  • Happy, Got delivery of my CBR ABS tiranga on 25th , just before holi.
    Engine Smooth as silk,
while driving for a few kms realised body gets glued to the bike Excellent handling, I think it will improve my driving too.
good rear suspension as compared to my ZMR.
Excellent power, as no need to change much gears in city traffic.

        Congrats
BTW I personally feel ZMR is equally good (or maybe slightly better) in city, due to it's rich torque and tall gearing.
        Just to compare:
        ZMR@5000 RPM on 5th gear = 80kph
        CBR@5000 RPM on 6th gear = 80kph

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Welcome to the lucky club!. Count your blessings for this opportunity man!.
BTW, after first service, engine will be much more smooth (more silkier than silk).
Well, in Bangalore traffic, we will be always in 2nd and 3rd (max). So, gear shifting is anyway not needed!

          • CBR250 Videos

            Disclaimer:
            1. This is a Rant.
            2. This can be OT, though related to our ceeber!

I am not a YouTube junkie, but recently, I happened to come across a HD video of Kawasaki Versys on 'tube - it was extremely well directed, well shot and well-edited. I got hooked on, and came across similar HD videos for many other bikes - including our desi Pulsar 200NS - all of which are extremely well-shot showreels to demonstrate a particular bike's features and capabilities.

Searching for similar videos for CBR250, I came across - nigh, nope, nei, none! What I got to see were mostly amateur-shot helmet-mounted videos with crappy resolution, lots of shake and no appeal. I did come across a couple of 'official' videos, but they were at a pathetic 360p, and didn't do any justice. Though the 'official' videos were shot somewhere in Thailand, the ediitng and direction left a lot to be desired.

I then happened to stumble across a similar official video for the 500 series (CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X), which was again, undelectable.

Do we have some *really good* professional videos for the CBR anywhere on the web, preferably in 720p resolution, if not worse? When we can have such great videos for bikes like the Versys, Ninja and even the Pulsar (some of them even from unofficial channels), is Honda's official PR so weak? And are there no individual enthusiasts who have make any good showreels on CBRs? Are all CBR-guys always involved in shooting their 150-ish top speed with helmet-mounted webcams?

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

              • Okay, it's been two weeks since I got my bike, so did a moderate ride (total of 200 odd kms) to complete the run-in. Rides brilliantly, unperturbed by cross winds, plenty of juice, oh boy.. Reminds me of the time I used to tour in my old karizma, just that this one is so much better. Almost 800kms completed, few more for first service

A few rants, the tyres did show their ugly side, not all that confident inspiring while tackling corners. The bike itself isn't very flickable, but me coming from a RTR180, I can understand. Also, the fly screen isn't effective for someone of my height, the wind does hit my helmet pretty hard, especially yesterday being very windy. Other than these, plain brilliant. Post first service, a few long rides await
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

                  Congrats buddy!
The tyres seem to improve their grip once they are slightly worn. I am now at 2700kms and I can definitely feel my tyres having better grip compared to what they used to have earlier. Not the least compared to proper sport tyres like PSDs, but still I can confidently lean the bike on sharp bends at 60-65 kph (which I was scared to do earlier due to lack of grip)

And yes, you are spot-on about the visor. It protects the chest at best, but the wind-blast hits the helmet directly and sways your neck violently at speeds above 110. Looking forward seeing your trip logs & G2G participation

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I exited the lean at around 75 kmph I think, and the front end seemed a bit lost for a second there, and the tires felt non-grippy. I think it's just a matter of tires getting worn out like you mentioned and me getting more comfortable with the bike..And yuss, more rides coming up next month

Do G2G invites/planning happen on this thread?

Oil, oil filter will be changed by SVC by default. Other than that, minor issues like loose nuts and bolts will be taken care of. 1st service doesn't cover much replacements, unless you have any specific issues. The service charges should amount to around ~1300 change.

                          No idea on 3M...

Pls insist on full synthetic oil & oil filter change. If oil filter is not in stock they might say will do next time but do not let this happen.
3M paint protection is very good but costs
                            on a higher side,around 3K.

I also upgraded from Karizma to CBR and literally didnot find any difference between both the bikes apart from the riding posture. Pretty happy with my baby.

I have covered 8700kms but still the conti-gos scare the shit out of me. Now I think I won't be confident with tyres untill I change them to IRCs or Dunlop.

Could the differences lie in different batches of the tyre? :fingerscrossed: hope they have improved on the quality? Very unlikely, though!
