Every single cylinder bike would vibrate at certain point...it depends on the frame when the vibes come in. Yes, CBRs rvm do vibrate a lot and as of the footpegs they do vibrate but thts not so uncomfortable. I have done 142km/hr(speedo reading). And i was quite good feelingOriginally posted by Ezilkannan View PostHow are the vibes on the bike? Anything noticeable in a particular rpm range or above certain speed? aargee mentioned that he got vibes after 150kms(on odo), he said that he got rvm vibes on 123 kmph and footpeg vibes above 110 kmph.
I have done 142km/hr without crouching, the bike responds instantenously.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostHmm, so there is windblast even with the windshield? By the way have you tried crouching? And one more thing, what kind of run in method did you follow? The manual or Motoman?
I haven't used either of them. My suggestion to you was based the reviews I got. There are two reason to go for Phillips :Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostHa ha ha...Sid...I recall you had answered to my query long back saying Osram NBs were best...why do you want Philips now?
But yes, Xtreme vision is 3000K, so it's yellowish. If you want a whiter light, go for Diamond Vision.
In general 3000k (yellow) < 4300k (medium-white) < 5000k (whitest)
1) Cannot find Osram NB easily.
2) Phillips crystal vision has two pilot lamps as well which match the brightness of the bulb. That will save me the unsatisfaction of pilot lamps not matching with the buld(as far as brightness is concerned).Siddhartha

I am very sensitive on these matters
.
I felt little more buzzing between 4K to 4.5 K RPM in 3rd gear at 45-50kmph. But goes away soon when up shifting at this speed.
Never was able to pin point that before first service as after first service machine become more soother to note subtle changes. Again nothing of concern for me yet. At peace with this.
Wind blast - This is an issue around my place. For my combined weight (bike+rider) comfortable cruising is still only 100-110kmph around wind infested Blr highways.
Above that speed, it all depends on wind god. I feel more blast near neck and head area and almost nil till up to shoulder level. Crouching helps a lot, but not worth it for a long time.
Basically, I am fine with acceleration and top speed. Even after 143, it had considerable juice (for my combo), but wind was not helping overall masala.
CBR250R is as nice as an "arranged marriage" as of now, striking all the chords with moyen style. Let us grow a bit old with that
Quality issue : We are very detailed when it comes to human made stuffs and very forgiving and gross for naturally occurring things.
Quality - Degree of conformance to workmanship standards. Here, for this post, standards are set by me, it is not compared to anything else.
Btw, I felt that my CBR 2013 model finishing is not there where I want it. Switches have gaps w.r.t their slot holes. Fairing near seat is having some some play.
Some joints and constructs especially below the front cowl is not appealing. Some of the electrical wiring outer casings are not well covering. Some weld joints not up to mark. Rear break lever and clutch lever looks crude. Overall finish is OK though not an WOW finish . BTW, it was also the case with my old Suzuki Fireo, where it lacked finish and made it up with a over all good package.Last edited by kpvision; 04-21-2013, 01:55 AM.~shifting at 6K RPM

I think I just messed up my bike...
Yesterday I went for a shortie breakfast run to McD on the BLR-CHN hghway (near Krishnagiri). Fuel and Tyre pressure topped up before journey at Shell. The bike ran well on the forward journey. I had a 30-min halt and as I made my way back, the ceeber unexpectedly started playing up.
- I could feel the vibrations on the handlebar, knees, footpegs as well as on my bums. It was vibrating even at 80kph/5000rpm - never had such kind of vibrations before. The vibrations kept increasing with rise in RPM.
- The engine note became very loud, very bassy and very harsh and it was no longer the smooth, reassuring purring. It was more like a UG2 Pulsar note.
- I could feel a drop in power and the bike was not as eager to pull as it used to be earlier. The surge which is normally felt at 6000RPM became subdued, and the 60-100 acceleration, which was so exciting earlier, now felt sluggish.
- There were 2 occasions when the engine suddenly died at 4000RPM and I had to crank the starter to bring it back to life.
- On reaching home, I noticed the exhaust was unusually hot, but since I had a longish ride, I skipped that part.
Back home, I was busy and thought the bike probably played up due to the hot weather or something...though I was not completely reassured. Didn't get a chance to ride her afterwards. Today on the way to office, noticed that the bike is still the same - harsh, loud, rough and it was too hot even after a short 8-km ride to office.
Any idea what's screwed up? I am entirely pi**ed, not knowing what went wrong. I suspect engine oil gone bad, but it was FS oil and it's not even 2500kms done. Engine mounts worn out? Valve clearance issue? Please help me
Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I encountered the "very loud, very bassy and very harsh".. exhaust note after spirited run on hiway ..but that had nothing to do with performance bike performed the same..looks like engine oil is culprit though not sure..and for me the harshness vanished the very next morning..i have encountered this couple of times ..but touchwood performance was unharmed..HISTORY IS NOT ABOUT WHO IS RIGHT BUT ABOUT WHO WRITES IT.......

Hi friends i am modifying my cbr 250r's exhaust and making it underneath have already contacted madbiker for this. what i am confused about is that the plastic of cbr250r will be able to handle the heat producing from the exhaust as its going to be underneath. i saw cbr150r in pacific mall(subhash nagar) with underneath exhaust just like cbr600r.
please suggest guys as i can still tell him to change the underneath style to normal one(with some additional cost becaus he already ordered)
attaching of pic of exhaust which i ordered

nup.because it will not going to be in center it will be somewhere on a bit of the side.i have seen cbr250r pic with underneath exhaust but exhaust was a bit of different type(round shaped end)Originally posted by princesirohi View Postthe exhaust won't be hitting rear tyre, during bumps/speedbreaker... ??

Since you said forward journey was fine, my guess is the engine/fairing mounting bolts must have become slightly loose, which became even looser on return journey. I had faced same issue earlier in my RTR, where the engine foundation bolts had become loose. It vibrated crazily, made all sorts of sounds.Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostAny idea what's screwed up? I am entirely pi**ed, not knowing what went wrong. Regarding performance drop, are you absolutely sure? My experience was because of added vibration and noise, I didnt feel like revving it & hence felt the drop in performance.
Are you sure this exhaust wont cause handling issues? The weight of stock exhaust on the right side would be compensated on the left side of the bike (using whatever means possible by manufacturer). So when you fix the underseat exhaust, the weight would be more on the left side thus causing imbalance.Originally posted by speedyking View Postnup.because it will not going to be in center it will be somewhere on a bit of the side.i have seen cbr250r pic with underneath exhaust but exhaust was a bit of different type(round shaped end)

Sorry I missed this partThen it might not be problem of loose bolts.Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostThere were 2 occasions when the engine suddenly died at 4000RPM and I had to crank the starter to bring it back to life

I have a CBR that is almost 2 yrs old and has done a little over 18000 kms. My bike started making a 'chik chik' sound a few months back. The SA said that the chain tensioner is gone and it needs replacement. I took my bike to silicon Honda. They did something and the sound stopped(they did not replace the chain tensioner). The sound started again after a week. I took it back and they replaced the shim valves. The sound disappeared and started again after a week. I took it back and they are saying that the sprocket is gone (cost 3000 Rs).
I doubt that these people are unable to diagnose the problem and are just replacing parts one by one. I don't feel any difference while riding.. just that the sound is very irritating. I have asked them do a regular service and return the bike. Any pointers on what I should be doing next??

You mean the exhaust positioning will be something like the Impulse?Originally posted by speedyking View Postnup.because it will not going to be in center it will be somewhere on a bit of the side.i have seen cbr250r pic with underneath exhaust but exhaust was a bit of different type(round shaped end)
Edit: just noticed the R15 pic...it resembles the Impulse layout...but then - the impulse had a shield over the exhaust. Without a shield, you may end up melting the rear cowling...or your pillion may end up with tandoori-ed undersides!
Adarsh_Bk Yes bro, I could feel it struggling to pull. As of now I suspect engine oil or fuel quality. But again...I tanked up at Shell, so very less possibility of inferior fuel.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostRegarding performance drop, are you absolutely sure? yes something like impulse. thats what i feel and even if i will cover it then what about bike's plastic will it gona melt because of exhaust's heatOriginally posted by bbsrailfan View PostYou mean the exhaust positioning will be something like the Impulse?

Did your bike stalled while cruising or while under clutch, say - downshifting?
Any of these didn't happen to me yet on CBR. But remember reading some exhaust valve related issue sometime back while considering CBR (can't recollect where).
With Suzuki Fiero, I experienced stalling couple of times in the beginning while clutch is fully pressed in and downshifting from 4 to 2 and using engine braking thereafter.
Later I started rev matching instead of engine braking and never experienced stalls till senior's decommissioning. But never experienced stalling while cruising.
I am just trying to isolate the issue - mechanical or electronics?
Weather (temp, humidity) could induce a bug in FI?, though highly unlikely (there could be numerous, I think - contacts of poorly made wiring connectors and switches).
Hope this goes away by itself or you are able to recreate it to be solved by SC.

Did anybody put side stand on indicator on CBR250R?
One time I rode with side stand on and luckily nothing happened. Initially, I thought since this bike is sans this stand on indicator, it may not run with the stand on. So, think I need one.~shifting at 6K RPM

Nope, on both occasions, it happened while accelerating - for a second, the engine used to go dead. I had to pull in the clutch, thumb the starter and then all was well.Originally posted by kpvision View PostSorry, I don't have answers, but have more questions -

Do we get aftermarket sidestand indicators? BTW happened many times with me - many times I have rolled away with the stand on. But thankfully, the stand is very flickable, the moment it comes in contact with ground, it gets kicked back to the retracted position.Originally posted by kpvision View PostDid anybody put side stand on indicator on CBR250R?

Your problem seems weird Man...Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostNope, on both occasions, it happened while accelerating - for a second, the engine used to go dead. I had to pull in the clutch, thumb the starter and then all was well.
I think ur guess of engine oil going wrong is not right.. coz it can't go bad just SUDDENLY!!
Check ur ENGINE OIL level, if it is well above the min level.
also i think there might b a bug in the ECU setting. get it checked ASAP!!sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.
Only thing I can say - "The storm is coming"
