• Re: Honda CBR 250R

Just a quick query. Recently I have joined a new company where no parking is covered, so these days my CBR is getting dripped in rain water quite a bit of times. Is there any special precautions should I take? I'm not using any bike covers as off now as at my home bike is being parked inside the house.

THIS I HAVE NEVER DONE PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE THE PLUG WHILE THE ENGINE IS OFF OR SHALL I TURN ON THE ENGINE AFTER I REMOVE THE PLUG. I WILL TRY THAT NOW AFTER LUNCH.
What do you mean by fuel ends up at injector ?
The fuel injector itself will have a couple of o rings, and it is possible that these have gone bad and resulting in a leak. No harm getting the injector removed and checked (i doubt if these guys sell the injector o rings separately)

The kind of leak i am talking about is very minor i.e. fuel might not be dripping on to other parts but quickly evaporating from the hose due to tiny cracks.

as for the last part, that pipe is the crankcase breather. with the bike off, simple remove the plug at the end of the pipe (after pressing that hose clamp) and you might find some oil/residue.. just clean it with a cloth (use petrol or water to clean it out) and put the plug back in place. Also check the air filter box for any oily residue.

There is one more fuel tank breather hose that's to the right, you'll have to sniff really hard.

From what I can reckon your slider is worn, and your chain I reckon, requires to be cleaned, as there are lots of sand particles next to the swingarm. Sand particles have a superb affinity to stick to chain and grind between the chain and sprocket tooth causing that noise you've had. Usually most of the times it's caused by tight chain/uneven tire adjustment your tire should be | | | when aligning the chain. When chains are adjusted with tires either right or left like this | \ | or | / | you have uneven chain tension and that causes noises.

Cheers!

Hello guys, I kinda have been silent on this forum, my CBR met with an another accident just like a week after I got it back from the SVC, , well this happened at a signal, as the signal was ending I was a bit speeding like at 40-50 all vehicles were waiting for me to pass, one gentleman on a bike couldn't wait soo came right in front of me and bham, hit him and bike fell on the left side. The handle bars got bent ,forks too I'm sure, tyre punctured, my left fairing got scraped and was a bit broken on the side. The plastic bit of fairing also had cracked. I was afraid my wheel alloy was cracked but thankfully not. Nothing happened to me, as it was a low speed crash, irony, both accidents I suffered were like similar , like a bike cutting me off middle of the road, only this time there was more damage to the vehicle. Even the cops there were cursing that guy ,clearly it was his mistake, but I should have been a bit more wary, I spose I need to go to the track to improve my braking and overall riding . My costs are coming upto 7-8k was gonna apply for insurance if the wheel alloy was cracked , but luckily not. Also I am not using the original brake pads, I wanted to change, when told the SVC, he said there wasn't a need for that, it has a fair bit of life, im somehow putting it on the tyres, I plan to change to Michelin in a few months, for better grip and braking ability. I have one doubt, will my chassis be bent or damaged? This crash was a low speed one but the bike feel on the same side twice...

Hi Guys,

Picked up a pre-owned Silver CBR250ABS. It's a 2011 model with 14k kms on the odo. Aman(Ironhorse) has been helping me out with the bike since the beginning.

Have to replace the brake oil and the coolant. SVC doesn't have stock of these (Surprising). Need to pick them up today. I hvae no clue how quantity and the variant required for CBR. Can you guys suggest the brand, variant and the quantity for both Brake oil and Coolant.

I prefer to use motul, but open to other options as well.

Thanks.

Hi buddy, congrats on your purchase!
Well for the coolant you can go for the "HONDA ULTRA PREMIX" coolant. It is available at the svc or you can tell them to place an order for the same. It comes pre mixed so you don't have to mix distilled water. Cost ₹250 for 1 litre.
If you want to try out other ones there are MOTUL MOTOCOOL EXPERT and ENGINE ICE. Flush out the entire cooling system before you change.
For brake fluid you can go for Castrol DOT4. Cost is somewhere between ₹70-100. If you don't get castrol even Bosch will do.
Would love to see pictures of your bike! Ride safe

aman should be having stock of the fluids he's a hoarder!
coolant, get the motul motocool expert.. easily available online for around 380~425rs. I picked up one recently on amazon for Rs.380.
if you want to buy it from a store, check out bikeopedia. this guy had stock when i checked last month.
motul brake fluid is not easy to get in hyderabad.. you can use any of the dot4 fluids from castrol, tvs, bosch etc.. they work just fine and can be bought at most spares/oil shops.

Glad you are ok. shit happens, don't blame tires.
if you want to change the front tire, don't go in for the michelin.. rather get the mrf front tire (mrf revz fc or fc1, the same one used on the ktm's). It is much cheaper and better than the michelin and the cbr also uses the same size. Trust me you'll love it. theironhorse99 also uses this mrf on the front on his cbr250.

Yes buddy. 400ml should be more than enough, if you are bleeding both brakes. Buy 1 litre bottle of coolant. Full capacity of the cooling system is 1.1 litres.

coolant iirc, it takes in around 1.2litres. and you mostly only get 1 litre bottles. so pick up two and save it for top ups. apart from the motul motocool expert(which is bike specific, atleast according to their marketing), you have the option of using the motul inugel expert (which is what most of the ktm svc's use, and the note of this bottle says it can be used on cars as well). I'd stay safe and use the honda oem coolant or motul motocool expert.
have you tried asking at pratul honda somajiguda or erragadda ? These guys usually are better stocked wrt spares.
and yes, he's been traveling quiet a bit the past couple of months, only a few weeks back we went down to bapatla beach.

Also ive heard the KTM brake calipres or master cylinder (not sure which) are direct fit to the CBR and are cheaper and give a more powerful braking feel. KTM brake master cylinder might fit, but def not the calipers. They are radially mounted but in CBR, its conventional.

Yes, CBR's cooling system takes 1.1l of coolant.

I believe KTMs come with BYBRE brakes whereas CBR ABS uses NISSIN brakes. KTMs use steel braided lines that's why the more "powerful" feel. Deathwing has steel braided lines on his non-abs cbr i guess. I doubt if someone has tried it on abs variant. Just bleed the front brake completely and fill new dot4 fluid as of now. 2016 cbr comes with MRF Zapper-FY for the front. It has really good grip and i have never locked the front wheel even with panic braking(non-ABS). Also check that out.

Thank for Pic buddy.

I am search for Steel braided line for my bike but so far i haven't found anyone selling one for ABS version. I will have to replace the brake lines and radiator pipes anyways since it almost 5years old. So i'd rather get steel ones. Do let me know if you have any idea where i can get them. Online/in Hyderabad or even in Chennai(my brother can pick it up there)

Currently, plan is to replace the brake oil and see if it brings back the bite. If not then upgrade the pads and even still if it isn't enough then steel braided for sure!

Brembo pads are being sold for 7.5k a set! We can import Galfers from UK for about 4-5k a set

BTW, am using Michelin PSR, everything is fine even under hard braking in wet conditions. It's pouring here in hyd.
