This is a nice development, I was thinking to go for the PSD as the other option was the MRF zapper... Anything to check if the Contigo is the new set? any id ?

what was the cost of the two
    Here Contigo front 110/70 charged at 1700, PSD @ 2600, & MRF @ 2300
Rear using IRC 140/70 now- couldn't find a PSD at a good deal..

He explained me about each and every tyre

Psd: Best tyre but out of stock every where in india. 130/70 is still available. He even had 160/70 diablo tyre for 11k

Mrf: 1.) zapper q- average tyre, value for money, decent grip.
2.) 150/60(the one on the duke 200). Trash. Puncture inviting tyre
3.) Zapper(the one on the fz-s) worst tyre ever. Third class

Duro: so-so. Not great. Grip is decent.

Irc: He laughed and said Trash.

Contigo: third class in first batch but the current lot is excellent. Wonderful build quality, excellent service support(3yrs warranty). Best value for money(Rs2800 with bill).

Even though he was criticising tyres still he had all of them in stock. He said that it is important to have variety in stock.
Great info...thanx a lot. The name, number and the tyre shop address would help a lot of Delhi/NCR CBR owners

Coming on to tyre quality...Pirelli is obviously the best and the reason for its great grip is the soft compound used to make the tyre. The same soft compound will become the reason for a lot of punctures( our Indian roads conditions are known to all). IMO, in Indian conditions we need tyres which should be balanced between hard compound and grip. Anyone wondered why our conti-gos don;t get punctured so often or so does MRF, thts because its hard compound prevents puncture but also doesn't provides good grip. You can't call IRC a crap tyre. Kawasaki isn't a fool to provide IRCs on the best selling 250cc - a bike costing 3.5 lacs??? IMO, IRCs and Michelin are the best tyres available in the country suitable to our conditions.

PS : The above are just my opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone. People may have different opinion.

That sure is a strange problem. How many kms do u ride with last bar blinking ? The best thing to do is not let the bike run in last bar blinking for more than 20 to 30kms max. As soon as my last bar blinks I reset my trip and head to the fuel station.

Hi Samarth, Thanks for ur quick response. I always fill my bike when last bar start blinking, i never rode it more then 10-15 km when blinking. The problem is there even when the last bar is there (it is not blinking).

Also noticed the new tyres are wearing out a bit faster now. Barely 3k kms on the old one and the grooves are reducing in size. Filled in Nitrogen this time and i will admit the rolling friction has drastically reduced and the bike felt as if it was hovering above the road even over the hottest of concrete surfaces. Just not sure how long the pressure will last though. Been told to come in to check air pressure once in 2 months but that is stretching it considering i commute 60kms 6 days a week.
                  Hi,

Good info. Any idea when this improvement happened?. If known - how do I know, if I have recent batch or not on tyre markings?.

Btw, my bike is about 1.5 months old and following issues are seen with the tyre?.
                  1. I saw horizontal hairline markings along the length after a commute. As these resemble cracks- I inspected to find that they are not deep but only about hair deep. As of now I am ignoring it as it may be a new tyre run-in issue. Anything to share?.
                  2. While riding over uneven roads Or where road surfaces differ along the way (yes, in Bangalore we see old tarmac- new tarmac - concrete running parallel) , while running on the edges of these surfaces; the tyre tries to feel both the surfaces like a tentative tiger (tiger trying to exhibit Zoology - typical cat footing behavior by it as it is of same family ). I guess this is because of larger contact patch of its fat rear tyre ( Max I am used to 120/80 rear only and no issues there). Any similar experience or is it the tyre?

                  Thanks.
                  Yours

might be bad fuel quality or the fuel like getting choked.. so when the fuel pressure reduces it tend to miss...

get the fuel line checked and also ask the svc to remove filter and blow injecto cleaner.. that should do the job.

                      • This time bike gave me around 36.77 km/l the highest i got but 90% of it was on highway and i crossed 100 only a couple of times as there are many cuts on this highway between Delhi & Meerut. Previous best was 34.99 when in runin, Normally it is around 28-30km/l range in Delhi.

I dont know know how come you guys getting average 30+
since day 1 i am getting an average of 26kmpl or even 19kmpl but not more than that.
last week i did DELHI AGRA trip in three days thru YAMUNA AGRA EXPRESSWAY. i was cruising constantly between 90 - 110 kmph and touched 135 twice for 2-3 minutes(max). but i got an average of 19kmpl(approx). AGRA is 253 kms from delhi

on highway i change gears between 6k - 7k rpm

earlier than this i made a trip to Vrindavan from same route and covered 350+ kms in one day.. that day i rode on constant speed of 120kmph and infact 140kmph for 20 mins(CONSTANT) even that time i got an AVERAGE OF 24KMPL

in city i get an average of 26kmpl nothing more than that. i change gears between to 4k rpm - 5k rpm and doesnt redline in any gear. using honda oil , Indian oil xtra premium and sometimes normal indian oil petrol, lubericate chain between 700-800kms

i changed my bikes shims on 10k kms before and everything is perfect but still...

is there any thing am missing or what??
bike has clocked 14762kms and 15 months young. now will go for its service.

Always check it in Full tank method. For eg put your trip meter to zero and fill full tank then drive as usual and when you again fill ur tank see how much it takes and then divide the Kms driven with the liter of petrol u filled this time.

Hmmm i have also seen this issue on my bike a few times but it went away on its own.
Hope it does not return else Ill have to fight with honda to replace the whole console under warranty.

                              • Riding posture and RSI related

                                Hi Guys,
Sorry to say that, I developed back sprain last week (causes unknown) and didn't ride for 5 days. Now that sprain has reduced considerably - I am back with CBR no issues with back so far.
Started developing a mild tennis elbow on left elbow.
I guess this is because the clutch lever is set away from handle bar in CBR for my hand type. may be I need a adjustable clutch lever so that I won't reach for it and finger is thus not fully extend to reach lever.

This brings the riding posture questions .

                                1. Where to sit:
Option 1: I sit, say a cm behind the tank-seat joint. With this I have a straight back, slightly leaned, but have my arms fully stretched (may be good for back and bad for elbow)
Option 2: Another option is to sit touching the tank-seat joint. With this I can slouch with arms not fully extended (may be good for elbow bad for back - but I can sit upright also).

Did any of you guys faced this issue? or what is your opinion?

Question - may be OT - I am trying to address tennis elbow here-

                                2. Where to buy adjustable clutch levers for CBR in Bangalore?.

                                Thanks.
                                Yours.
