Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello everyone,
I have zeroed down on cbr250r std version. But when i went to a showroom in Gurgaon, they said they dont have the bike. As honda is planning for upgrade they dont order that model.
In next showroom, they had only one piece that I also saw when i went there 1 month ago. They said they have only that piece readily available.
So apparently they are not ordering the bike. Also apparently they are not moving from showroom either cause the impression showroom ppl give. (its getting discontinued and all).
So should i plan for it? I think buy law honda has to provide spares for discontinued model for 8 yrs. But still you will have to wait for spares as showroom dont stock anything for discontinued model, if you need anything is annoying.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I doubt they will discontinue, theres is absolutely no news from Honda to bring in any new bike, no 300r or 250rr/350rr, 500r, . There are a lot of cbrs I doubt they can stop getting Spares n all, I think its a ploy to create a artificial demand n hike up the prices, I have not faced any such shortage of parts or anything at NY SVC, Didar Honda. Ask them for a new model, check the chassis n engine number , and get the mfg date.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostHello everyone,

Send an email to Honda customer care, mentioning the name of the dealer, your city, and what they told you.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostHello everyone,

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes there is no news for replacement from honda. So hopefully cbr250r stays as is. Anyways purchase is few months away as currently am in a bit of credit card mess.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostI doubt they will discontinue, theres is absolutely no news from Honda to bring in any new bike, no 300r or 250rr/350rr, 500r, . Also want to see how bmw g310r is. Its looking like a good sportbike with touring capabilities. Look at rear seat. The grab rails even have slots for bungee cord hooks on the underside.

So any way you have decided to wait then collect some more cash and get the ABS version if you have decided CBR is for you.
BMW 310r is yet to launch and not sure how the service will be dealt with, if its like Benelli then it would be problem as you wont have option to go to different SVC's but if its done like KTM or Kawsaki then it would be great.
But one thing sure is that there's not a single bike in the 2 lakhs price range which is cheaper to maintain than CBR even Benelli TNT25 is expensive to maintain.
Anyways keep hunting

Mohan

One thing i noticed and liked about cbr on long test ride is its a tourer through and through.
My current bike is r15. On tight courners, only way to enjoy r15 is going flat out. It demands you to shift your bum cheek and push footpegs with your toes and blast open throttle to get any satisfaction out of it. Otherwise on normal speeds, it just eats corners for breakfast. While this type of riding is highly addictive, you cant do it on long tours as it tires you out really fast.
On cbr i noticed i was enjoying same corners even on moderate speeds. It just requires winding roads to have some fun on it. I dont fully understand reason why is this. Something to do with feedback chassis provides and the way bike steers.
Agreed i am not going as fast but am not a racer and dont care. What i want is bike should be enjoyable and i felt cbr did well there.

CBR is cheaper to maintain than the r15, believe it or not. Thats what sealed the deal for me, back in 2012. You have 6k service intervals too.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostNo more hunting. I have zeroed on cbr. Am just curious about bmw. Want them to play their hand as well.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I think the g310r is a fantastic bike, tvs-bmw said it will probably launch in October, worth a wait, and a small windscreen should offer some compromise for touring. Now I'm just Keen to see wat on earth Honda does, and Yamaha, tracer 700, is something I'd really love to come here in the future .Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostYes there is no news for replacement from honda. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Honda and yamaha can do a lot if they take right decisions. Going by cbr250rr. Also yamaha absolutely must make r3 in India to take all those duke 390 sales. Dunno why are they importing it.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostI think the g310r is a fantastic bike, tvs-bmw said it will probably launch in October, worth a wait, and a small windscreen should offer some compromise for touring. Having taken a duke390 for a long ride, i think this much power is optimum for our roads. But i really couldnt go above 120 kmph cause wind blast was severe. Bmw should come with a good optional windshield from bmw otherwise on highways, that power will be unusable.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I've been noticing a "thack" sound form the swingarm area (where the swingarm joins the frame, right near the side stand mount), everytime i take the bike off the stand and i squat on the seat. I looked for a source of the sound, but not able to find it. The same sound appears when riding over potholes. My CBR is 42K kms old, is it time to replace the rear suspension? It still does it's job though, havent noticed the bike plonking down in potholes or an increased rebound... Confused... Please advise!

Two, things, it's either the rear monoshock or the swingarm bearings. Does the sound appear during normal rides or specifically going over potholes. Hard thud sounds over pot holes usually are the shockers, and sometimes the shockers go real soft, both point toward a faulty rear shocker.
I'd suggest check the linkages below the shocks, check if they are fine, try to convince somebody to sit on the bike and squat the bike, this should give you an idea as to where the sound comes, looking at the bike below.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
My CBR is 5 year old (almost) and I had to replace the timing chain tensioner assembly 3 times in past 2 years.
Now that's not normal unless there is something else contributing to the damage.
Any idea what might cause this. Because I replace only tensioner and nothing else is damaged/worn out. And engine is smooth and no wear/scoring/rubbing marks near case or cover.
