    Got your point now
Yes, this method should serve the purpose very well, provided you keep an eye on the fuel meter all the time. If you are riding in a group or probably get distracted, the readings can go awry.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Yes , the need to keep an eye on the meter can be annoying :/

Follow the method u are comfortable with and one in which u get lesser fluctuations. Don't listen to what others say (4 people give 4 suggestions and v r confused In between)

It's a bit complex and unacceptable for starters but I kindly suggest you to try this a few times and u will gradually understand how it works. I have been checking FE the same way since 8 odd years but of course accuracy in FE vehicles depends on fuel gauage which I find reasonably accurate on the Cbr. I get constant mileage n figures are (from past 4 refuels ) 33.59, 33.66, 33.78 , 33.65 which is very near an accurate

I can vouch for this method by personal experience, though by accident.

My last bar started blinking so I rode up to my fav pump, a dist of about 8 kms from where the bar started blinking. @#$%^& on checking, found that I had just enough cash to fill 5 litres or so. I did so and then then, with the emergency over, decided to fill up to the brim when the bar blinked next. Reset of trip was as per my riding habit.

When the bar blinked next and I calculated the FE, it came to about 33. So, there is merit in this method. Only, one needs to ride exactly 30 kms or as per the earlier calculated FE to confirm the FE of the balance 4 litres pumped in.

Tank full (lower metal cap method) to bar blink to tank full to bar blink gives me 31, though that is on the highway at 80 kph+.

I have asked some ASCs about the exact quantity of fuel left over when the bar blinks but have not a satisfactory answer yet, as usual...

As soon as last line starts blinking I reset trip to zero and say I fill petrol of 600rs and keep in mind fuel price per litre while filling(75.20) .Again when last line (in fuel guage) blinks I write down the value say around 260kms ,,. Now the formula I use is

Kms run(260) / Fuel filled (600rs)* Price of petrol per litre

using this method my mileage is constant and varies only in .xx kms. So I find this method most accurate as there is not much fluctuation in mileage I am getting.
Doesnt matter how much fuel u fill , just consider the above method once.

I knew exactly this question would be asked. Many argue at my answers but realise the same after few days. To check accuracy on the method said try the procedure twice and I assure u that the readings will be accurate.

this is exactly i have been following since a decade.. from the day the cbz had trip meter.... as soon as you hit reserve / blank.. reset trip..
fill fuel as you like and when it hits blink/reserve again you ideally have used the same amount of fuel you added...

          its easy..

          gives precise info..

            for example
            1. petrol 9.25ltr and 12000kms(full tank)
            2. petrol 10ltr and 12320kms(full tank)

            so 320kms 10 ltrs equal to 32kmpl.
            have always get 19 - 26 kmpl
What speed do you follow while riding these 320kms ??
kmpls matters on lots of factor bro...

last time when i did Delhi Agra trip i used same method and i got an average of 19kmpl i was continuosly cruising on speed between 90 - 110 kmph and 135 kmph touched once for 2 mins. in city i always get 24- 26kmpl(max).

                24-26 in city is ok...but 19 on a highway? That's impossible!!!
Maybe the fuel bunk guys conned you with lesser fuel than what you paid for - or maybe you had very low pressure...

                I get 35-36 when I cruise at 80-90 and definitely get 30+ as long as I don't cross 120km/h.

Have these been fixed in the current 2013 C-ABS models?
I have a std version and below are my observation :
Brakes - Not too bad but could have been better. After all after paying 1.65 lacs of my hard eaned money, I deserve something good. But ABS owners don't have to worry because the defects of brake are covered up by the ABS. Honda did recall std verson just to change the fliud not much. You can use DOT4 liquid for better response.

i dont fill the tank on the basis of litres. i always fill it upto the inner brim.

                    • However you fill up, the CBR250R should be giving an economy of at least 23-25 kmpl when ridden hard. During my latter phase of break-in (i.e., 500-800 km on odo), I got an impressive figure of 27 kmpl. The bike was ridden hard (145 kmph for several minutes) in a cyclic fashion with progressive-yet-rapid acceleration. So for me, 19 kmpl seems hard to believe. May be it was the worst case scenario. Even if you fill till brim or little less, there could be 3-4 kmpl variation for a full fill-up. But in your case, the variation is too much. I would suggest that you fill up at a different petrol station (will highly recommend Shell even if they charge a Rs. 1-2 premium), maintain correct tire pressure (29 psi at front and rear) and use a fuel tracker (like Fuelly) to monitor your economy figure. If you still get the same figures for next 2-3 fill-ups, then you can start inspecting your ride for faults. Else, you should be showing three fingers in the air and telling your current petrol station to read between the lines. |||
