Hmmm please tell me what do you suggest as a front and rear tyre?
The front mrf that is used on the ktm is one of the best front tires in that size. it's a bit on the softer side (compared to your conti-go,ceats,irc) and provides very good grip both in wet and dry.
As for the brake calipers, i wouldn't advice you to swap parts and play with something as critical as the brakes (and you definitely can't swap the front caliper of the ktm on to the cbr). To me it looks like you need to learn and get more experience riding, rather than blaming the tires and brakes. The cbr has pretty decent braking, don't mess with it.

I am search for Steel braided line for my bike but so far i haven't found anyone selling one for ABS version. I will have to replace the brake lines and radiator pipes anyways since it almost 5years old. So i'd rather get steel ones. Do let me know if you have any idea where i can get them. Online/in Hyderabad or even in Chennai(my brother can pick it up there)

Currently, plan is to replace the brake oil and see if it brings back the bite. If not then upgrade the pads and even still if it isn't enough then steel braided for sure!

Brembo pads are being sold for 7.5k a set! We can import Galfers from UK for about 4-5k a set

BTW, am using Michelin PSR, everything is fine even under hard braking in wet conditions. It's pouring here in hyd.
Get the caliper removed and serviced. honda might be having a caliper/master cylinder service kit (major kit / minor kit whatever they call it). It comes with new seals for the pistons etc..
Am sure a good caliper service and fresh fluids with a new stock hose should bring back things to normal.

ironhorses if I am not wrong, resides here in Hyderabad and if my memory serves me correctly, he's upgraded this brakes to to steel braided ones, got it custom made, I reckon. You can get in touch with him, he might be able to help you since you both are in Hyderabad. Yes, replace the fluids, bleed them, use DOT 4 or 5.1 and make sure you get change your fork oil along with this brake fluid change.

The CBR as takes 1.10L of coolant, and don't go for those green coolant, try for the Honda's proprietary coolant or you can opt for Motul Motocool Expert, yellow ones.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

The handle bars got bent ,forks too I'm sure, tyre punctured, my left fairing got scraped and was a bit broken on the side. The plastic bit of fairing also had cracked. I was afraid my wheel alloy was cracked but thankfully not. Nothing happened to me, as it was a low speed crash, irony, both accidents I suffered were like similar , like a bike cutting me off middle of the road, only this time there was more damage to the vehicle. Even the cops there were cursing that guy ,clearly it was his mistake, but I should have been a bit more wary, I spose I need to go to the track to improve my braking and overall riding . My costs are coming upto 7-8k was gonna apply for insurance if the wheel alloy was cracked , but luckily not. Also I am not using the original brake pads, I wanted to change, when told the SVC, he said there wasn't a need for that, it has a fair bit of life, im somehow putting it on the tyres, I plan to change to Michelin in a few months, for better grip and braking ability. I have one doubt, will my chassis be bent or damaged? This crash was a low speed one but the bike feel on the same side twice...
Well, that is one reason you should not speed at the end of your signal. I lost a mirror 2 years back due to the same. Only thing was the car in front of me slammed the brakes just after he crossed the signal.
Just last month my neighbour broke his leg at a junction doing the same thing.

Im not aware of any track school that would prepare you for Indian driving patterns. If you find one, let us know too.[emoji6]

Have met Aman couple of times, infact he was one who helped me out with the battery for my CBR. But am yet to check out his bike. Am eagar to check out his Cyclops LED headlight and the brake lines. He is currently not in the city. Will meet him once he comes back.

Went to ramkote and picked up 2 cans of Motul motocool expert and castrol Dot 4 brake oil. I have already changed the Fork oil and the seals on both sides since it was leaking and had never been replaced.

Selling a CBR and buying a scooter for safety reasons? Doesn't make any sense really. AFAIK, scooters are more prone to skidding (or it could be that I'm not comfortable riding scoots).

Impulse decisions, and cost reduction, I would actually never sell my bike, maybe convert it into a track vehicle , heh.

hello everyone i had recently purchased a used cbr250r abs at about 8,000 km on the odometer. The previous owner had a general service done on 6,000 km. Its showing around 10,000km on the odometer now and the rear brake feel is not adequate. I had taken it to the sahu motor service center on mehdipatnam and he quoted me around 7,000 rupees for the general service. He said the oil,oil filter, rear brake pad change and coolant top up will be done. According to the current owners is this the correct price he is asking or is it a lot?

My bro bought a pre-owned cbr 250r abs, with 4600 kms on the odo. We got the service done immediately, the cost came at 2600 rs. This included paid service, 2ltrs honda throttle FS oil, chain slider and labour on that. I was told the price of rear brake pad will be around 2k including labor. Air filter another 500-600.

7000 for oil, oil filter, rear pad and coolant top up alone is very very high. Unless he has to do other things like servicing specific parts.

Oil :1500-2000
Oil filter: <500
Rear pad :<800
Labour: max 1000-1500
I cannot recollect the exact amount for oil filter and rear brake pads

Generally for top up I was not charged(this greatly depends on the ASC and the amount of topup required).

7000 is a way too high for those tasks.

Engine oil - 1200
oil filter - 300
air filter- 300- 350
rear brake pad - 1200(ABS)

So within the range of 4000 bucks everything will be done including paid service labor charge, consumables, chain lube etc from Honda A.S.S.

Let me try to break it up. Since you are using the ABS version, the pads for ABS version are costly. Honda OE Nissin pads cost 1273, should be even costlier now. Engine oil, you would require two liters, since the CBR needs 1.5 liters of oil, considering you use Honda Throttle one liter costs 504, you would need two liters. Oil filter costs 250 bucks, coolant you can either get Motul Inugel premixed or Honda coolant that would come in and around 100 rupees

Break down

Rear brake pad (last two years price) 1273 (prices may vary, might be the same or even higher)
Oil filter 250
Engine oil 1110 (2 liters)
Coolant 150

Total comes to 2783, add in labor of 500 bucks max you get a charge of 3283.

Cheers!

7000 is too much!
Oil- ₹1400 for 2 bottles(1 litre each)
Oil filter- ₹284
Air filter- >₹500
Disc pads- not sure must be less than 1000 bucks.
Coolant topup will be done free of cost but depends on svc. They can charge upto ₹150 for this.
Including labour it should not be anywhere above 5k

The amount is as follows :

1400 rs for oil
304 rs for oil filter
1300-1500 rs for rear brake pads of ABS version, front costs 1800rs
Why would svc fill it free of cost, the user can himself purchase the coolant bottle which is of 250 rs and replace the coolant completely.
Around 350rs for Air filter.
Installing the brakepads only will cost the labour of 200-250rs
Consumables around 200rs.
To do rest of the service, the labour will be costing somewhere around 500-700 rs

Sanjay,

You can check the above quote, the work mentioned are oil change, oil filter change and rear brake pad change, and the cost given by the svc is not justifiable unless they plan to carry other work you mentioned like air filter change and other things.

The bike is only 10k kms old so the even the coolant top up will not be required unless the level is dropped below the Low level.
Regarding the rear brake, it will not need a replacement in 10k old CBR unless there is some issue with the pads themselves, at most cleaning may be required to bring back the earlier effective braking.

I advise the Sajjad khaleel to visit a different service center to get a quote or to get complete details on what else will be done during this service.

But in my opinion the service cost should not be more than 4k and this being a second service should come with no labor charge.
