of making sure if the fan is working or not ? Apart from testing at a block that is ?

                        Cheers

Changed to DOT4 while today's periodic service. Portrays a whole lot of braking difference. And even the Honda FS oil is also good. Feeling the ride even more smoother than prior.
This is not just a means of Transportation. Its a vital life component!!

BTW when gauge went to 4 or 5 bars, were the bars flashing or glowing continuously? Owner's manual says if the three bars on the right flash, it means maximum running temperature has been exceeded; else all is well. It can exceed 3 bars but should not flash. (Pg 14-15)

Cooling fan should start at 98o C. If fan is working, it will blast hot air onto your legs; you don't need to visually check; you'll feel it. Ride a different bike to feel the same.

                              As a precaution, check:
                              1. Coolant level (Owner's Manual Pg 21-22)
                              2. Radiator fins for any bends (affects cooling efficiency)

I have owned CBR for close to two years now and ridden about 19k kms, never have I seen gauge exceed 3 bars and fan usually comes on within 5 kms of city riding and within 10 kms of highway riding. That's a very rough approximation and it alters depending on a lot of factors like ambient temperature, load, gradient, wind speed and direction, riding style, etc.

From what I can fathom, the culprit first and foremost can be can be low coolant level (You can check it yourself. In case you need to top up, see to it that ASC use coolant, not water). If that's on level, get the electrical connections of fan checked. If they turn out fine, then its either the temperature sensor going kaput or something deep which can only be sorted out by Honda service engineer, not ASC.

                                Woah...!! that's scary.

Ok, so there was no flashing for most of the journey till now it was within 3 bars itself(not flashing), and in 2 instances it was 4 bars and 5 bars , again not flashing.

I did feel at times some heat on my legs, so i guess that was the fan working. It din occur to me to check it at that time, it was during a break during my ride i notices the fan and thought that i haven't seen it working.

Will check it out anyway while going for first service.

                                And about the precautions,
                                1) coolant level i haven't checked.
                                2) The radiator fins have no damage , checked it already. And the engine is cooling down fine too, except for those 2 occasions(heavy snail paced traffic) the temp bar never got above 3 bars.

                                Cheers
