since day 1 i am getting an average of 26kmpl or even 19kmpl but not more than that.
last week i did DELHI AGRA trip in three days thru YAMUNA AGRA EXPRESSWAY. i was cruising constantly between 90 - 110 kmph and touched 135 twice for 2-3 minutes(max). but i got an average of 19kmpl(approx). AGRA is 253 kms from delhi

on highway i change gears between 6k - 7k rpm

earlier than this i made a trip to Vrindavan from same route and covered 350+ kms in one day.. that day i rode on constant speed of 120kmph and infact 140kmph for 20 mins(CONSTANT) even that time i got an AVERAGE OF 24KMPL

in city i get an average of 26kmpl nothing more than that. i change gears between to 4k rpm - 5k rpm and doesnt redline in any gear. using honda oil , Indian oil xtra premium and sometimes normal indian oil petrol, lubericate chain between 700-800kms

i changed my bikes shims on 10k kms before and everything is perfect but still...

is there any thing am missing or what??
bike has clocked 14762kms and 15 months young. now will go for its service.

i fill fuel once it starts blinking within 15-20 km's.. it generall takes fuel between 730rs-750rs .. to get to the brimm...

sometimes 9.7 litres sometime 9.42... again varies.. but i reset the trip every time it blinks and have always got constant 34kmpl in city...

19 is too low.. that cannot be it and if its actually like that.. you gotta go to svc at the earliest.. check the spark plug.. see if its brown .. or black..
mine and other cbr's are supposed to be light brown.. the bike runs lean from factory...

            1. Where to sit:
Option 1: I sit, say a cm behind the tank-seat joint. With this I have a straight back, slightly leaned, but have my arms fully stretched (may be good for back and bad for elbow)
Option 2: Another option is to sit touching the tank-seat joint. With this I can slouch with arms not fully extended (may be good for elbow bad for back - but I can sit upright also).

Did any of you guys faced this issue? or what is your opinion?
You should sit the way which makes riding the bike comfortable to you. Try out different positions. IMO, seating should neither be too close to the tank nor too behind (except when you crouch). Also, elbows should always be slightly bent, never fully stretched. Trying to sit upright is not the intention, this bike is not meant to be ridden sitting upright.

Sorry to say that, I developed back sprain last week (causes unknown) and didn't ride for 5 days. Now that sprain has reduced considerably - I am back with CBR no issues with back so far.
Started developing a mild tennis elbow on left elbow.
I guess this is because the clutch lever is set away from handle bar in CBR for my hand type. may be I need a adjustable clutch lever so that I won't reach for it and finger is thus not fully extend to reach lever.

Question - may be OT - I am trying to address tennis elbow here-

              2. Where to buy adjustable clutch levers for CBR in Bangalore?.

              Thanks.
              Yours.
If you brought this bike thinking of commuter comfort then here you miss a catch!
CBR is semi sports riding posture which means it's not a commuter riding position at all little relaxed than sport posture i.e R15 or GT250r.

BTW what's your height ?? how much kms on odo ? I am 5.5ft and I have to stretch to reach to handle bar and ride.
For me it's more sportier as compare to people 5.8-6.0ft riding CBR 250r.

Start exercise bro( I mean be fit), be fit, sometimes lazy body makes hell of uncomfort.

When we buy R15/CBR then we make ourselves prepared for self adjustment over bike.

Keep riding your bike and get used too.

what was the cost of the two
                Here Contigo front 110/70 charged at 1700, PSD @ 2600, & MRF @ 2300
Rear using IRC 140/70 now- couldn't find a PSD at a good deal..
I got the rear replaced at 39xx bucks inclusive of all taxes from the Honda ASC. Pretty sure i was ripped off my money there with their stupid Vat and service charges and their fitting charges worth about 500-600 bucks!
The front i replaced it a week ago from a tyre dealer who has now procured the race stand for the rear but it couldnt support the front tyre so i had to take the bike to the SVC nearby and get the tyre removed(they still hang the bike with ropes attached to chassis wtf! ) and then got the rim to the tyre shop and changed it for the price of the tyre i.e. 24xx bucks!
I dont know how you guys get tyres at such cheap prices up there but down south everything is inflated

Time to procure a race stand i guess..

That's strange , svc guys said same problem has occurred in another cbr n it was just a loose connection in meter sensor plug (loosened due to bad roads) which was fixed easily. (not sure how far their word is true) will be leaving my bike with them tomorrow and update what happens. isn't the speedo covered under 2year warranty? my bike is one year 5 month old.

Firstly I hope your fuel gauge is working alright if yes then it's not a fuel exhaustion problem. make sure u don't use bad fuel too. similar problem happened on my friends pulsar FI where svc guys had accidentally filled some water inside fuel tank while servicing if u can reproduce the problem shown the svc guys a demo.

Do you fill till the inner metal cap or do you fill till the actual brim? I fill up within 5-10kms once blinking starts and I full till the inner cap is completely submerged, and it's always 10.25L-10.50L... These days I am pretty much stabilized at 30-31kpl in city and 35 on highways.

                      • Could anyone tell me about the brakes in the CBR? I've heard that the front brakes are a bit disappointing and that the front suspension is too soft. How much does this affect the rideability of the bike? Also I know that Honda recalled some of the Std CBRs to fix the brakes(if I remember right). Have these been fixed in the current 2013 C-ABS models?

Honda recalled only STD models. About 80% of that drive is complete. ABS bikes were never reported to have similar issues.
Braking has always been good on ABS models, just not as sharp as, say a Ninja's. But does the job very well.

Plush suspension is actually good on Indian tarmac, where you get lot more potholes than fast corners on a public road/race track.

Unless you are shooting beyond 100kph at the slightest provocation, the brakes are more than sufficient. They are a bit soft, but doesn't affect safety and stoppability in any way, and if you don't like the sponginess, you can always switch to DOT4 brake fluid and steel braided brake lines.

And I personally just love the suspension....volvo-soft!!!

                            • brakes on cbr std have good stopping power but one can't feel the bite properly as the feedback at your end is less(feedback at brake lever is too less) ..which results in if you jam the brakes hard feeling that the bite is not enough you will end up locking the wheels..

i fill it till the inner metal cap.. and i know if the tilt the bike once a bit on either side it will gulp another half litre.. i guess i am more adjusted to the fuel figure of 750rs..

so i dont need to tell the attendent every time to keep checking the tank. just tell him for 750 and it saves time..
