On the engine valve cover there is a small cover plate with a rubber air hose going into it. Under that is a reed valve then a port plate (the one with all the holes #2 in the parts diagram). The port plate is not supposed to move but mine was loose and rattled very badly at various engine speeds. On the actual photo you can see three location points that are worn from the plate moving around. I removed the plate and the engine rattle was gone. Your mechanic should be able to easily check and repair this."
I'm having this rattling noise for more than 2 months now. HSC said I need to leave the bike there to check whether shims need to be replaced and it will take at the least 4 days. Noise heard mostly during idling, HSC dude was of the opinion that it's not going to affect performance. Third service is up this december, so thinking of doing it then.

    • Hi Ceeber Owners....!!! I have a strange issue with the ignition key. it stops working when ever the bike is washed or when it gets wet in rain. the key always gets jammed in the ignition and doesn't come out until pulled really hard, and now the whole unit has start to rotate with the key itself ,told the service centre to make it correct in 2nd service as it stated to happen after 1st service but they didn't do. can I have the ignition and the key replaced under warranty? the bike in 11 month old now.

ever since i heard a lockset for the cbr costs over 10k, i get a wicked grin on my face when i hear someone has lost their keys or need a lockset replacement
That said, you should be able to get a replacement under warranty since you had already bought it to their notice earlier, but this could/may take some convincing or you know what to get the svc guys to replace it free of cost.

        • got a K & n panel filter fitted ,could only test it for 40km,the bike felt ultra smooth & the best part was in bumper to bumper traffic constant gear changing reduced drastically i.e the bike seemed to to be pulling in one gear higher as compared to earlier.

It should be covered under warranty. Send an email to HMSI if your svc refuses to replace it under warranty.

Honda sales rep promised me a helmet and 3 years extended warrenty for free but when i asked about it after delevery .they replied its only valid if i took the delevery on or after 25th December. what a loda of crap.....took the bike for 2nd service .they said no CBR mechanic is ther and he will come next week. i told then in that case ill miss the 2nd service date . i waas assured there will be no problem..in the ned i had to pay for the service as they said it has crossed the date.......HONDA...Makes good bike...but service is .....worst..only next to RE (they left my bike half done...gear and kick feel on from bike at 80KMPH)..as for the Key..ill move to court.i will really be very very very very glad next year when I sell a good bike and move on to a better (at least service wise) bike Hyosung GT650R. i em sure what a big company like honda couldn't give me Hyosung can ......no lies no crap.....a good bike and a good service.

I always got a positive response and action whenever i wrote to hsmi. i totally agree that most of their svc's (especially the crowded ones) do not respond/act appropriately whether it is service or buying spares or even when you are just making an enquiry on purchase or bike related stuff.
And if they ever do such a thing again wrt service delay's, get it entered in your manual/service booklet regarding this delay so that they don't play their dirty tricks to extract a few bucks. And after service if they dont fix any issue you have pointed out or tell you 'we will do it in next service/come tomorrow', make sure you sign the job sheet with a remark mentioning that particular job wasn't done.

                    • Hi Sid. I know it might not be the company but the people working for them . lethargic, lazy and zero knowledge about the bike. on first service they didnt change the oil filter saying it doesn't need to. i showed then the service manual says it has to be .they didn't agree. in 2dn service it was the same story until i asked them to give a letter saying they wont do it and if anything happens to the bike then ill get a new bike from then... filter changed within 15 mins. crap service i tell you in vizag. anyway last service is coming up after that the bike will be stored till march and then SOLD for good,

You really want to buy a GT650? Their service is really excellent because 1. The bikes tend to fail a lot so SVC needs to be on their toes and 2. They haven't sold many.

They could had taken the market by storm had they bought in a half decent bike.

The lock set would be under warranty as it is not listed in the excluded items, mention it again in your third service as a repeat problem. Do not sign on the gate pass/job card until you are totally satisfied. You need to get it across to them that you are not going to tolerate their shoddy work, they will respond it a different manner. When I had a cone set issue since day one they kept tightening & loosening it for 13 months, I kept a copy of the 8/9 job cards mentioning that problem and at about 13 months got it replaced under warranty just because I had the records. Also if there is quite a while for the third service dont wait till then as you may get strandedat some point.

                          • Can anyone give me the e-mail of the Honda customer care. Need to mail them the issue with the lock set and alloys. I had aminor fall last month. Such minor that there are scratches on the fairing and heat sheild of the exhaust and the front indicator has bent. But the alloys has bent. This kind of quality issue is not at all expected out of Honda. Further when I told the mechanic in service centre about claiming lock set in warranty, he said they don't know whether its the customers fault. So wont entertain the warranty.

I am planning on writing down to Honda. Please help me wih their e-mail id.

I too got it replaced and did not observe any major difference in braking. In fact brakes feel a little rubbery now, maybe because the brake pads were also replaced.

The battery also conked off and had to be replaced. It barely lasted for an year and a half and was out of warranty. The amaron battery that came with my pulsar lasted for about 4 yrs. The new one is an Exide with 2 yrs warranty. The new battery feels very weak. The horn is barely audible when the headlight is on.

Also came to know during this service that the chain tensioner is gone and it would be replaced under warranty once it is available.

This works quite well. I posted a complaint and got a call from Delhi by day end. Not that the call helped. . . but they called.
