          Riding position on the CBR is just about right tbh... The first time i test Rode the CBR I had a backache, probably the suspension on the test ride vehicle, 22000km later no issues at all , seating is just about right for someone whos at 6ft 2.But the the bottom end torque as u said is better on the mojo n and tank range is also 5 litres more, I cant comment on the bike as a whole cause havent test rode it, but they offer pirelli tyres as stock compared to CBR's mrf or Continental go. But the top end of the CBR is higher than the mojo and offers better wind protection .Also guys I wanted to know if the heat shield on the cbr exhaust is a must, as mine broke and it costs about 600 bucks.

              Heat shield is for the rider/pillion, not the bike. Prevents you from getting singed.

                Here's what I liked so far about Mojo.
                1. Exhaust note : sounds really loud.
                2. More suitable for city riding .
                3. Pirelli by default and we get conti . ( I know new ones are MRF but mine was first gen)

                  Guys, I have a technical question: will the engine get damaged if the bike is ridden in first gear at 30 kmph for long periods?


                  Recently I've taken fancy to a ghat/ hill climb which is about 5 km of moderate to steep slopes. I've been there twice, and each time seen broken down cars, including a new Ertiga being towed down the hill.

                  The CBR doesn't like second gear on the slopes, the engine rpm goes below 4000, and it's not safe above 35-40 kmph due to the broken roads and hairpin bends. So I end up in first gear at around 7000 rpm for most of the 5 kms. Engine heat stays at 3 bars always.

                    7000 RPM in first gear? You gotta be kidding me. Man, keep those RPM steady, that's the game. Use efficient engine braking and front brakes as much as you can. Do not go steep slopes in high gears, use an appropriate low gear usually third and second work fine most of the time, first gear means the bike literally snakes around. Also do not always keep your rear brakes engaged during downhill, brake fade is a real issue and you don't want any kind of drama going downhill. Balancing the brakes is the key, front back, mostly engine braking. Lower gears also provide excellent engine braking. Do not over rev any engine on a lower gear, especially first gear.

                      This is the 2nd time this is happening my side lock isn't working anymore, last time happened during the Chennai floods, my side , now I changed it after a few thousand kms the same happened and do I need to change the key set again?if I go to the SVC they said the keyset needs to be changed again it costed me about 1300.. I went to a service center opened by a good friend and the main Mech told me my chain can run another 5000-6000kms whereas the Honda SVC asked me to change that and my back disc... I got a another look by a diff Mech, said my discs are fine, its more the disc pads needs to be checked regularly . I know the SVC where I give do a good job but I feel they unnecessarily change parts, I've got two opinions from mechs that I know. This changing of lockset is getting really annoying, is there any part in the market where I can protect my lockset during rains?

                        I meant uphill. Second gear is too weak for steep uphill slopes on broken roads. If I change from first to second at 25-30 kmph, rpms drop too quickly, and as a result, second gear can't pull, and I have to go back to first.

                          Where is this place?? Brokendown cars, and CBR unable to climb in 2 gear. That looks a nice place to be in. And yes i too felt some time that the bike over revs in first and kind of lugs in 2. I half clutch but that's for very short duration, which probably won't work in hill climb.

                          Well you can invest in a waterproof bike cover to avoid this issue. And second you can try spraying chain spray into the lock set and if possible to the area where it locks the fork. I used to do this when key is not sliding properly.

                          I have started experimenting on using gear oil to lube the chain using gravity flow. Much similar to automatic chain lubing system. But I find that the chain looses it's smoothness very soon and it requires frequent lubing. So is there any alternative oil that I can try?

                          If i find this DIY successful I will post about that in detail.

                            Try using a dash of grease spray now and then. You can get a can of Nulon grease spray.
                            Use just a bit of the spray and cover the entire chain.

                            Its very useful especially if one is riding in the wet.

                              Thanks for your suggestions [MENTION=16602]s1d[/MENTION], but for my expirement am looking for oil to lube the chain by kind of drip irrigation . Am already using gear oil which is kind of very runny so does not last long like the chain spray(I have Diamond chain spray and cleaner).

                                I don't use grease because it attracts more dirt, which may wear down the sprockets faster.
                                Ram sir, I don't have a suggestion, but a question: why bother with a oiler when it takes only 5 minutes to clean the chain by hand? I lube with gear oil every weekend, and my chain and sprockets are fine at 27k, and the asc mechanic says they are good for another 3k at least.
