Hey CBR 250 Owners. Is there any alternative to CBR 250 chainset? Pulsar 220, Karizma, etc?

not sure bout the chainset but someone posted that 220 chain should be a direct fit. the pitch size is same.
about the chainset might change the gear ratio..."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

I've booked the STD Red model and most probably delivery date is 25th, so I've some questions for all of you.
1. What is the running-in procedure?
2. How much fuel is left when the fuel indicator starts blinking?
3. Any adjustments to be made in the bike at the time of delivery?
4. My style of riding is this - Change the gear at 4K RPM, use engine braking as frequent as possible, and riding at the constant speed of 60-70kmph in the highest gear (Highway). Is it correct and should I follow this with C250R as well?
5. Can I ride the bike with the pillion as soon as I get the bike or should I wait till few kms?
That's it for now.
Many more to come once I get the bike and start riding it. Thanks.

Chain Rust is very common with any bike. I havent seen brake "pads" rusting because technically that is impossible. If you meant Rotors that is common aswell. Doesnt matter how good you maintain it it will happen in the course of mile munching. If you really want to keep it rust free clean+wash everyday then wait for her to dry and cover it up all around with a moisture resistant cover.Originally posted by sourav_rooney View PostMy CBR is 2 months old.Its running smooth alright but I've noticed some rust growing on over the chain and on the rear brake pad.I take utmost care of my bike and never kept her open in rains. Its really upsets me.Can I get these parts replaced under warranty?
1) USE search function but be warned there is no "run-in" with this bike. Just avoiding sudden acceleration and staying away from constant redlining until first service.Originally posted by abhi_25690 View PostI've booked the STD Red model and most probably delivery date is 25th, so I've some questions for all of you.

2) USE Search function but you wont find out because nobody knows the quantity. All it means is you have to fill her up again before she starts blinking.
3) Adjustments? Did you do a pre-delivery inspection yet? IF not use search function
4) You do that, you can kiss her goodbye. Post 4k is where the bike starts to breathe when you are in the higher gears. Its like you are choking her before she can even breathe.
5) How old are you? Have you ever heard of people buying their cars or bikes and waiting for 1000kms before taking their family out on a trip? Ofcourse you can ride with the pillionGot a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

1. Please Google.Originally posted by abhi_25690 View PostI've booked the STD Red model and most probably delivery date is 25th, so I've some questions for all of you.

2. Approx 2.5-3.5 ltr. Again there is no Documented proof on this. Its just by usage we came to this figure.
3. Just do a PDI and see if every thing is alright. There is no IMPORTANT adjustment that should be done. But if you think something should be adjusted, please go for it.
4. Are you sure you rode P220 DTSI like that..!!???
I don't think anyone shifts gears at 4 rpm on P220..!!
Anyways, In case of CBR250R,
Approx RPM at which you should change gears:
gear 1: above 4,
gear 2-5: Not below 5.
Remember, CBR250R is a sports bike and amazing machine. You can rev it as much as you want BUT don't LUG the engine. If you ride it below 4RPM, you will LUG the engine. For more info on what is LUGGING the engine, please google.
5. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't. Unless, you are not sure if you can handle the bike and don't want to risk the pillion's life..

We really don't mind you asking questions, but it would be really good if you try google first and if still not satisfied, please ask..Originally posted by abhi_25690 View PostI'm 22!!
Don't mind my questions, it's just that I'm trying my best to get all my doubts cleared even if they sound dumb, because I don't want to mess up my new bike. So in reply to your answer, what should be my correct riding style for C250R?

Hello guys !
Just wanted to ask you all about getting an aftermarket air filter for my gal , Had read somewhere that aftermarket filters like K&N and the like might be harmful for FI bikes , Is it so ?
Secondly , I also wanted to change my tires to PSD's but due to the new government regulations , they aren't available. A local shop owner recommended Dunlop Tuffgrips but i can't find any reviews for them , Has anyone here used them ??
Thanks and Ride safe guysLast edited by Arch_Devil; 12-24-2012, 08:13 PM.ONLY AFTER DESTRUCTION , CAN YOU BE RESSURECTED - Tyler Durden

First of all let me warn you against the FE if you are expecting 45 kmpl. CBR would give you around 33kmpl during normal use and around 28kmpl if you rip it. Please find the answers to your questions as per my knowledgeOriginally posted by abhi_25690 View PostHello guys.. This is my first post in this thread. Need some suggestions as I'm considering CBR 250R STD model. I'm from South Delhi, and the on road price is Rs. 163988, they're also offering 3 yrs extended warranty for Rs.1200 and Teflon coating (3 coats in 1 year) for Rs. 800.
Currently, I own P220 DTSi, it been more than 2 year and I'm selling this bike. Because of the maintenance and my style of driving, the avg. mileage I'm able to get is about 45kmpl.
My daily updown is about 60 kms, it includes city and highway as well (Delhi to Gurgaon).
So my question to all of you is
1. If I'm making the right choice?
2. How different CBR 250R is as compared to P220 in terms of gear shifting and performance?
3. I'm confused between tri-color and red, which one is best and easy to maintain in terms of shine and scratches?
4. Should I go ahead with the purchase now or wait for some time as someone told me that there will be a new color or variant coming in 2013 for CBR250R?
5. Any other thing I should be aware of or keep in mind while purchasing the bike? (Other than things mentioned in C250R PDI file)
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure that I get the best VFM. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
1. The choice is not wrong. Depends upon your expectations from the macchine. CBR would not accelarate like P220 but yes it urges you to ride around 80 - 100 kmph regularly. Can continuously do 120 without any stress.
2. Gear shifting is smooth(atleast in my bike). Cannot suggest more since never owned P220.
3 & 4. Color is totally a personal decision. I booked black but finally picked up tri-color. Tri-color does attaracts more attention. It feels good when people do look at the bike as if it is some imported sports bike. As per the new models in 2013, there might be no changes apart from the colors. I liked the Repsol edition, it was not there when I purchased mine(in the same way as the guys who bought previously didn't have the tri-color option
).
One personal advise - If you can, go for the ABS version. ABS can be a real lifee saver. Rest is your decision bro.Siddhartha
