Nitesh - That's an excellent information. I'm already experiencing slight damages on the radiator fins due to the high speed insects/mud/dirts hitting the radiator & was worried as what needs to be done. I'll probably inquire on this one
Edit - Checked the price, burns 4K holes in wallet

This is a very good piece of info mate, am sure it will help alot of us(infact all of us with CBR) My concern though is the wet mud and sands the tyre throws in, get very difficult to clean afterwards. These are fine particles and mostly watery which reaches the radiator fan which is behind the Radiator. Will it guard that? Also the price is a little too highOriginally posted by Nithesh View PostSeen many ppl complain about how hard it is to keep debris away from the radiator

I thought a more practical solution is a good and fitting mud flap for the mud guard. Someone here already did that, requested him for the part id/number he got from Yamaha and he is quite after that

its not 6bhp..its 6%of the stock cbr's power thats gonna add up by the slipon(as claimed by tbr)..but i dont think there will be any power gain by just adding the slip-on.Originally posted by Nithesh View Postyep.

Riding position etc
Friends,
I am reading quite a bit about fellow CBR riders having issues with the riding position or rather riding posture. Some members have given links to web sites which offer tips on the correct riding posture for bikes like the CBR.
Those withe posture might benefit from my posts in the Tourer section as also in this section. I may have felt the strain more at my age (42) than many of you would feel at yours. Yet, rest assured, those of you who continue to ride the CBR without any postural mods, notwithstanding those who recommend the "correct" posture, will, at my age, be not fit enough to ride even a tricycle.
Secondly, most of these brave hearts just might become a) sterile or worst b) impotent. Why, PM me and I shall give you the answer. Interested parties might like to Google for the connection between professional cycling a la Tour de France and male reproduction and sexual issues.
I have put up fotos of a mod that I have made up for better or for worse. Now, I plan to train on Perspex bits with a heat gun so that I do not have to use the terrible tension bar.
Non-ABS guys, be VERY CAREFUL in the rain on this bike - IT IS NOT LIKE ANY OTHER 150 to 220 CC BIKE IN INDIA.
Regards and do write back,
Maneesh

Definitely get the ABS version
All you guys who are wondering whether to get the Standard or ABS version, let me tell you an incident of mine that will put your mind to rest.
Yesterday, I was riding on Paud road just outside of Pune. On an otherwise great road (1 by 1 lane, undivided highway), there is one particular location near Pirangut ghat where it is very difficult to see oncoming traffic.
Unfortunately, tell that to an idiot in a Scorpio performing an overtaking at 90 kmph by entering the oncoming lane, incidentally at that very spot.. Needless to say, I was extremely surprised to find myself sharing the lane with a Scorpio doing the same speed as me, except in the opposite direction...
A collision at a combined speed of 180 kmph would have sent me straight to the morgue, bypassing the hospital altogether.
By the time we saw each other, there was hardly 10 meters separating us, prompting us to both swerve in opposite directions. Him, almost smashing into the car he was overtaking, and me, almost flying off the road. As expected, in such a panic, all rational thoughts flew out of my head just as I was flying off the road as I braked with all my strength, already seeing tomorrow's newspaper headlines in my mind's eye. At such a time, the only thing that allows me to be sitting here, writing this post, was the ABS.. It worked flawlessly, bringing me to a safe and quick halt, despite the kind of braking that would have locked both wheels. This was extremely disconcerting to a guy on a Pulsar travelling quite behind me, as suddenly in a fraction of a second, he found himself travelling beside me rather than way behind.
So the moral of this story is that I owe a lot to the ABS, and it is improbable that I will buy a non ABS bike in the foreseeable future. Hope this helps you justify the additional 30K.

When I went to Darshan Tyres in Pune on Jangli Maharaj road, I was quoted 10k plus 10k for each tyre. A total of 20k to change both tyres to Pirelli Sport Demon, that too lasting 10 to 15k kilometers... 20k annual recurring expense seems quite harsh.. Can somebody confirm the price.Originally posted by rmchhetri View PostGet Pirelli Sport Demon 140/70-17 if you can, the best option available in India as far as I know about tyres. Price is around 4k here in Bangalore.

Thinking of doing the same but unsure if it will work. Have ridden in heavy rain and wet roads and the radiator seems to be working just fine. Unfortunately while cleaning it I seem to have bent a few fins myselfOriginally posted by MAD BIKER View PostHere is a pic of radiator cover a guy made with 100rs. mesh and 40 rs. cable ties.A good 'jugaad',i must say

Will give the Jugaad a try nonetheless

to all those who are concerned about there bike's radiator and hence putting a cover to protect it.
Friends you dont need to put a cover on the radiator coz
1. its not an aesthetic thing so as to cover it which will preserve its beauty
2. its main purpose is to transfer the heat from engine to environment, hence covering it will negate its purpose though it is negligible
3. its a robust build, even if a bird gets collided at extreme speeds nothing will happen.
