Different people have different opinions on ABS on 2 wheelers, because unlike a 4 wheeler, 2 wheelers cannot stand on their own wheels. So ABS seems irrelevant to them.
But I value ABS as much as a helmet. Irrespective of my speeds, I'd like to have them both. My current bike doesn't have one, but the next one will have it, whenever it comes.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

looks good bhai. i am back in town. i have a 250 ml can if you need for brake fluid. one 250 ml can will suffice for flush and bleed.
DOT 4 or 5.1 will do. dot 5 to be strictly avoided and will work only for harley's specifically.

From a personal view and being a non abs user, I'd say abs is a life saver or would have been, but not that necessary, it comes down to personal choice but if you are getting a good deal with abs , my advice take it

Hi! This is my first post here. I have been riding a Honda Activa since last 4 years.
Now i want to purchase a bike. My budget is 1L and i have shorlisted used Honda CBR 250r STD 2013/14 model and used Pulsar RS200 ABS 2015 model which i will hopefully get in my budget. I have very less knowledge of bikes and i dont have much experience in riding a bike as well.
I have shortlisted these two bikes because i like their looks and want to buy 1 of the above 2. My daily commute is within the city that is 10-15kms everyday and i rarely hit the highways, maybe once in 2-3 months. I need help regarding the maintenance cost of these two bikes. How much does an average service cost? What is the mileage i can expect in city. How much is the annual maintenance cost of CBR?
I want a bike which will be easy on the pocket.
I know that CBR has much better build quality than Pulsar. But i have heard that CBR has more maintenance than Bajaj. Please help me choose between these 2.
          Thanks in advance 😊

for city usage eithe rbikes will be good as both are well sorted products now.
and yes CBR maintenence will be little more than the RS200 however the parts quality is also better in terms of wear and tear and will last you longer and trouble free.

overall CBR is not an expensive bike to maintain however getting a 2014 model for 1L is difficult. 2013 model yes...

But the difference is evident between my two bikes, MOJO and CBR and I will only recommend ABS.

In fact for my next upgrade, I will ensure that I pick an ABS bike.
ABS any day.. if i had time back n 2012 to wait for a month i would buy ABS any day. a decision i still regret till date. had some anxious moments once a while.

Yes for every revolution, and I do suspect the disk scraping as you said. Since the chain has been tightened and lubed multiple times before I changed the sprockets/chain.

Will visit SVC next month and have to get the pads checked/changed. Thanks for the suggestion.

ABS is always helpful. Today a calf started cavorting around the road just as I approached it. Had to Slam the brakes at 60 kmph, and the rear fishtailed like a mermaid in love. Now I'm used to the fishtailing, but other people might make a big deal of half your bike losing control.

If you do choose non ABS, make sure to practice hard braking from time to time, just so you know what to expect.

                  Confusing Query:

I shuttle between Chennai and Bangalore every week, on the bike of course, will have it no other way! What I've noticed is that when i leave from Bangalore, one full tank is enough to take me all the way to Chennai (Koyambedu) with 1 bar of fuel left. But from chennai to Bangalore, my tank becomes empty (goes into reserve) at the Krishnagiri Junction, everytime!

Is it because, the commute from Bangalore to Chennai is all downhill? (Same results on the Palamaner route as well). The bike is in top condition, new oil, filter, tyres everything! baffled...

I have similar experience with my Figo. Tank is almost empty by the time i reach the outskirts but will have atleast a 100kms left in DTE when returning to chennai!

I'm guessing it must be the height above sea level then... Bangalore is higher, Chennai lower, making the commute all downhill, and lesser effort by the engine compared to the reverse commute...

Well while going to Bangalore you might be well excited and maybe little aggressive with the throttle. While coming back I am assuming more of a relaxed ride because the roads are pretty good and covering distance is not a hassle by any means. Riding even at 70kph you can cover easily around 50-55 kms in an hour. That's my experience on the Bangalore chennai road.

What is the reason behind flooding of the engine?

Yesterday I think my CBR 250 engine got flooded. I was joining the road, giving throttle to match traffic speed in my lane, when the engine shut off, as soon as I pressed the clutch when braking. I had to push the bike to the side of the road, since it wouldn't start back up. The starter motor just spun uselessly.

After a couple of tries, I gave throttle while holding the starter, and slowly the engine came to life. After that, no further problems.

I recently rode down to chennai from hyderabad on my D200.
The bike felt and rode around 10% 'smoother' on entering Nellore and continued to behave similar in Chennai (rode a bit along the ecr too).. I could hold up the revs (and in turn speed) higher in each gear without that feeling of 'strain'. It probably has to do with the atmospheric pressure at different altitudes and your bike breathes better (denser air)
(chennai is close to sea level). This is probably why you get a slightly better FE too. Not really because of the 'downhill'
I'd love to see a reading of the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) on a obd2 reader connected to the bike at different cities.

All my excitement is on the going to chennai part (since I'm from chennai, and head there every weekend to be with family and friends) coming back to bangalore, is mostly sedate/depressed ride, so there is not much opening the throttle.

But as s1d suggested, there might be a difference due to the atmospheric pressure, as i experience severe power loss once i hit higher altitudes. I've used my Pulsar AS200 on the same route and found the same results. However on the CBR, once you pull out the terminals of the battery, put it back again and turn on the vehicle, the ecu seems to adjust itself accordingly, and there seems to be no more power loss...

Will try to get a MAP and obd2 readout if someone can help me source one
