I negotiated a bit more and finalised the price of 95k...(22 month old cbr250r STD .. 10k KM)

But on the flip side:

1. The silencer cover has a lot of scratches and it needs to be replaced. How much will it cost?
2. There is no user manual(service book) with the bike .. Will it become a problem? The2-year warranty given at the beginning will wnd in a month.. Is it possible to get the extended warranty without the user manual(service book)...
3. The visor has some scratches and i want to change it.. how much does it cost?
4. Does the radiator make some noise when the bike is started?

Thanks in advance
Nitin Alapati. Rest of the answers are perfect. About the radiator. If the bike is warm before you start it, the radiator fan may start up when you turn the ign key. It is normal.
Sounds great! Can you check with him how much he shelled out for the paint job and where he got the job done? Do post a pic of the bike if you got one!

In Pune we can get this vinyl work done by Wrap Me Up. They have all their work on FB page. I was quoted 16000-17000 for entire package including the rims powder coat.

He did that for 17.5k, in Chennai with a not so reputed painter. But the job is absolutely neat with the exact finish of repsol edition except the chassis is left black instead of grey. Will post the pics soon.

The ABS indicator should go off after you cross 10kmph. if that doesn't happen, it's a malfunction.

Looks great. I am planning to fit a set of DRLs on my bike and looking for mounting ideas. (No, I don't intend to use my parking/pilot lamps as DRLs)
Anybody here having a good idea on asthetics, please suggest me the following

1. Which type will fit better? Circular or Bar-type? (Examples below)

2. Please suggest a good spot for mounting (I tried on the number plates, looks ugly!) The shop guy suggested me to mount the round ones on the fairing - I did a crude job on MS paint and it doesn't look too appealing either!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Try sticking the strips below the part which you have painted on in the pic. The round one's might look odd there

Hello lucky folks,
I am enjoying my Amase (slang for Dark moon in Kannada - Amavasye - my name for black CBR) rides and so content that it needed no posts!. @bbsrailfan - DRL - Place it in a place which doesn't interfere with turn indicators (some drivers may get confused).

Having said that, I am thinking that using this DRL could be another classic "Anti - pattern" on our land.
I am opening this topic here as I am sure of yo CBR riders with exemplary conduct, carriage, attitude and maturity to enlighten with experiences.

Reasons being,
Most of the time, if possible we would be over taking from the right side. Now, we use DRL so that on coming traffic sees us. We also want vehicles in front of us (say a car) to spot us on rear view, so that they are ready for our move.

But, I observed that most of the people somehow assume that you forgot to switch off the lights and show you hand signals to switch it off.
Some are so helpful? and stop by to tell you that light is On. May be they are worried about our energy consumption. You may have to explain them why you want it.

I see that, it could cause danger to rider too as the opposite rider/driver in our land (as they are not used to incoming lights during day time) gets fixated to us and gets attracted for a collision. It may cause opposite rider/driver to loose control in their effort to show that light is ON.

Another practical issue is that, when we turn on the parking light, the rear light also comes up (not in high intensity as when brake is applied). But during normal day light, if rear light is On, some motorists think that we have applied brake Or when we suddenly apply brake they fail to notice the increase in intensity and rear end us (actually it happened to me and I was root causing it).

Since we are blessed with great sun light all through the year, probably DRL is not needed always?.
Now after all this, I still believe that during winter/rainy season, dawn and dusk even in Blr I need DRLs to get spotted quickly.
Okay, I ride with my parking lights on.

To be honest, some times while walking by the road side (no proper foot path here) to reach my layout, I think or somebody might say that as a pedestrian I need a rear Daylight Walking Light with indicators!.

Enough, now, tell me who rides with DRL/parking light ON in this CBR forum?

That's exactly the reason why I don't want to use my parking lamps as DRL and want a separate fitment. Apart from the fact that switching on the parking lamps turns on the tail lamps, it also consumes mire power (10w for the parking bulbs, 3w for console lights, 5w for tail lamp standby and 3W for license plate lights - total 18W!) compared to a DRL which is just 5W.

Moreover, the urbane populace has come to accept DRLs from the fact that every car from an i20 to a BMW runs with DRLs these days. People have started accepting that a strip/circle/eyebrow of white light during daytime is not really offensive. Even the '12 RTRs came with DRLs.
I myself got this inspiration from an i20 which was tailing me on the tree-lined Bangarpet-KGF road - I could spot it's uber-bright LEDs from half a kilometer away in my RVMs...thats indeed conspicuity at its best!

Among bikers here, Sudeep Nambiar is one if the first ppl to mod his bikes with a DRL. He uses an innovative but complex setup, housing his LEDs inside the indicator assembly...check his post and demo video on youtube.
