I am enjoying my Amase (slang for Dark moon in Kannada - Amavasye - my name for black CBR) rides and so content that it needed no posts!. @bbsrailfan - DRL - Place it in a place which doesn't interfere with turn indicators (some drivers may get confused).

Having said that, I am thinking that using this DRL could be another classic "Anti - pattern" on our land.
I am opening this topic here as I am sure of yo CBR riders with exemplary conduct, carriage, attitude and maturity to enlighten with experiences.

Reasons being,
Most of the time, if possible we would be over taking from the right side. Now, we use DRL so that on coming traffic sees us. We also want vehicles in front of us (say a car) to spot us on rear view, so that they are ready for our move.

But, I observed that most of the people somehow assume that you forgot to switch off the lights and show you hand signals to switch it off.
Some are so helpful? and stop by to tell you that light is On. May be they are worried about our energy consumption. You may have to explain them why you want it.

I see that, it could cause danger to rider too as the opposite rider/driver in our land (as they are not used to incoming lights during day time) gets fixated to us and gets attracted for a collision. It may cause opposite rider/driver to loose control in their effort to show that light is ON.

Another practical issue is that, when we turn on the parking light, the rear light also comes up (not in high intensity as when brake is applied). But during normal day light, if rear light is On, some motorists think that we have applied brake Or when we suddenly apply brake they fail to notice the increase in intensity and rear end us (actually it happened to me and I was root causing it).

Since we are blessed with great sun light all through the year, probably DRL is not needed always?.
Now after all this, I still believe that during winter/rainy season, dawn and dusk even in Blr I need DRLs to get spotted quickly.
Okay, I ride with my parking lights on.

To be honest, some times while walking by the road side (no proper foot path here) to reach my layout, I think or somebody might say that as a pedestrian I need a rear Daylight Walking Light with indicators!.

Enough, now, tell me who rides with DRL/parking light ON in this CBR forum?
kpvision. Some info from our Wikibaba:

I have highlighted the best parts of your post. All the points you have mentioned are definitely relevant.

I do NOT ride with lights active during daytime for the the reasons you have mentioned - people giving me conical(NOT comical) gestures on the road as if they want to press my b00bs, rear traffic thinking that I have slammed on my brakes etc.

IMO, DRLs in India, with almost 300 days of sunshine are unnecessary. If at all they have to be implemented on cars and bikes as a factory fitment, they must be slaved to an ambient light sensor. So, a bike/car with such a DRL setup will work well in the fog of North India in the winter without confusing traffic in the clear daylight of South India in the same season. I have to agree with kpvision that presently, DRLs have a high potential of causing what they are designed to prevent - chaos and hapless men bashed up for making rude gesture!

• About Honda warranty...

Does installing HID with ballast in a CBR 250R void the warranty??
Please let me know.
It is just 5th month of my bike, and I am really disappointed with the headlamp

Thats a custom painted CBR yes? Because the frame is all black instead of silver and the shade is supposed to be black instead of that dark bluish scheme?

Have you heard what they said on the news today?
Have you heard what is coming to us all?
That the world as we know it will be coming to an end

He sees them in the distance where the darkened clouds roll
He could feel tension in the atmosphere, of twitchy trigger fingers.
He would look in the mirror, see an old man now
Does it matter they survive somehow?

They said there's nothing can be done about the situation
They said there's nothing you can do at all
To sit and wait around for something to occur
Did you know, did you know?

A brother fell today, regardless of bike or act

There will be a catastrophe the like we've never seen
There will be something that will light the sky

Getting ready when the moment comes
He has enough gear to last for a crash or two

Did you opt for Contigo tyres on your Repsol? I noticed that most showrooms here in Bangalore come only with MRFs fitted on the Repsol paint scheme..

Also, general questions to everybody - is the MRF any better than the Contigo, if so in what aspects (is it more sticky/ more duarable) ??

Conti has lot of issues.. We once were riding in a group of 6 in chennai when it was raining, 5 ppl had skids.. it has very poor grip & also lot of cracks in sidewalls & micropunctures are reported by many users..
So All are switching to Pirelli, Dunlop or MRF if not affordable on former. But MRF is Radial..

Make sure you have Form28, Form 29 and Form 30 duly filled in during the purchase process, get xeroxed copies of all vehicle documents, and original RC book/card. Regarding the RTO hassles, always advisable to get it gone through a relaible agent - it's just a matter of 500 rupees and 7 days, saves a lot of headache.

Regarding transfer of insurance, it's easier to take a new insurance in your name rather than going through all the hassles involved in transfer of insurance.
