Yes the LOCK and KEY issue is there with me, I keep applying oil once in a while to keep it lubricated and things are ok.

Did a 200 kmph ride today. Took breaks at every 50 kms or so. The bike behaves brilliantly in straights and in curves though the tyres still need to be run in as they kept skidding a bit which was unsettling. Had the issue of vibrations all throughout the ride. Will check up if it is a fuel issue.
Also had the issue of crosswinds but the bike was still kinda stable though it was a bit unnerving for me.
Wasn't a tiring ride except that my hand became numb when wearing gloves so had to ride without em when coming back. Also, the underside of my left thigh was hurting all the time while I was on the bike. I wonder if it is something to do with my posture on the bike.

I had this same problem. In the first service, the svc guys cleaned and lubricated with motul chain lubricators and cleaners for like 1/2 an hour until it got fixed(not completely),the service mager took a pic of it and sent a mail to HMSI.Though it got fixed completely in 2-3 daysOriginally posted by techfreak View PostYes the LOCK and KEY issue is there with me, I keep applying oil once in a while to keep it lubricated and things are ok.

Top speed of the cbr
I went to check the top speed of my cbr two days ago. The maximum I could achieve before i ran out of road was 153kmph. It could do a little more. Then i wanted to check the top speed it could do in 5th gear. At 10.2 - 10.3k rpm the odo indicated 141 kmph and 137 at 9.8-10.It would have probably picked up another kmph or two or maybe the rev limiter would have kicked in, but I ran into traffic and had to slow down. I will probably do another speed run in the coming week and try to push it to its limits. But one thing i noticed after ripping the bike at 120-130kmph for almost 40 mis was that the engine had become very noisy. It would just go vroom vroom even at low rpms. I waited for the engine to cool down and everythings back to normal again

May be; Try 97 Octane for next timeOriginally posted by chicmagnet View PostThe reason I asked was because
I couldn't think of anything else other than bad fuel quality.
Serious? Pls check again for me & I'll test again; mine did about 130-135 at 10.5K RPM; tested several times. But mine never crosses 8.5K RPM at 6th gear & 137 Kmph at the max; with Pillion, 129.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View PostAt 10.2 - 10.3k rpm the odo indicated 141 kmph and 137 at 9.8-10.
Haha...I did gruelling 50+ Kms y'day without pillion & today about 80 Kmph (40 Kms in 39 minutes with pillion), no difference in vibes, no increase in sound; absolute butter smooth still, no matter it cools or not.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View PostBut one thing i noticed after ripping the bike at 120-130kmph for almost 40 mis was that the engine had become very noisy
Edit - And finally I learned, no matter how you shift, the top speed remains the same in every gear. There's no need to redline on every gear to get top speed.Last edited by aargee; 08-14-2011, 10:06 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Hello guys, Abhishek here. I have 4 yr old P220 FI, now its time for him to retire. I'm tempted to buy CBR250R as my next bike
Just wanted to ask you guys few questions to "lock" CBR250R on my radar ...
#1 What is fuel economy?? I would be very happy to get 35kmpl which is close to what my P220 give.
#2 How good is ABS? 30k for Non ECU Operated ABS is justifiable or not?? (Read somewhere tht it has millisecond lag and could cause slippage while squeezing breaks on the curves). And will it affect cornering ability in any sense?
#3 Is it expensive to maintain? Comparing to P220 ...
#4(Most IMP) Is it worthy upgrade to P220FI
Awaiting replies ...

rite now i am getting 25kmpl hi delhi but many xbhpains from south side getting avg of 30 kmpl to 40kmpl.

yes abs is gud for cornering but it depends on your use weather u want it for touring or highway use then its worth paying 30 k extra for abs version or u need for city riding then no need for abs i can buy std version.
just my opinion.
#3 Is it expensive to maintain? Comparing to P220 ...
yes its expensive from p220 .
1st service costed me 1200 k so now u can compare both 220 and cbr.
#4(Most IMP) Is it worthy upgrade to P220FI
yep i u welling to spend 1.5 lac then its worth upgrade gud handling, pickup, braking, honda brand name, and baby blade too.

Observations on CBR handling etc
My riding has,of late, been confined to commuting to and from the office. So I decided to have a small Independence Day ride today.
The route was a very short ride to and from a small motel about 30 kms from Rajkot on the Rajkot-Ahmdbd highway.
I started at 0630h, topped up the tank with 6 lits of fuel and was on the highway at 0700h.
I was lucky to encounter distinct types of conditions on the same surface - dry (not dry AND hot), damp and wet. (On my ride up from Pune, I had experienced hot and dry surfaces and the bike had handled superbly on the straights, curves and twisties.)
Some observations on the road-holding characteristics
Dry surface The tyres gripped surely, the acceleration was gutsy and the gripon curves were confidence-inspiring.
Damp surface The suspension seemed softer, the tyre roar was lesser and the bike seemed just a wee, wee bit flighty.
Wet surface Quite scary. In fact, the place where it all changed was a stretch of about 1 km where the surface changed from dry to damp to wet very quickly and sequentially. So the feel thru the bars and the seat went from sure-footed to numb, very fast. I am EXTREMELY careful when driving in rain and snow and I distinctly remember that just before the wet patch, I had braked very gradually on the damp patch. I was doing not more than about 50 kph, on a slight right handed curve.
To my horror, the bike skidded neatly about an inch to the left, towards the outside of the turn. What was remarkable was that BOTH tyres lost adhesion almost simultaneously, the front a fraction of a second before the rear. One moment I was tracking an imaginary line say A, the next, a line say B one inch to the left of A.This patch had a film of water about 1 to 2 mm thick and for that fraction of a second, the bike had hydroplaned! The tyres then gripped again and all was well. There was no oil, just that the water from the road's edge was streaming over it due to the incline.
The return journey was without incident but I still remember the changes in the feel of the tyres over the a/m surfaces.
As an aside, the roads from Rajkot to Ahd/ Jamnagar/ Junagadh/ Porbandar are superb but dicey - there are ALWAYS huge headwinds which change to crosswinds as the road curves. These are courtesy the Gulf of Khambatt to the SE and the Rann of Kutch to the W and SW. Lovely roads, bad environments and as a bitter icing on the cake is the abso lack of any semblance of road manners. Pity as the area is made to order for good two-up touring the GT style.

If 6th gear, then 9.5K RPMOriginally posted by Rahul Rods Tewathia View Postthe rpm at 145kmph
Hmm...quite strange; 10K RPM + 5th gear, mine does 137/9 KmphOriginally posted by Rahul Rods Tewathia View Postbro check mine video it was doing 139kmph on 8.7 k rpm or 8.8 k rpm in 5th gear..
Did a 653 Kms trip today (started 2:25 AM & returned 11:23 AM) & that improved my confidence with my C250R, it put a broad smile. Had fun in smoking almost all cars; and finally broke the 140 barrier
. Did 145 Kmph, but again, with sometime.
But one thing I should admit, there's absolutely no difference in the engine noise before & after the trip, there's no roughness or anything. Covered 323 Kms in 3 hrs 15 mins with just one break for 10 mins to refuel; even after that, there was not stress on the engine. Except for my top speed issue, I think, Honda did an amazing job on the engine. If anyone is aware of the distance from Chennai to Samayapuram, I covered this distance in less than 3 hours & 10 minutes. I did the same distance on my Rx in 4:30 hrs & my Waggy in 3:30 hrs. After all this circus, mine does 135 without an effort & doesn't cross 137/9. After returning home, there was a very negligible amount of numbness & that too I felt only for just 5 mins or so. Overall, I'm quite happy with the performance. I'd give a full 5* if the top speed is also fixed.
I'll be leaving to ASC once in for all next week or to the next to get this issue resolved.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I have had similarly bad experience with the tyres on wet surface. Maybe someone can recommend better tyres..Originally posted by icemang View PostWet surface Quite scary.
