So, it indeed was the suspension, and not the swingarm.

I own a 2013 CBR 250 ABS which has done 18000km. Last week on my long trip, while I was cruising at 8000rpm, suddenly I felt RPM dropping and then coming back up and then dropping again. The RPM went from 8k to 7.5k and then came back to 8k and went down again. This happened in a very short time. In fact it felt like the ignition was cutting off and getting back again. I stopped immediately when this happened and did an inspection of the vehicle, mainly the chain and sprocket and didnt find anything wrong. This happened twice in my 400+ km trip. I could also sense small vibrations on my right footpeg when this was happening.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Or know what was happening?
From what I can put my hands around, it's got to be fuel related, as improper fueling can cause the engine to bog down and then pick up. When the engine isn't firing right, it creates all sorts of vibrations, smoother combustion almost negates the strange vibration one feels. I'd suggest try fueling from a factory outlet or basically a reliable fuel station, try to find if the issue persists.

I would also suggest you the earth wire mod. What is earth wire mod?

    Here you go

Go through this thread, you'll have all your answers about earth mod. It's basically adding extra ground from battery to chassis.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

It could be the fuel. My fuelings are all done at random petrol bunks across Bangalore city.

The thread on Earth wire mod was a whole lot of interesting issues and information which I didnt even know existed. I have never had problem with battery, like switching on, light problems etc, so I am doubtful if this issue is related to earthing. Nevertheless I am eager to try this method out.

Hi Guys Past 2 Weeks I'm Facing A Mysterious Issue With My Bike. After I Park My Bike People Standing Nearby My Bike Or Rather Passing By Call Me And Tell Me "Petrol Ka Baas Aa Raha Hai" Well I Took It Lightly Ignored Them.

I Myself Got That Fuel Smell Standing Near By The Bike.

So My Head Started Spinning And I Took It To My Haritha Honda SVC In Madurai My Guy Mr.Guna Lucky Smelt The Same So He Started Dismantling Side Faring Tank And To His And My Surprise There Was No Leak. He Check The Injector As Well No Leak. I Suspected Fuel Cap But My SvC Friend Clearly Denied It.

Now It Has Been A Month The Smell Still Continues. Infact At Night My Watchman Knocks My Door And Says Sir I Think There Is A Fuel Leakage From Your Bike.

I Tried Checking Every Thing From Tank To Fuel Injector No Sign Of Fuel Anywhere.

I Also Tried A DIY Rubber Seal On My Tank Cap By Cutting A Tube In Exact Ring Shape But Still Its A Mystery.

Well Interestingly My Bike Gave Me 40kmpl Now That Was Creepy And I Will Get Paranoid If I Cannot Find A Solution.

Out of curiosity, you seem to be from namma madurai and so Tamil. Who spoke to you in hindi abt petrol leak?

Ohk so is the smell arising only after u ride & park the bike or even when u check it out in the morning? Does it stink?
          Ride Safe!

Maybe someone is pouring petrol into your bike [emoji5] , I could never achieve 40kmpl no matter what I try. Highest would be around 37. 30 always in city.

Since you asked for thoughts, here is mine. It should not be the case but, have u checked the air filter box. It just came to my thoughts and no specific logic behind it .

Also try changing a different petrol outlet other than your current one.

So, fuel smells out of a parked bike, that doesn't report any observable leak (considering there really isn't any leak) points to the EVAP canister of the bike. The bike has a EVAP canister drain (one of the three tubes below the bike or side stand). When fuel vapors or droplets come out of this drain, it's vapor that usually causes this hard petrol smell everyone talks about. Also vapor comes out of fuel tank breather hose, so, lots of vents for vapor.

What I've said above is EXCLUDING fuel cap, fuel pump sealso ring, fuel lines, not taken into consideration for any defects. The above is the way the bike's designed to breathe/vent fuel vapor.

                    Cheers!

This shouldn't be happening and could be dangerous ending up in a fire.
Did you have them check the petrol tank/fuel pump mounting ?
Petrol evaporates very quickly, so if the leak is minor it might be difficult to spot it. Also as someone suggested, take a look at the air filter box to see if there is any blow by (oily residue)
I would suggest you start off by changing all the hoses related to fuel, and the fuel pump mounting gasket and fuel filter (if any). If possible also try to swap the fuel tank cap with one from another cbr to check.

btw, remove the plug at the end of the pipe (the one on the right in the pic) and drain out the contents if any (oil residue). That's the crank case breather pipe.

I would suggest to wash/wipe out every thing dry after the engine cools down. Then start the engine(let it run for 2mins or take a short spin) then feel the places you doubt for a leak with a dry hand. Especially where there are o-rings and drain pipes. Even the chain tensioner o-ring. Be cautious while you check the hot engine parts.

Also try switching to speed petrol from BP. Cleaning the FI jet also helps if fuel appears to be the problem.

                              VERY TRUE.

Did you have them check the petrol tank/fuel pump mounting ?

YES AT HARITHA HONDA SERVICE CENTER. THAT PLACE IS RELIABLE.

Petrol evaporates very quickly, so if the leak is minor it might be difficult to spot it. Also as someone suggested, take a look at the air filter box to see if there is any blow by (oily residue)

WILL DO THAT TOMORROW AT SVC. BUT MY POINT IS FUEL ENDS UP AT INJECTOR. NEVER MIND WHAT IF THE PROBLEM IS THERE. I WILL CHECK.

I would suggest you start off by changing all the hoses related to fuel, and the fuel pump mounting gasket and fuel filter (if any). If possible also try to swap the fuel tank cap with one from another cbr to check.

IF THERE IS A FUEL LEAK PLACES UNDER THE TANK ARE DUSTY AND IF FUEL COMES IN CONTACT WITH DUST IT LEAVES OIL STAIN BEHIND. WHICH I DIDN'T FIND. DID CHECK ALL THE PIPES FROM TANK TO INJECTOR.

btw, remove the plug at the end of the pipe (the one on the right in the pic) and drain out the contents if any (oil residue). That's the crank case breather pipe.

THIS I HAVE NEVER DONE PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE THE PLUG WHILE THE ENGINE IS OFF OR SHALL I TURN ON THE ENGINE AFTER I REMOVE THE PLUG. I WILL TRY THAT NOW AFTER LUNCH.
